read the end of faith .if u come from chrisindom with the traditional veiws u wil be at a disadvantage, u will find it hard to find common gound if u belive in a god with atheist,i have his book to this day, found much i agree with but his fault in the end is with the so called reps of god short commings who are trapped by the common belifes they cannot seem to let go of that handicap them from the start.i still belive in god, but i understand where atheist are comming from too.
I don't like Sam that much, I actually know Christians who would vote secularily and make decisions in a secular way. I know Christians who laugh at the bible as much as I do (an atheist). I don't take blanket statements, and not all Christians are like that. Yes they still hold a belief that is unsupported by evidence and could be eschewed, but they are still very progressive.
The Atheist faith that life is a creation of chance, is "unsupported by evidence", or scientific theory. Same for the faith that chance materialized matter.
Harris is an excellent example of why Ph.D.s should not be the least bit impressive any longer. He believes chance created intelligence from matter, and that we are particulate experiencing consciousness, rather than consciousness animating particulate.
Harris is a professional life cheapener fit for TeeVee programming.
@onefodderunit I was going to refute your stupid argument about atheism but @Dream0Asylum pretty much nailed it. we dont believe because there is no evidence. that is not faith. if i told you right now that i was god, could you disprove it? no you couldnt-you just wouldnt believe it because you have reason to. but that is not faith that i am not a god is it? and im atheist and i do believe in love. i dont believe you need a deity to have love though.
Are you drunk? That Atheist confirmed his faith that matter created life after he lied pathologically about it for hours.
Love? You believe love is generated by chemicals in your head. If someone tells you they 'love' you, that's just chemicals talking, according to your soulless faith.
@onefodderunit Hey mate you are getting your ass kicked in this debate. You can't even get them to retaliate to your insults. Certainly confirms my belief that religious dogma shackles the mind.
@onefodderunit no. evolution has nothing to do with atheism. i honestly dont know how one can be so retarded. ill say it again. atheism has nothing to do with evolution. if yiu argue againtst that then you re retarded. and i dont believe that a god cannot exist, i just dont believe that all our interpretations of god are accurate. we ve got nothing to go by.
Intelligence creates order. Chance is chaos, the opposite of order.
Are you too soulless to admit there is no scientific theory for the faith of Atheism that chance once created life out of matter?
How about the faith of Atheism that chance materialized matter? No scientific theory for that fantasy either. Do you admit Atheism is faith in chance, and rejection of intelligence?
@onefodderunit yes, there is no faith with regards to atheism. its saying, theres no evidence to prove god exists. "How about the faith of Atheism that chance materialized matter?"
again, thats evolution, not atheism. atheism does not have an explanation for how life originated. i suggest you read that line again. and no atheism is not the rejection of intelligence. it analyses the claims made by religion and decides based on scientific fact, not fables and myths.
@onefodderunit i can be atheist and still believe that all religion is wrong. you assume that one of the religions on earth is correct. and there is absolutely no evidence to suggest that intent created life. none at all. if you could provide one, then ill eat my words. atheism is not counter scientific. science is everything that atheism depends on. provide one example of how atheism is counter scientific.
@onefodderunit not all atheists believe that our existence is by chance. you re generlising and attacking something wrongfully. and how exactly is it counter scientific. how does it hinder science? still waiting for that answer. and for fucks sake, stop talking about evolution and the big bang theory. that has nothing to do with atheism! and my life is dedicated to what i know as fact. thats why im not religious. because theres no evidence. thats why im atheist.
@onefodderunit again, atheism has nothing to do with our origin.<===read that sentence. keep reading it because it wont sink in. it doesnt apply to how humans came to be. it doesnt have its own theory. and i asked you to provide evidence to show we re here by design/intent. you havent done it. i ask you to prove that atheism hinders science. you havent done it. if you dont bleieve that i am god, is that a faith that im not a god? stop making claims and justify it with evidence
@onefodderunit i gave you the chance to justify your claims with evidence. you failed. you argue just like every other christian. you generalise, you make wild claims that are not true and are not supported by evidence, you get the big bang theory and evolution confused with atheism, and when you've lost you just start calling us phsycopaths etc.
