@devieverfx - let's see - biggest amp and effects company in the world - check. completely new technology that changed the way people record and play guitar live -- check. a new paradigm for modeling old technology that has become an industry standard, ala the Ipod -- check. there's no one else in the M.I. biz that could be compared to Steve Jobs other than Marcus Ryle :-)
@roccotanto Digital modeling has been around since the 80's. The only thing Line 6 did that Digitech or Boss didn't do was have the balls and legal finesse to use other company's brand names and imagery in tandem with their modeling to make a profit.
@devieverfx no -- IK Multimedia is the one who uses the real brand names - Line 6 used clever names like "Treadplate" instead of using "Dual Rectifier". In that sense, I think IK was very smart, because they licensed all those names from the manufacturers. But the first unit that changed the world was the bean POD 1.0 -- yes, BOSS had COSM, but very few people liked that. The POD 1.0 was instantly adopted by nearly every studio in the world, and MANY guitarists had their first experience with it
Marshall, Fender, and DigiTech disliked this video lol!
