@GameAdvice4U It can be first person. There are probably just some modification you would want to make to the first person camera for situations where the character is climbing up ledges etc.
i use to use this software for my mini arcade games [ which wer 3d ] and i like it ,its good if your gonna make a fun arcade game.. but there is one question i want to ask
do you need to script write to make the physics work or does the program script does all the magic for you....second question : cna u edit the lightmass and fluid similation in torque
so is there any coding required? I'm aspiring to be a game designer and I would like to have something to test around with, the only problem is I have done no 3d programming, and very little coding
No coding is required if you do not wish to add any new functionality. If you just wish to practice building levels you can enter the level editor and add 3D objects and work with the pre-defined entity objects that will help you control the camera, save points, respawn areas, etc.
@ubiqvisuals wow did you make this all by yourself? if so great job. Could a person who learns c# add even more to this engine? I want to make a 3d adventure game myself, and am about to start learning c# I am inspired by 3d zelda type games. Any tips for a noob?
Wow. That looks so amazing and fun. I'm not familiar with 3D programming though. I really want to get into it but I don't know where to start on my OWN time. Some things are just easier learned in school but my school wouldn't create something like this. I would definitely have to pay for this stuff :(.
Anyway, great video. This looks awesome, I'll probably still download it just to give it a try and see what I can do. I liked this video! ^_^
Thanks! A lot of the work required for this was learned on our own time (outside of any educational institution) so it's definitely within your grasp if you work in it after school in your own free time.
Haha, when he falls, if he reaches a certain downward velocity he will start flailing his hands around in the air. When he hits the ground he plays a death animation.
you can expand the ram in a macbook, you could customise it on the apple website, or send it off to a computer surgeon to add it in. you would need to buy the ram seperately if you want to add it in larer, though.
you could probably do this with about 2GB ram, and on a push, maybe 1 GB. For a processor you probably will need a dual core of minimum 2.4GHz, and for graphics, you would be fine with 256mb, but preferably 512 or more, but it would need the correct drivers, and the model would need to be new enough. Tell my the spec and I will predict as to whether it would be able to run this, hopefully correctly.
Well for starters if you go to our website, you can try playing the demo in your browser. This way you can test to see if your PC is good enough to run the kit. As for purchasing a new PC it really depends on what you want, though if you look at our website we have posted some Minimum specification for purchasing the product.
As for cinema4d I'm honestly not too familiar with that product. This kit uses T3D as a base engine, so your best bet is to look through the T3D documentation.
if thats too expensive, you could get these results with just a computer with a spec of about 512 mb graphics, probably 1GB, though, 4GB ram, and a dual core each at about 3GHz
there is a free program called blender that I know can export so that torque understands that. I think you should probably be able to import your cinema4d models into blender, and so on. how much are you willing to spend on your computer?
P.S. I wrote three books, I want to change these books into my very own video game that I can share with friends. Do you recommend I use this or do you know anything else that would be better to use? money isnt an issue with me, thanks.
It really depends on the type of game you want to make. If you want to make an action adventure type game, then I do not know of any other products out there right now besides the 3D Action Adventure Kit that can give you this type of framework (flexible and intelligent camera, screen relative movement, player/environment interaction such as climbing/ledge grabbing). If you just want to make a first person shooter then I'd go with T3D from GarageGames.
there is a piece of software called blender and you can make any type of game on it, although you would have to take a few months to know it inside out
I'm wondering, can you make anything from scrach. I mean I'm a very good artist and I can create amazing artwork. But would I be able to make my art work come to life useing this program, Also how about animations and actions could I make my own up from scrach? I'm looking for something that gives me the ability to make what ever I desire.
If you are a good artist, then the medium to which you apply your skills will not matter. Your art will look good anywhere. With this framework you can make your own animations and models from scratch as you desire.
@ubiqvisuals how user friendly is this system? because I've seen several that have said "oh we're user friendly" and I open the thing up and it's just a grid with ALOT of buttons (no directions). Understand I'm a filmmaker trying to diversify. I would like to work in the video game industry too, and I want to learn some of this, but I don't have a couple of months to learn CC coding and all.
It depends on what you want to learn and what you are trying to use this kit for. I'd say building your own level based on the provided geometry is straight forward, but if you want to create a new character, or make new geometry (using something like Maya) you're going to have to spend some time learning something new.
If you don't have more than a couple months to learn anything, then I think you're wasting you time. No one can learn something to an industry professional level that fast.
@ubiqvisuals oh, no no I'm not trying to become a expert in Maya, Flash, or anything like that. I'm just trying to learn as much on the side as I can so I can work with people who are professionals more smoothly.
If you purchase the full version, you get all the source assets (character maya files), along with the source code to modify the game to add your own animation, or enemies, or weapons, etc.
This is probably a silly question, but is it possible to get a version of this engine that would be combatible with ubuntu Linux? If not then do you know of any engine similar to this that would?
Well this kit is build on top of the Torque Game Engine (now called T3D). I do not believe they have anything like this for ubuntu linux, though I haven't looked into it very much.
Not a silly question, I have a version of the test app compiled and working on my ubuntu box just fine. As for weather or not the adventure kit will work on linux I am not sure...
Thanks! This is just a basic framework for you to start developing your own platforming game and does not go further into game specific features such as assassin's creed since those particular interactions would be specific to everyone's game.