@onefodderunit ok firstly its impossible to be jewish and atheist. secondly im australian. and prove that our design is intelligent. why do we have an appendix? why is our eye so limited on the elctromagnetic spectrum? why do we eat and breathe out of the same hole which makes choking inevitable? why do men ejeculate far more semen than necessary to impregenate a woman without increasing the chances of conceiving? doesnt seem too intelligent to me.
Right. You can't be a Jewish Atheist, but many European Jews like the crude hack Bill Maher are Atheist. Harris looks like he could be European Jew, as well.
If you don't appreciate your body, you may be much less fortunate in your next lifetime.
Why do you lie pathologically? Your faith that life is a chance creation, is a faith. You even lie about this simple fact.
@onefodderunit if you re atheist, you renounce your faith. harris is atheist. therefore he is not jewish. and not all atheists believe that we re here by chance! i do appreciate my body. i believe that this is my one and only life because i have no reason to believe that ill get a second life you i choose to live this life to the fullest. and please, quote me where i have lied. you keep saying ive lied. go back and look for something ive said and prove me wrong.
@onefodderunit thats it. im done. you re retarded. some atheists believe life is by intent, others dont. thats not atheism. you cannot be jewish and an atheist. that is contradictory. and the yougoslavia wars was the fault of orthodox christians, not darwinists or atheists. that is the stupidest thing ive ever read. im out. im done here. i cannot argue with someone as stupid as you are.
@onefodderunit the serbians were the one doing the 'ethnic cleansing' after the breakup of yugoslavia-yes or no? the serbs were orthodox christians yes or no? where are you getting your facts from? the orthodox christians were animals to the muslims.
You're trying to divert from the mass murderous Bolshevik Atheists now. You are very transparent.
Good news though. The Zionist pity-myth of '6 million' is a total fabrication. No film produced in the US or anywhere in Europe after WWII mentioned a 'gas chamber' or a 'genocide' of Jews until Hollywood in the 1970s.
Churchill, Eisenhower and de Gaulle never mention the pity-myth in their memoirs about the war.
There's not a single verified gassing of anyone in WWII.
@onefodderunit Are you kidding me? are you actually genuine? we were talking about what happened in 1990-1995 in yugoslavia and now you re talking about ww2? and please, for the love of god, dont tell me that you re saying the holocausts didnt happen.
Atheist, you tried to divert the topic away from the mass murderous Bolshevik Atheists.
Your faith that life is unintended byproduct of chance is counter scientific. Chance is chaotic. Only intelligence designs and creates. Atheism is Orthodox rejection of intelligence
What "holocaust"? No mention of your Zionist pity-myth in any international film until the 1970s in Hollywood. No mention of your Zionist pity-myth in over 7000 pages of WWII memoirs. Pity denied.
@onefodderunit Evolution is not chance. Though mutation and variation occurs at random the process working above it takes the non random odds of survival in an environment and accumulates beneficial traits. Much like every card is randomly distrubuted in a casino yet the house always wins.
Also I dont see how pointing out murderous atheist will get anywhere as there are good and bad people on both sides and does not adress which idealogy it more likely correct.
@onefodderunit mutation is random, evolution is not. Much like every hand of cards delt is completely random yet the house always wins because the process is not random. Pleae learn the theory of evolution. 200 years of PHD biologists around the world writing thousands upon thousands of peer-reviewed papers with facts, statistics, and hard numbers are not wrong. You are.
Darwin's theory is that genetic mutations (always random) are passed on by Natural Selection, as beneficial to survivability. The theory is over 150 years old.
Keep the faith that it will someday be proven factual. Meanwhile, science evolves.
@onefodderunit honestly i dont know if youre retarded or just trolling. you must be american if im correct?
so you ignore the millions of websites that also state this as fact, in fact most of the world knows it to be fact. only the retards dont. there were hundreds of thousands of eyewitnesses and personal accounts. ive spoken to one whos brother was killed in the gas chambers. he was 12 at the time. but no, you believe its all one big conspiracy. one big lie. you re the biggest idiot
You lie about the fact that many European Jews are Atheist on the video with Bill Maher, a European Atheist Jew.
Why weren't fantasy gassings or a 'genocide' of Jews mentioned in any film produced internationally about WWII until Hollywood in the 1970s?
