  • there should be a link to a site for the sheet music :D

  • And I thought the piano piece in Butterflies & Hurricanes was difficult

  • 15 dislikes!!! DDDD:

  • from 1:15 :|| awesome :|

  • This piece is a pastiche of multiple composers. Everyone knows that - but it's a rock musician bringing awareness of classical music so it's a good thing.

  • Matt should do this in concerts instead of playing the blasted "Undisclosed Desires" or "Guiding Light".

  • why does the great themes end up so early?

  • @ocapoeiristadiogo Only the good die young my friend. that is a shame (A Crying Shame possibly?) Well except for a few songs like Citizen Erased XD

  • I think my speakers blew up at 2:50 because of so much awesomenes. The risks of listening to MUSE :/

  • Chopin Liszt= Shopping list.

    :D

  • do anyone knows wich piano was used to record this song? I´d like to play it, but can´t find out the tune

  • @andrmour i am pretty sure that Matt used a Kawai (large) to record this one.

  • oh what a nice title.

  • was that a MISTAKE? 2:04

  • @GreenDayandMuse

mistake? good heavens NO matt bellamy NEVER makes mistakes!!!!

  • @GreenDayandMuse Kill him.

  • @EVILBROWNIEMIX you wanna kill me? or him? xD

  • @GreenDayandMuse It most certainly could be. They don't go back and "fix" the "mistakes" made while recording. Thats how they heard it so thats how the world'll hear it. Or it could just be a 2nd. They clash when played.

  • @GreenDayandMuse No you simply misunderstood. You see Matt has a somewhat short attention span so he simply got bored of perfection and doing things the "right" way so he trailed off to see if we would notice, some did, some of them realized that this was purposely done to mix us up so it was no mistake, it was a trick note :D Anyway love this song :P

  • i guess 15 people wanted to hear some guitar aswell.... dudes, its song about a piano... dont get angry

  • I'm glad he's inspired by awesome composers like Liszt and Chopin, he's awesome as well :D

  • theres a picture like this but Dom is laughing his head off

  • @evmuketa34521 where? I wanna see....

  • I speak from personal experience when I say that this is a BITCH to learn.

  • @LilyTheAnnoyance well thats because this is an improvisation :)

  • @spagetti001 And furthermore, it completely lacks structure >.<

That's what I love about Matt's piano. Lots of slides and no structure.

As a pianist, reading his sheet music is like taking a journey into the mind of a madman.

  • @LilyTheAnnoyance The line between a genius and a madman is short and easy to cross ;P

  • i want my first dance at my wedding to be to this...even though its a bit angry...lol

  • this was a fucking improvisation!!!

    wtf wtf wtf o.O

  • @maryjanesoares It does take skill but if you learn chord progressions, the only hard part is coming up with good melodies, Matt has an awesome affinity for that.

  • @lonewolf604

i know, i mean i do some improvisation in my classes (i play transversal flute) but in piano is amazing. matt is god :D

  • The fourteen dislikes are from Beethoven, Chopin, Josef Hofmann, Bach, Franz Liszt, Rubinstein, Sviatoslav Richter, Georges Cziffra, Martha Argerich, Dinu Lipatti, Jorge Bolet, Maurizio Pollin, Vladimir Horowitz and Mozart.

  • @TheWeirdF You forgot Rachmaninov... :)

  • @AREM16137 I wanted to say the same thing, but then I thought Matt loves Rachmaninov so much, he would never have the heart to dislike Matt :P

  • @mrsbookthief How true that is 0_0

  • @AREM16137 I read the comment and said that :P

  • @TheWeirdF yeah because they know a much better legend to music has come....

  • @TheWeirdF I'm sorry, but I must say this: All this great composers wouldn't have disliked this! Every single one should have liked this like a true classical masterpiece, because that is what it is.

Matt Bellamy is as good as all those pianists and makes all the people who once disliked classical music, like it a lot.

(I just had to say this as a classical pianist myself ;) I love Muse!!:D)

  • @Davinovitz Lol I dunno much about this sort of thing I just googled "famous composers" lol. I'm sure anyone who can appreciate classical music would like this.

  • 14 bitches should have a seat to the hell

  • @Frunde4u and the Hell is too nice for them^^

  • @Clairalli agreed

  • musegasm

  • Matt has 209465895149 fingers

  • Mozart would masturabate to this!

