@wmpyr My ancestors were knights,my family has a coat of arms & its funny when people think of the battle axe they think of the Europeon tradition but other cultures had they're versions. As well, the Egyptions had a battle axe that was simple & light but yet could cleave into a skull like chizzel, the Zulu's in South Africa had an axe that was desighned to cause deep elasserations rather then cleaving!
@crypter27 It was light & had a cresent shaped blade, the cuts it made could cause some one to bleed to death very quickly & the Hebrews of the bible had they're version too. It was bulky like a club with a curved axe blade attatched to it,I'd recomend some youtube vid's & thats Egyption Warfare-DealiestWarrior Shaka Zulu vs Willian Wallace. And Conquest Weapons of the Bible!
@Greatbear1982 So true, the Native indians have asian ancestry & a similaur body type to wmpyr they needed a smaller hand axe for combat on the other hand Europeons preferred the battle axe. Because our bodies are built for power & endurance,so the battle axe was right up our alley, the Zulu's developed an axe that suited they're physical needs. When it comes to speed & because of that they chose slicing power rather then cleaving power.
@crypter27 The Egyptians probably did the same when they were desighning they're combat axe,its amazing how as human beings we have different body types & we desighn our weapons. Around that,I think we still do it today & I can understand why the axe wasn't very popular in the orient because it didn't suite they're physical needs.
Very nice video. I like that kendo technique very much. I agree with black silk and ill add on to that, You are definitely one of the best if not the best stick, machete, and knife masters I have ever seen and I've seen quite a few. Keep 'em comin.
thats real cool. If you have ever seen Hatsumi's hanbo (quater staff) work he gives variations to use the shirasaya which look really cool and are of course sneaky.
there is kind of a different application from a impact vs. cutting weapon. do some people who use the escrima have difficulties when using a machete? since they may be used to the stick-- or maybe they use a slicing action when practicing w/ the stick? thank you
@smirkdancer thanx bro, I've seen just a little of Dr. Hatsumi's hanbo work, but I want to see more! yeah some people never progress into blades they just stay in their comfort zone, but I think that speaks volumes about their personality and skill level lol
@wmpyr good point there are traps out there that martial artist can get into. once a person gets comfortable with one concept they form an attachment to that. it's kind of like the guy at night who looks for his lost car keys in the light. everyone asks 'why are you just looking there?' He says 'because that's where i can see.'
That Kendo combination looks very useful. I will definitely try this out.
Also it never occurred to me that actually a cane is two weapons in on. Once you said it it was immideatly obvious. You are just the stick master. No two oppinions about it.
@blacksilkblacksilk thanx Silk, your words are way too kind, I have a long way to go, the world is a big place and luckily I've been able to see many stick fighting practitioners on youtube and many of the talent out there is just amazing, and they encourage me to keep at it.
Thanks for the vid I think your moves are effective but I wouldnt want to end up killing the guy :s