Why didn't Churchill, Eisenhower or de Gaulle mention it in a combined 7000 pages of WWII memoirs published as late as 1959? No word about 'gas chambers', no '6 million' victimized Jews, and no 'genocide' of Jews
@winston2015 Religulous is an asinine pile of tenuous links and spurious claims that I'd argue does more damage to the secular/atheist movement than it does to religion. It uses religionesque presentation methods by only reporting things that would seem to agree with it and nothing that disagrees with it. It's conspiracy theorising not rational, critical thinking.
David Cole, an American European Atheist Jew who had to go into hiding because of death threats made on him by the terrorist organization The Jewish Defense League, debunked the Zionist pity-myth from Auschwitz. He catches the Auschwitz curator lying on film, but admitting the 'gas chamber' was constructed by the Communists after the war.
@onefodderunit 'Nuremberg was a show trial' -and that surprises you? The winners always write history. At least the age of information has empowered those who care to look beyond what we are fed by our corporate masters.
"you tried to divert the topic away from the mass murderous Bolshevik Atheists."
The point is that secular political systems COULD potentially be totalitarian, but theocratic political systems are totalitarian BY DEFINITION. You can't have a society based on reason and democracy when the government pushes certain religious views down peoples' throats.
The major issue here is dogmatism and irrationality, which are at the base of a lot of misery in the world.
@onefodderunit oh and and you didnt provide evidence that life was created with intent or that our 'design' is intelligent. one again you make assertions that you do not justify with facts. what a surprise
@onefodderunit You got you ass kicked again mate. Got to hand it to you you can take the punishment. The problem with arguing with athiests is that unlike yourself they actually research before debating a subject
@onefodderunit I'm an atheist too. Most of us don't believe that life is chance, we just don't know. That doesn't make life cheap for us, we don't need a deity to make life valuable. I disagree with his blanket statements, that's all.
You have to be honest with yourself no matter what.
There are two options. Intent or Chance. All Atheist share the faith that life was not intended. That life is a byproduct of chance,
In the faith of the soulless, chemicals in your head are making every decision for you, and generating every feeling, The love you feel is not from your soul. It's a chemical reaction in your coconut. If someone tells you they love you, remind yourself that it's just chemicals, not soul.
"The atheist does not say 'there is no God,' but he says 'I know not what you mean by God; I am without idea of God'; the word 'God' is to me a sound conveying no clear or distinct affirmation. ... The Bible God I deny; the Christian God I disbelieve in; but I am not rash enough to say there is no God as long as you tell me you are unprepared to define God to me."
Nikola Tesla, genius inventor: "The gift of mental power comes from God, Divine Being, and if we concetrate our minds on that truth, we become in tune with this great power."
Max Planck, father of Quantum Physics: "All matter originates and exists only by virtue of a force . . . . We must assume behind this force the existence of a conscious and intelligent mind. This mind is the matrix of all matter."
@onefodderunit "Nikola Tesla, genius inventor: "The gift of mental power comes from God, Divine Being,...."
While those men were intelligent, they had no special insight into matters pertaining to god/s, thus their opinions about the existence of god carry no more wight then your own. This is called the "argument from authority".
Incorrect. An anonymous youtube ID does not have the credibility of Nikola Tesla, or Max Planck who each recognized that God is the origin of intelligence, not chance.
The faith that chance created life from matter after materializing matter from whatever, is based on the authority of Atheist fantasy.
@onefodderunit The intrinsic problem begins with the concept of God. If god is taken to be a creationist theory, then for physicists to understand the functioning of nature would be the end of all considerations, for it would be to understand how God created this reality thus enabling the physicist to see the hand that created this world. If the concept of God is taken to be cyclic existence, then for the physicist, God is the beginning of all considerations and for the believers, it is the end.
Not sure how you've projected this belief onto me. Atheism speaks nothing about these matters, though I admit there are people who call themselves atheists who may believe this.
"Atheist" teaches you nothing about what a person believes and one thing about what they don't. The rest is simply your conjecture.
I make no claims about the creation of life beyond the rejection that any god currently espoused by humans, was responsible.