  • "Video cannot be played on mobile." RAAAAAA -.-

  • @givemehugmarty This video is too awesome to can be played xD

  • I heard he played this song randomly out of boredom? Is this true? :O

  • @Ladei4Lyfe i wouldnt be suprised matt doesnt have to try and he can still make the best music :) MUSE

  • Wow...it sounds like Chopin.

  • @piccolo4177 Yay! I'm not the only one who thinks so. ;)

  • Why does it last only 2:58??? It should never end...

  • Where can I find this track for download? I absolutely love it. And Muse too, of course. (:

  • @PeruvianGirliee

    youtube downloader

  • 2:04 Noooo, sloppy Matt! ;)

  • You can see that even at this stage he was thinking of writing a Symphony

  • 11 people clicked on piano thing - tutorial after watching this

  • ;0 nice!

  • ...

  • Matt is an inspiring pianist! From Chopin and Debussy to contemporary and modern rock, he can do it all! Phenominal musical artist. Idk if any of you have ever played Chopin OR Debussy, but both can be demanding, but So beautiful. I always struggled with Chopin's irregular rhythmns and harmonies, but I always enjoyed the end product (after a lot of work). He is such an emotional artist! But I'd ten times rather hear Matt Bellamy ;P

  • from apocalypse to bliss.....my ears have never heard such beauty as this....

  • It's called "Matt's Concerto"

  • If you like this, search for Chopin. This was pretty directly influenced by it.

  • @unclefeezus --I can see the Chopin influence. For some reason, I was also reminded of Debussy. Maybe it's just me, but there are certain sequences of notes that echo Debussy in my ears.

  • @CYYZspotter

Honestly, Everytime I look at myself, I see 7 multi million selling albums, 30+ awards, the guitar i made 'Number 1 riff of the 21st Century' on and international respect for being counted as one of the best guitarist's in the world...oh no. Matt Bellamy does.

    Shut up.

  • @TheFatninjakid Don't tellm to shutup...i love Muse mor than everyone here! i listen to Muse all day long...im not insulting them..what i was trying to say is that i have similar composing styles as Matt Bellamy...and don't try to tell me matt's accomplishment as i already know them and because i have a high qualifiation in the musc field..so dont try to say i have no accomplishments.

  • This "piano THING" brings tears to my eyes, it's so...SO beautiful! I don't know how I could live without Matt Bellamy or Muse!

  • Improvised solo piano piece by Matthew Bellamy, Influenced Ocean Etude Op 25 No 12 Frédéric Chopin.

  • @miouzz92 For me it sounds like some Chopin, Wagner, Rachmaninov and a little bit of Debussy mixed together. F... great!

  • 2:58 the worst part.

  • ALLEGRO!! ALLEGRO!! DATARA DATARA!

  • It's like Matt Bellamy's hands are having sex with my ears.

    And it feels magnificent.

  • good ol' muse

  • I guess this is just an ass kickin impro matt did.

It doesn't have any structure, you know...

    However, it's awesome... :D

  • MATTY!!!! DAMN HE'S GOOD!!!!! <3

  • Exo. Symph. pt.2, Cross-Pollination is what it reminds me of.

  • @Wuvdeer heaven is what it reminds me of

  • at 1:15 I half expected the Ruled by Secrecy piano bit to start :)

  • Isn't this extremely close to one of the Exogenesis Symphonies in Resistance???

  • @Wuvdeer not at all

  • Matt = the bomb

  • Matt is the chuck norris version for music while chuck is for everything else.

  • @shukaku Matt Norris

  • musical genious.... <3

  • Matt is the son of chuck norris

  • @tailsnintendo Please explain the Chuck Norris thing, I have been living under a stone for the past 3 months...

  • @sparklysparks77 lern2searchurself

  • @sparklysparks77 you can't breathe because chuck roundhouse kicked the air away

  • @tailsnintendo no Chuck Norris is Matt in a cheap disguise.

  • @musicResistances nope.avi

if it was chuck it will be moar awesome.

  • isnt this called matts concerto?

  • What a genius

  • OMG first time listening to this!!! It sended shivers all over my body!!!!!!!! Matt you are... no words can describe you...

  • this is really beautiful!!! it makes me think of New York at night!!! strange....

  • Matthew Bellamy is my MUSE! <3

  • @JEA21B I agree - 1:13 - 1:31 IS beast. Absolutely amazing

And how can he do it? Because he is god.

