I used to take these things home from the beach all the time. I had a giant fish tank with 10-15 of them, but only one changed it shell until they all died. The last hermit crab I had was Lavender, and it look me 3 days to realize she was dead. I just thought it was her napping spot. ;-;

@luisyboy The marine ones have blue or colorful eyes. If the pet store you got him at had him in a water tank, he's marine but if it wasn't water, it was land. Even though it says "land hermit crabs" be sure you give them a pool of salt water!

I had one, his name was Jeff, He had a awesome blue metallic shell, we picked out 4 more , 2 were dull gray and the other 2 cool, multi colors. He moved to the other gray shell within a day, without even outgrownin his! It P'd me off