@onefodderunit "Atheism is faith that life is unintended. It is faith that life is byproduct of chance."
Can you provide evidence of your claim? Where in the (non-existent) doctrine of "atheism" does it say anything about the creation of life?
I have't even reached the point where I can confirm or deny anything. You're so busy attacking your perception of the "atheist" position we can't even have a discussion....
@onefodderunit how stupid and selfish can you christians be?
the largest star in our galaxy is over 200 000 times the size of earth. so if the earth is 1cm, then this star will be over 2.2km. and thats just in our galaxy that we know of. and there are hundreds of billions of galaxies. yet you selfishly believe that all of that was created just for you. we are just lifeforms existing in something that is far too massive for us.
I belong to no religion. Deductions should be made by observation and reason, not Orthodoxy. The Orthodoxy of the Atheist faith is that no intent or intelligence was involved in creation of matter, or life. Atheism is Orthodox rejection of intelligence.
Atheism is faith that we were never meant to be. It is faith that consciousness is produced by matter and is a byproduct of chance conceiving life from matter.
Love is a trick produced by chemicals, in Atheism.
There is no cohesive atheist faith of which I'm aware. I don't so much as get an annual news letter regarding what I should do or believe regarding my atheism. Atheism is simply a lack of belief in deity. It is not a dogma, it is a rejection of a proposition. And, in my case, that rejection is due to a lack of supporting evidence for said proposition.
Atheism is the rejection of the proposition that deity exist.
[Atheism is faith that we were never meant to be.]
No it isn't. Atheism is a rejection of the claims that deity are responsible for our being. Again, reagarding my rejection, see; "Complete lack of supporting evidence." The argument from the religious is; "it's very unlikely to happen without god." The unlikely happens everyday.
The number of adulterers and divorces amongst the religious tends to agree. However, all you must do to personally convince me and my individual atheism that it is anything but, is simply prove that your claims of a god are true through supporting empirical evidence and then prove that he directly controls all human reproductive urges and peer bonding.
Prove your position and I shall no longer reject it.
You want "supporting empirical evidence" for the fact that orderly, functional systems are produced by intelligence, and not byproduct of chance. What an Atheist.
There are crystals that are inorganic, unintelligent functional systems. They aquire surrounding material and integrate it into their structures. They "grow" due to a consequence of chemistry and the availiblity of resources. They are not alive and they are not constructed in any direct way by an observable intelligence.
It is not chance, it is a consequence of natural properties. You seem to confuse the two quite often.
[What function do you believe a crystal performs, Atheist?]
What function do you believe humans perform? You say function, but what you really mean is designed purpose. In case you haven't noticed, it is your position that hinges on such a concept and not my own.
Neither I nor the crystals require a predestination in order to exist, we simply do as a physical consequence of nature.
That I am possessed of free will means that I may give my existence whatever purpose I wish.
You asked what function crystals serve (aquisition and physical integration of surrounding resources), regarding their system (read; formation). Though this may be too broad an interpreation.
A functional system is a system that performs a function.
Empirical evidence that they are produced by intelligence is never ending.
Your Atheist faith is that life was created for no purpose, by chance.
You are a fanatic for your faith that life was never meant to be, and may waste hours unsuccessfully rationalizing your faith, while compounding your fanaticism.
[Your faith is life was created for no purpose, by chance.]
My belief is that life occured as a consequence of the properties of the natural, physical universe. It is a belief supported by the evidence. Faith, hope for that unseen, doesn't enter into it. You keep trying to equate chance and the consequences of chemical properties and affinity.
[life was never meant to be]
I've not heard any atheist say that, especially me.
[Now you're lying bald faced for your faith that life is unintended byproduct of chance.]
lol, that isn't my position. Never has been. It's the position you have supplied via prejudice.
If you've heard some other atheists say such a thing, so what? It's immaterial to me. Atheism, despite your claims, is not a codified, unifying dogma. I'm not linked to or responsible for other Atheists. Rejecting a proposition is no basis by which to equate individuals.
Don't mind helping you out of your delusion, Atheist. All Atheists share the faith that life is unintended. A byproduct of chance. This is not supported by science.