  • I liked the part with the piano.

  • @Xemnas677 I know right?!?!?!

  • @Xemnas677 HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! ur funny! me too

  • Chuck Norris jokes should be replaced with Matt Bellamy jokes

  • @greenturdle matt bellamy gets worship from chuck norris, thats how good he is.

  • @greenturdle - I love muse and all, but to suggest replacing Chuck Norris with Matt is just plain blasphemy! They are two different kinds of awesome, irreplaceable in their respected categories.

  • i wish matt bellamy and roger waters create music together, it could be the most amazing music ever

  • 0:59 and on is awesome but 1:13 to 1:31 is beast... how did he write this?

  • @JEA21B Did he write this or is it just classical music he is playing?

  • @limbdarkening I think he wrote it.. ;)

  • @JEA21B with great skill and ability :)

  • @JEA21B because he is a God :D

  • how is possible not to like this.. 9 ppl must be deaf.

  • Rachmaninoff reincarnated....

  • i want to like this over and over again. :p

i wish i had as much skill as matt!

  • @Cedillos95 Definitively maybe bro...

  • this is why, muse is my muse.

  • without words..

  • Here's to the people who are spitting nonsense, saying creating music is easy.

I create music, myself (Haven't uploaded anything new or recent to YouTube) And while creating music is easy as ever, creating GOOD music is the challenge. Anyone can pick up a guitar and throw 3 chords together (Linkin Park, Jonas Brothers, etc.) But to make something that is pleasing to the ears can only come from a true musical mind. Matt Bellamy is my hero, and the most musical person I know. Long live Muse!

  • Finally a really good song...

  • music > title

  • I absolutely love the title of this.

  • Massive eargasms :-)

  • magical just goes to show what a beautiful instrument the piano is

  • @beatriz1119 hahaha yes :D

  • Matt Bellamy can do Rock Music

Matt Bellamy can do Pop Music

Matt Bellamy can do Classical Music

    Matt Bellamy can do Everything

    Matt Bellamy is god <3

  • @GagaChocolate you forgot electronica, progressive metal, space rock & ballads, but i agree with you.

  • @aa428507 YEs, he can do a lot of thing, I couldn't say them all ;)

  • @GagaChocolate Agreed! And this is why we say God is Good :D Long Live Muse!

  • @GagaChocolate uh -_- hes not god though.

  • @yukikoakaemo You're right. God destroys Matt Bellamy on piano, and he shreds faster than anyone. Shit's in the bible yo.

  • @GagaChocolate Give the whole band credit please =). there all gods!

  • @thejoey0610 Yes haha it's true ^^ I posted this because it's Piano Thing, wich is only piano played by Matt :) But DOM HOWARD AND CHRIS WOLSTENHOLME FTW :D <3 (and we can't forget Morgan and Tom too ;D)

  • @GagaChocolate hes not god. he is just a human. I love him very mucch and I know he is realy talanted.

  • @NIKAGEORGIAN Don't take those comments literally, it's pretty much just a metaphor to get their point across that he's one talented mother fucker and that they love him and his music. I think we can all agree that muse's music is something God probably listens to anyway.

  • @hcvideoproductions i know it's a metaphor, but anyway I think it's insulting for religious people like me.

matthew IS really really really AWESOME. AND I love almost every his song

  • @NIKAGEORGIAN Just ignore them than. Their not meant to insult at all. I'm catholic-christian and I personally don't mind those comments. People will have their opinions though

  • @GagaChocolate Matt Bellamy can do Me...

I'm sorry, that was lame, my apologies.

  • @LilyTheAnnoyance Gotcha!

  • @GagaChocolate that just describes it...

  • @GagaChocolate Don't forget Metal and Progressive... though I suppose they are rock variants.

  • Just beautiful amazing its unexplainable. its Matthew Bellamy

  • @Cedillos95

Eh, it's good, but you are over stating it allot. lol

  • @Shonem Well, there ain't a way you could know, since he didn't live back then, and now influences are different, along with the enviroment, which contributes a lot. I think creating good music is way harder now, a man with his talent back then, would have easily been something reminscent of a music god, haha.

  • @Shonem PLAYING IT, making it real, is what is WAY easier, not creating it. You didn't really get my point LOL.

What I mean, there is too much in the media, both killing the brain and influencing, coming up with something original is WAY harder now.