I'll repost my opinion of the kit, since the good information was bumped due to a pointless fight.
Full Disclosure: I work at GarageGames. I have seen a lot of free and paid resources made for Torque Tech over the years. Previously, I wrote code to replicate the capabilities you see in this video.
Let me tell you, this product is SOLID. Polished and invaluable are the best words to describe it. This will save you months of development and asset generation easily covering the cost of the kit.
Yes but do you pay for that time saving effort with a lack in quality regarding models and animations. I gues what I'm asking is, do my animations (walk/run cycles, attack stances, and overall movement) have to be limited or low frame count in order for Torque to be able to handle them. same for the model quality. do you pay for the time saving in quality of models as well?
@GameAdvice4U It can be first person. There are probably just some modification you would want to make to the first person camera for situations where the character is climbing up ledges etc.

Yeah yeah, thanks for your obvious "I didn't really put in the time, so I'm gonna relay that." comment.
Those who use it, they make it work out. Not flip out and give up when bugs appear. They work AROUND it.
By the way, since you seem so versed in game development, where's YOUR perfect, bug-free game engine?

do you have to buy this?

This video is beautiful! Clean and crisp without the 'vacant' feel to alot of newer games these days.

Peffe01 2 years ago 2
Yes but do you pay for that time saving effort with a lack in quality regarding models and animations. I gues what I'm asking is, do my animations (walk/run cycles, attack stances, and overall movement) have to be limited or low frame count in order for Torque to be able to handle them. same for the model quality. do you pay for the time saving in quality of models as well?
DJStry 2 years ago
No, they do not. As I mentioned, you will save months of DEVELOPMENT and ASSET generation.
If you choose to use your own assets, you still have the sample art as placeholders and guides.
The time it would take to develop the features offered in this kit is grounds enough.

What platforms can you port your games for, with this engine?
fiscerspoonerfan 2 years ago
The 3D Action Adventure Kit is an add-on to the Torque Game Engine Advanced. This version of their engine currently supports PC only.

DO YOU WATCH MOVIES OR DVDS RANDY?
jackalneo 2 years ago
now, do I have to own torque 3D for this addon to work, or is torque 3D included automatically? Because the price on the website is $300. thanks

Does it have to be 3rd person? Can it be first person?
GameAdvice4U 7 months ago
@GameAdvice4U It can be first person. There are probably just some modification you would want to make to the first person camera for situations where the character is climbing up ledges etc.

Mightysquire 1 year ago
@Mightysquire I want to know this as well, but this look freaking awesome and definiatly might be my foundation for my game!

@MysticTrunksHQ yes there is cel shading in Torque :) Search the Torque Development forums and you will be able to find the information fairly easy.

Can you implement new animations for certain terrains? Like free running. Or are the animations already there?