@onefodderunit Atheism is a position on one question: whether or not god exists. That is all. Atheism has nothing to say about how life emerged on this planet; how this planet was formed; or how the universe came into existence.
Nope, it is only your prejudice that would lead you to believe so. Why would I need a second account to tell you that which I've already made clear numerous times?
Is it so beyond your comprehension that two people would dare disagree with you and for the same reason?
There are many people that would have this disagreement with you, I am but one and only using one account.
Life is matter. There is no evidence of life that isn't. What animates matter is energy, like infrared radiation, electricity, ect ect.
Life, however, is merely that organization of matter which is capable of growth, reproduction, and adaptation. Do viruses have souls or supernatural energy? Bacteria? Are they not life?
You are an electrochemical, biomechanical structure animated by energy (heat and electricity.)
I'm not religious. Your faith that chance created matter and then animated matter with life is not science based. Your faith is based strictly on the desire to believe.
@onefodderunit what faith are you speaking of? did you get that info from my comment? stop your religious rants...your faith that something lived forever and has super powers and yet so intellectual as to hear all thoughts at the same time while seeming not to give a shit about his 'creations' isnt even a faith its a ridiculous ideology you got from your parents...
Intelligence creates. A perfect definition of Dumbness is Atheist Orthodox rejection of intelligence. Faith in self materializing, life giving powers of inanimate matter is also a good definition of Dumbness.
I have seen no evidence of intention nor of an intelligent agent capable of supplying said intention. It is not chance, it is the consequence of the properties of nature.
[life force]
Define this. Matter does not animate itself, like I said, matter is animated by energy. In the absense of energy, matter (living or not) does nothing.
Matter in the influence of energy is always animated, even if it's undetectable to your base senses.
Right now, there's some phosphorus somewhere reacting violently with oxygen and producing quite a bit of animation, all without being alive.
Even now there are photons, electrons, positrons, nuetrons, and protons all flying around, all interacting with matter, all being quite animated. Yet I don't see evidence of life.
Animation is not an identical proposition to life, it is a component of life. Being animated is not evidence of a designing, guiding intelligence.
Elements bond to form compounds every second of every day. Is your god directly guiding these infinitely numerous chemical interactions? Why would he be required for those that formed the first pre-life molecules? There is nothing found in them that wasn't there already.
No, you called it a force. I'm asking you to define this term you, yourself, have employed.
[self animated with life force one time, or more than once?]
See, there you go again. Life Force is your term, not mine. There are natural forces, gravity, weak\strong, electromagnetic but I have no need yet to call upon them. I doubt you'd take them on board if I did.
Life force is your concept, I have demanded that you define it.
It's entirely possible. Like I said, because of what we know of chemistry, physics, and biology there is no reason to believe that there isn't life (self-replicating, adapting, growing, material entities) somewhere else out in the universe.
I entertain the possiblity of other life elsewhere, but I will not believe it is true until I have evidence for it.
Go Atheist fanatic, go! You can never rationalize your faith that matter once created life. That's why you had to lie and claim it is "supported by evidence"
You can't even be honest about the fact that your faith is that life was never intended, and is pointless byproduct.
Cheapen life, Atheist. And be fanatical about it. You're perfect for the job.
Again you use this term without percision. Inorganic isn't the same as inanimate. Fire is very animate but it's just oxidizing fuel, not life. Organic molecules and inorganic molecules are both composed of animate matter (matter capable of change via energetic reaction).
It's a discipline built on many theories that are themselves composed of observed facts. I kinda thought you'd peak under the umbrella and not simply be blinded by its breadth.
[Are you a European Atheist Jew like the crude clown Bill Maher?]
Whether I am or aren't is irrelevant to your assertions. Even were I dead, you'd still have to prove your case ... and still be completely inadequate to the task.
Yes, Atheist, you're a fanatic who lies pathologically for your faith that life was never intended. You even claimed your faith is "supported by evidence"
@onefodderunit You most probably don't have a soul either. If you can provide evidence for a soul then I'll assess it and, if it's compelling, I'll change my position.
Sorry, I forgot to directly answer your question. I honestly meant to, the larger context simply took over.
[What function do you believe a crystal performs, Atheist?]
