Given that the stories of the bible may not be historical events at all I see no reason that Jesus actually only had one skin colour, special kind of facial hair or hair cut. Some parts of the bible were written to please certain people and I guess how he looked like is equally as important as the differences in the different stories. The book, The Jesus Myths, suggests the story is Philosophical and should be an example and not an accurate historical event, just like the story of Atlantis.
Concerning the length of hair, Paul wrote his letters to people of different cultural backgrounds. What he said was determined by the culture of the people to whom he was writing. In Rome and Greece, adult men did NOT wear long hair. A Roman Christian (or a Jewish Christian living in places) would be encouraged to follow the cultural norm of the local people in terms of what what considered "moral". Paul would not suggest to Jewish Christians in Jerusalem that long hair was unmanly.

1 Corinthians 11:14 says nothing about "long hair" -- that's a mistranslation of the original Greek text. The "long hair" should read "to wear tresses of hair," which is to say, men should not style their long hair in the same manner as women do. Furthermore, we know from various records that many men at the time had relatively long hair, so it's most likely that Jesus did, too, for it would have been noteworthy otherwise.

Given that the stories of the bible may not be historical events at all I see no reason that Jesus actually only had one skin colour, special kind of facial hair or hair cut. Some parts of the bible were written to please certain people and I guess how he looked like is equally as important as the differences in the different stories. The book, The Jesus Myths, suggests the story is Philosophical and should be an example and not an accurate historical event, just like the story of Atlantis.

Concerning the length of hair, Paul wrote his letters to people of different cultural backgrounds. What he said was determined by the culture of the people to whom he was writing. In Rome and Greece, adult men did NOT wear long hair. A Roman Christian (or a Jewish Christian living in places) would be encouraged to follow the cultural norm of the local people in terms of what what considered "moral". Paul would not suggest to Jewish Christians in Jerusalem that long hair was unmanly.

The "long hair" should read "to wear tresses of hair," which is to say, men should not style their long hair in the same manner as women do. Furthermore, we know from various records that many men at the time had relatively long hair, so it's most likely that Jesus did, too, for it would have been noteworthy otherwise.

@chained2it Impregnated by God is in debate, some take it literally some done, but either way it Jews believe in miracles like Moses parting the sea, so why would this be absurd?
Earthly incarnation of God is true, just as any other prophet of God, Just as moses said "God will work his ways through me" so Jesus is no different, there are many metaphors in religious scriptures but some people like yourself take them literally.
I dont want to re-write the bible, it says what it says.

@chained2it I didnt pay for schooling, but I go to one of the Top Unis in the UK. Like I said, I have been involved with Science too much to care about history, I wasnt examined on history in school because I didnt pick it, the system is different here and perhaps if it was compulsory to take history then I wouldnt have this problem. But yes I do have very limited knowledge of history and Im going to get reading ASAP.

@chained2it btw the way you are trying to ,very loosly attribute, the term science to history is a joke, by that logic, deriving what puzzle pieces fit together is also a science which perhaps on the most general scale is true, however science is the driver of progression of man kind, and there is nothing to innovate with history, perhaps one could argue we could find out more, but the bottle neck with that is that innovation in other mainstream sciences will only allow that.

@chained2it also in science when a hypothesis is proposed it is tested to see if it holds true, this is not possible with history with the exception of weapons used or "thought to be" machinery at the time. And even those are proven through other scientific methods. History, mate, is not a science it is an art. a series of events that have taken place and have imprinted themselves on time. that is all.

@chained2it Also maths is not a science either since its validity does not depend upon experimentation whereas science does. and even for 1 + 1 there is a mathematical proof called principia mathmatica, which uses advanced maths to prove the most basic maths. If you are familiar with Godel's work then you will know every system has a flaw, and this is one of maths. However Maths is thought to also be the purest form of deduction. History is deduction not science.

@chained2it I hate to break it to you but those dont indicate that history is a science history is by definition "The study of past events", Anthropology and archaeology are pseudosciences that are intertwined with certain scientific methods such as carbon dating done by biochemists, and perhaps speculation can be made based on the facts available to them. however that is a cognitive speculation, no scientific processes are dedicated to those per se.

They were pagan by OVERWHELMING majority. For one brief period, as much as 10% of the empire were Jews. Thats not close even to a majority, and it was only that much for a few decades. Judaism gained converts briefly. Those converts later became Christian, along with the overwhelmingly pagan population.