@roinbandit2 Yes implementing your own animations for different terrains is easily accomplished.

so is there any coding required? I'm aspiring to be a game designer and I would like to have something to test around with, the only problem is I have done no 3d programming, and very little coding
macandfriends 1 year ago
@macandfriends
No coding is required if you do not wish to add any new functionality. If you just wish to practice building levels you can enter the level editor and add 3D objects and work with the pre-defined entity objects that will help you control the camera, save points, respawn areas, etc.
ubiqvisuals 1 year ago
@ubiqvisuals K, I'll probably tool around with it a bit so I'll have something to fool with when I start learning to code

@ubiqvisuals Is there a terrain editor by any chance? If so I would I love to use it to make a game that will have several islands.
SkelaSnave 1 year ago
@SkelaSnave Yes there is a terrain editor that comes with the game engine :)
ubiqvisuals 1 year ago
@ubiqvisuals wow did you make this all by yourself? if so great job. Could a person who learns c# add even more to this engine? I want to make a 3d adventure game myself, and am about to start learning c# I am inspired by 3d zelda type games. Any tips for a noob?

josifjoey 1 year ago
Zeffa1234 1 year ago
@Zeffa1234

McLardopolis 2 years ago
it will be enough, actually, dont worry
McLardopolis 2 years ago
yeah, i think thatll be enough, just try not to overdo the physics in your games. too much of that may slow down the framerate
McLardopolis 2 years ago
you could probably do this with about 2GB ram, and on a push, maybe 1 GB.
McLardopolis 2 years ago
what is the spec of the macbook?
McLardopolis 2 years ago
this reminds of shadow of the colossus check it out its like identical
djrea4815 2 years ago
Well for starters if you go to our website, you can try playing the demo in your browser. This way you can test to see if your PC is good enough to run the kit. As for purchasing a new PC it really depends on what you want, though if you look at our website we have posted some Minimum specification for purchasing the product.
As for cinema4d I'm honestly not too familiar with that product. This kit uses T3D as a base engine, so your best bet is to look through the T3D documentation.
justinliebregts 2 years ago
if thats too expensive, you could get these results with just a computer with a spec of about 512 mb graphics, probably 1GB, though, 4GB ram, and a dual core each at about 3GHz
McLardopolis 2 years ago
there is a free program called blender that I know can export so that torque understands that. I think you should probably be able to import your cinema4d models into blender, and so on. how much are you willing to spend on your computer?
McLardopolis 2 years ago
P.S. I wrote three books, I want to change these books into my very own video game that I can share with friends. Do you recommend I use this or do you know anything else that would be better to use? money isnt an issue with me, thanks.
MrTCGAMES 2 years ago 2
@MrTCGAMES
If you just want to make a first person shooter then I'd go with T3D from GarageGames.
ubiqvisuals 2 years ago
there is a piece of software called blender and you can make any type of game on it, although you would have to take a few months to know it inside out
McLardopolis 2 years ago
I'm wondering, can you make anything from scrach. I mean I'm a very good artist and I can create amazing artwork. But would I be able to make my art work come to life useing this program, Also how about animations and actions could I make my own up from scrach? I'm looking for something that gives me the ability to make what ever I desire.
MrTCGAMES 2 years ago
@MrTCGAMES
If you are a good artist, then the medium to which you apply your skills will not matter. Your art will look good anywhere. With this framework you can make your own animations and models from scratch as you desire.
ubiqvisuals 2 years ago
@ubiqvisuals he's possibly talking about 2D not 3D. Garagegames 3D engines are not the way to go for this work.
luckytrifle 1 year ago
@ubiqvisuals how user friendly is this system? because I've seen several that have said "oh we're user friendly" and I open the thing up and it's just a grid with ALOT of buttons (no directions). Understand I'm a filmmaker trying to diversify. I would like to work in the video game industry too, and I want to learn some of this, but I don't have a couple of months to learn CC coding and all.
demboys18 1 year ago
It depends on what you want to learn and what you are trying to use this kit for. I'd say building your own level based on the provided geometry is straight forward, but if you want to create a new character, or make new geometry (using something like Maya) you're going to have to spend some time learning something new.
If you don't have more than a couple months to learn anything, then I think you're wasting you time. No one can learn something to an industry professional level that fast.
ubiqvisuals 1 year ago
@ubiqvisuals oh, no no I'm not trying to become a expert in Maya, Flash, or anything like that. I'm just trying to learn as much on the side as I can so I can work with people who are professionals more smoothly.