Growth. Orderly, structured growth that is not a direct cause of an intelligence specifically aligning molecules, just a consequence of natural chemical properties.
Love comes from soul and is felt through the heart. People who believe love is a chemical reaction in the head may not be feeling love at all, and may be psychopathic.
[Love comes from soul and is felt through the heart.]
So people that have inorganic, artificial hearts ... or even heart transplants, have their ability to love altered or impaired? I'd love to see your evidence for both this and the existence of souls.
You're an Atheist fanatic without the integrity to admit your faiths that chance created matter, and chance created life from matter, are not based on scientific theory, only your desire to believe.
Whatever you want it to be. You are possessed of free will. What is the intent via your theology? According to christianity, humans are to be completely removed from the universe one way or another. What kind of ultimate intent is that?
[You are of the faith that existence is unintended byproduct of chance]
No, I'm of the belief that human existence is a consequence of the natural properties of the universe. For this reason, I believe extraterrestrial life is also possible.
There is no elemental component in my body that is not acquired directly from the matter and energy that surrounds me. I can not point to a single thing about my existence and say, its impossible for natural inquiry to explain it.
[People don't like Atheists because you're soulless and inherently dishonest.]
I'll make sure to cry myself to sleep over it. However, there is no more honest pursuit in life than rejecting unsupported, unproven claims and holding only those beliefs that have met such a burden.
It would be faith based claims, not rational ones, that error far more greatly towards dishonesty by forgoing any burden of evidence but still insisting constituent truth and integrity.
@onefodderunit you obviously have no idea what atheism is, so please read at least the wikipedia article, or educate yourself in another way, before claiming to know better what atheism is, than actual atheists, that spend much time on thinking about it.
That being said, you are ignorant of scientific facts and embarassing yourself, by claiming to have more knowledge than you do.
You are missing some pretty decent stuff by being so narrow-minded.
@onefodderunit Even if some atheists say life was created by chance, it's not like they read it out of The Atheist Handbook or something. They are stating an opinion. I know you religious folks have a real problem with dissenting opinion, and you guys hate facts, but you can't prove your God exists, even if you tried. Your BS personal revelations don't mean a thing empirically, you are defending an empty, and dying argument.
@onefodderunit and atheism is not a faith. it is not a belief that there is no god. it is a disbelief there is a god because there is absolutely no evidence to suggest there is. evolution has nothing to do with atheism. there are so many things we dont know and atheists accept that. that doesnt mean we should start believing in any god though. lack of belief and belief that god doesnt exist are two totally different outlooks. it is not a faith!
There are tons of private religious schools with all sorts of prayers on the walls....why don't religious people send their kids to religous schools.....why bother public schools comfort?
why bother gays? they are comfy being gay....why bother their comfort?
@dalasoft yeah but he's written a couple of best sellers and has a PhD in neuroscience so its probably not because you think he's stupid. Stupid is believing that killing yourself and others will give you a place in the afterlife with 72 virgins. Or believing that there is a couple of supernatural beings out there, one god and one devil that supposedly hung out about 2 thousands years ago in the desert, buring bushes, 10 commandments. its so incredibly stupid.
@brucewillis2 You and Sam do not understand the concept of these suicide bombers and this makes you and him stupid. The only different between those suicide bombers and enola gay is that enola gay had a better chance of getting away, that's all. But enola gay was the worst suicide attack targeting innocent people, in the history of mankind. Enola gay set out an example for others to follow and sam blame others but not himself. What a shame.
@dalasoft you're an idiot. Why are you even talking about a plane? I was talking about believing in going a holy place with 72 virgins no matter what action you did to earn a place. People that actually believe in those types of fairytales are idiots. And that includes ALL religions. They prey on the weak and promise them a place in the heavens, its sad really.
@onefodderunit I don't think it's because it was t christian population. I think it's just that it was one of the most populated, and consequently has the largest christian population.
@dalasoft Surely, the enola gay was a calculated act to shorten the war and save many more lives on both sides, It is difficult to see how individual suicide bombers could achieve anything like that result. They seem to do it mainly for their own glory and perceived reward.