Once again, I repeat, a man with his talent back then would have been totally awesome C:

  • @Shonem we are not talking about the performance...we are talking about the piece it's self ....It may be a piece recorded by a midi creator.....we are not talking about that....we are talking about the inspiration....

  • All people hating on Matt need to shut up and go to hell. I bet at least 90% of you haters wouldn't know piano is it was shoved up your ass. This is really beautiful!

  • @psychedelicbluesdiva It's called envy. Lol.

  • nobody touch's me like him.♥

  • I just LOVE THIS!

  • Matt is the fucking rolemodel to EVERY musician!

  • kick aaaaaaaaaaaaasss! r u srsly? dayyyuuuumm this guys got some talent!

  • and i thought i had all the b-sides. this is awesome.

I hope i never find them all. There always better be something i haven't discovered yet.

  • God! This is the front man of a popular modern alternative band! Where does this sort of genius come from?

  • beutifull

  • Pure beauty. (`:

  • Wow that is just so amazing! He's such a talented guy

  • Which Rachmaninov piece does this most resemble? Someone tell me cause there has been many comments stating it's similarity to Rachmaninov's work. I want to compare!

  • @Dreamdaggers Is it a joke? =)

  • I pity those 7 people who didn't like this. It shows how small their minds are :)

  • Comment removed

  • I listened to this for the first time at 2:20 AM.

    My half-asleep mind was blown.

  • Not trying to criticise, because Matt's piano stuff does sound pretty amazing, and he's a great song writer, but the majority of this is just arpeggios. It's not particularly complicated or clever, probably just improv.

  • @aquaticstone i've come to realize that your right, but it still sounds good, and even the arpeggios he does well

  • Beautiful...has moved me to tears. Well, I already have been a bit teary for other reasons but this just pushed me over the edge...it's amazing what muse can do to you...

  • I thought Rachmaninoff, Chopin, Debussy, ect. died a long time ago and would never...ever...come back. But they did. His name is Matt Bellamy and he is also a Rock-guitar God. That's a heaven sent deal.

  • @BeautifulTragedyx21 don`t fuck it , don`t compare mathew whit chopin or that awesome pianists, mathew is great and awesome in piano and guitar and even voice but can`t be compared whit greates classical piano masters .

  • @imlittlealbert Idk. I think he's amazing. Him and Rachmaninoff are on the same level for me. He's in my classical playlist and he just blends right in. So, I disagree with you, I really think that if he were to put more time into it and do something other than this improv piece it would be amazing. But if you don't think that whatever. I don't want to piss anybody off with my opinion.

  • @BeautifulTragedyx21 I agree with you. What makes Matthew's piano performance so beautiful, so emotionally moving is that he doesn't believe himself to be a professional pianist. He plays the piano from his heart, the music flows from him out of pure love for the music. That's not the case with most professional pianist. The performance becomes about them performing, how perfectly they play every note, not the actual music being played.

  • @BeautifulTragedyx21 Again, I agree with you. I truely believe that in the future Bellamy will be among the names Rachmaninoff, Chopin, Debussy, ect., when people speak of master compossers and pianists. How sad, pathetic, crule and selfish people are to wish this brilliant man only the small, restrictive tital of post-punk rock star.

  • @PandoraNYC1 I know!! I think, not only Matt but Muse is in general, is SOOO underrated! Some ppl tell me they are overrated but I don't see it. They don't get the credit they deserve. Matt is by far the best songwriter/composer (well this is my opinion) of the 21st century. People don't actually see his talent. Butterflies and Hurricanes is really all you need! He is a true musician and there really aren't many of them left these days.

  • @BeautifulTragedyx21 Yes, I agree. I'm listening to Unintended as I write this, and I'm blown away by how insightful and emotinal this song is. Then to know Matt wrote this song at 18 or 19 years of age is amazing. To be able to analyze/verbalize the workings of the human heart and psyche, and relationships, then compose such moving music to accompany it at such an age is mind blowing - to me anyway.

  • @PandoraNYC1 hahaha agreed. He wrote the opening riff to Plug in Baby in 96. How old was he...like 16. That's one of the greatest riffs of all time. That's incredible. And then don't get me started on how underrated Citizen Erased and Butterflies and Hurricanes are...

  • This is possibly one of the greatest compositions I've heard from the great (soon to be Sir) Matthew Bellamy.
