  • Just to let you know, I made this for Thanksgiving and it was AWESOME. Used the whole orange as you suggested, and it was a perfect combo of sweet and tart! Yummeh!

  • @laeknir001 Hooray! So happy to (kind of) be part of your Thanksgiving meal! ;)

  • Hilah, you look like Lisa Kidrow from "Friends" in that pilgrim woman's outfit! Real cute! =D

  • I really think you shouldn't* have used the bitter white part of the orange. You would never eat the whole orange normaly so why put the whole thing in cranberry sauce.... it comes out much better with just the pulp/juice & some zest! just a tip :]

  • @kittycat1021 That't the way I always do it and it's not bitter because of all the sugar! The pith and rind are where most of the antioxidants are, too!

  • i love the sophisticated vocab used in this " exploded"

  • looks yummy!

  • @curlygurly75 Thanks! It is! :)

  • I'm getting a phoebe from Friends vibe

  • Nive video recipe and as always very cool outfit.

Maybe you should have done the whole video in black and white, would look like a real classic show.

    Markus

  • nice :)

  • Hey Hilah, will it taste pretty good without the oranges? I hate oranges with a passion!

  • @theroxeedoodle Sure, babe! You could just leave it out altogether, or substitute an apple!

  • @theroxeedoodle how in the hell can you hate oranges with a passion ridiculous you need to have your taste buds operated on

  • you look like phoebe from friends

  • Looks yummy! Loved the He-Man reference at the end :)

  • @aglanceatmyworld Glad you got it! :)

  • Gonna try this. Never threw in the orange with the pith before. Just used the skin and juice.

BTW, I've been looking for my cereal bowl everywhere and noticed you have it. Could ya return to me please? :-)

  • @ricklude cool! Using the pith and membranes makes a thicker sauce because those parts are where all the pectin is in the orange.

  • hmmmm, is it me or does hilah have a huge collection of costumes?

No matter what she always looks lovely :)

    And she can cook too

and has a good sense of humour

  • @meks040 Ha! Thank you! I don't have that many "costumes" exactly, just a bunch of weird clothes I can mix and match. (PS that's actually a handkerchief on my head.)

  • You look so hot in that outfit!

  • Looks great!

  • @TheVittleVlog Thank, Rick!

  • thanks for the upload, hilah.... looks awesome! just curious, though... do u eat the orange peel? is that safe?

  • @JustNess78 Yep, it's fine. I do recommend getting an organically grown orange if you can!

  • aweeeesome costume!

  • @TheSquishyMonster Thank youuuu!!!!

  • :)

  • He-Man reference FTW! :D

  • @deffcat :)

  • @hilahcooking what do cranberry taste like I've never tired them or cranberry cause

  • @shadow5273 Cranberries are extremely tart! That's why you have to add so much sugar. They remind me of lingonberries if you've had those.

  • Does the skin need to be left on the orange bits? Doesn't it taste bitter?

  • @cupchange It doesn't taste bitter. The skin is where all of the orange oils are and it adds most of the orange flavor.

  • How is it possible that you look hot in that outfit????

Anyway, that sauce looks yummy. I always like sweet sauces with meat and that one looks like the good version of the IKEA meatballs sauce, shame cramberries are sooooooo expensive and difficult to find where I life, even frozen. Maybe raspberries could do a good option, they are still expensive but easier to get here.

  • @Fancylooks Haha! Thank you! :)

I agree about sweet sauces on meat. This does remind me of the lingonberry sauce at IKEA! It's not quite as sweet though. If you could find sour cherries they would be a good substitute! If you try with raspberries, maybe start with 1/2 cup sugar since they are sweeter than cranberries.

  • Wow!! Hilah that looks great. I've seen recipies using the zest from the orange peel, but never the whole orange. Thanks

  • @deview123 Thank you! Using the whole orange makes a more jelly-like sauce. I hope you try it!

  • wow... looks easy. the peels of the oranges arent chewy?

  • @hmmBEEFY They add a little texture, but the cooking softens them a lot.

  • This is very much like one recipe the Neelys use.

  • very nice recipe added ur video to my blog see at freshrecipes.blogspot.com thnk u

  • LOVE the outfit girl! Love the recipe too! If you need to escape from relatives or you just want to have a reallllly fun Thanksgiving - add orange liqueur. Oh ya ;)

  • @iloveflavor Yum!

  • My husband uses this recipe, and adds apples, pecans and splash of wine. Just to mix up. You'll want to eat this stuff all year long! But you can't buy cranberries all year long!

  • @joycloud Sounds like great additions!

  • Hilah do a episode only wearing pasties or in a hooters outfit!

  • I think it's funny when people take the cran sauce from the can, leave it in the cylinder shape and slice it. lol. I like the cardamom in your recipe, pilgrim....and nice teaser shot.

  • @MrJingjong Most people are raised on the jellied stuff, were you? IF so did you ever try the whole berried canned stuff? It's freaking nasty. Cranberries have a very tough kind or skin along with prickly tops on the berries making them a really gross experience if you were brought up on purely the jellied sauce. Perhaps it is better from scratch with cooking them, never tried it myself, but I can say the whole "Fruit" canned cranberry sauce is nasty.

  • @Standard420247 oh, for sure. When cooking, you're basically making a compote and the fruit breaks down. There's a little texture, but nothing like the processed stuff. Hilah's cranberry sauce please!

  • @MrJingjong Ha! Yeah, we did that when I was a kid, all fanned out on a plate.

  • where are the ridges?

  • Super sexy pilgrim lady making cranberry sauce! Darn it, you're cute in that outfit, Where did you learn how to make cranberry sauce?

  • @TaxEvasion I'm guessing from that super secret website where you can find recipes for anything. I'll let you in on the big secret but you have to promise not to tell anyone!

It's called Google!.... SHHHHH! Don't tell anyone about it.

  • @TaxEvasion Thank you! I'm not sure where I learned about this. It's just one of the things I've been making so long I don't remember when I started.

  • Love Cranberries!!!

  • @L4dyE Me too!

  • The bubbles look delicious that's the description you were looking for !

  • @kevmarkpat Exactly!

  • Hello Hilah.. love yr cookings..

Can this sauce be put on top of a cheesecake?

  • @hirdasari Only if the cheesecake says its ok.

  • @hirdasari Thank you! I bet that would be good! This sauce is still fairly tart so maybe try it on the side at first and see how you like it.

  • i like it when they pop. sometimes it pops so hard and loud it squishes everywhere and you get scared XD

  • @PlatypusGuitar You're cracking me up! :D

  • Additionally, I love the He-Man reference.

  • @adambowling1 He-Man was my secret boyfriend when I was a kid. ;)

  • @hilahcooking He-Man was my secret boyfriend as well :)

  • I love the outfit.

  • Love the pilgrim outfit!

  • @dar482 Thanks!