@IEndeavourAlways Those nukes could had been dropped on military installations. Instead, targeting innocent people, a desperate act that's what it is. Those who flew the plane were also brainwrashed similarly to those body bombers. If those bodies of bombs were nuke and they were able to carry it over here, it would your city. An intelligent man would know that.
As much as I respect Sam Harris, he's one of the most boring speakers ever.

Are you too soulless to admit there is no scientific theory for the faith of Atheism that chance once created life out of matter?
How about the faith of Atheism that chance materialized matter? No scientific theory for that fantasy either. Do you admit Atheism is faith in chance, and rejection of intelligence?
onefodderunit 3 days ago
@onefodderunit yes, there is no faith with regards to atheism. its saying, theres no evidence to prove god exists. "How about the faith of Atheism that chance materialized matter?"
again, thats evolution, not atheism. atheism does not have an explanation for how life originated. i suggest you read that line again. and no atheism is not the rejection of intelligence. it analyses the claims made by religion and decides based on scientific fact, not fables and myths.

You have two choices, self-denying Atheist. Intent, or Chance.
There is endless evidence that intent creates life. No evidence or scientific theory for the Atheist faith that chance created life.
Atheism is counter scientific.
Intent is part of intelligence. Atheism is rejection of intelligence.
You may lie freely, Atheist. You are without soul.

The point is that secular political systems COULD potentially be totalitarian, but theocratic political systems are totalitarian BY DEFINITION. You can't have a society based on reason and democracy when the government pushes certain religious views down peoples' throats.
The major issue here is dogmatism and irrationality, which are at the base of a lot of misery in the world.

onefodderunit 4 days ago
@onefodderunit The intrinsic problem begins with the concept of God. If god is taken to be a creationist theory, then for physicists to understand the functioning of nature would be the end of all considerations, for it would be to understand how God created this reality thus enabling the physicist to see the hand that created this world. If the concept of God is taken to be cyclic existence, then for the physicist, God is the beginning of all considerations and for the believers, it is the end.

Atheism is faith that we were never meant to be. It is faith that consciousness is produced by matter and is a byproduct of chance conceiving life from matter.

[The Orthodoxy of the Atheist faith]
There is no cohesive atheist faith of which I'm aware. I don't so much as get an annual news letter regarding what I should do or believe regarding my atheism. Atheism is simply a lack of belief in deity. It is not a dogma, it is a rejection of a proposition. And, in my case, that rejection is due to a lack of supporting evidence for said proposition.

Prove it, and I'll believe it.

Dream0Asylum 3 days ago
@Dream0Asylum
You want "supporting empirical evidence" for the fact that orderly, functional systems are produced by intelligence, and not byproduct of chance. What an Atheist.
onefodderunit 3 days ago
There are crystals that are inorganic, unintelligent functional systems. They aquire surrounding material and integrate it into their structures. They "grow" due to a consequence of chemistry and the availiblity of resources. They are not alive and they are not constructed in any direct way by an observable intelligence.
It is not chance, it is a consequence of natural properties. You seem to confuse the two quite often.
Dream0Asylum 3 days ago

[What function do you believe a crystal performs, Atheist?]
What function do you believe humans perform? You say function, but what you really mean is designed purpose. In case you haven't noticed, it is your position that hinges on such a concept and not my own.
Neither I nor the crystals require a predestination in order to exist, we simply do as a physical consequence of nature.
That I am possessed of free will means that I may give my existence whatever purpose I wish.
Dream0Asylum 3 days ago

I have seen no evidence of intention nor of an intelligent agent capable of supplying said intention. It is not chance, it is the consequence of the properties of nature.
[life force]
Define this. Matter does not animate itself, like I said, matter is animated by energy. In the absense of energy, matter (living or not) does nothing.
Dream0Asylum 3 days ago
[you believe inanimate matter animated itself ]
Matter in the influence of energy is always animated, even if it's undetectable to your base senses.
Right now, there's some phosphorus somewhere reacting violently with oxygen and producing quite a bit of animation, all without being alive.
Even now there are photons, electrons, positrons, nuetrons, and protons all flying around, all interacting with matter, all being quite animated. Yet I don't see evidence of life.
Dream0Asylum 3 days ago
Animation is not an identical proposition to life, it is a component of life. Being animated is not evidence of a designing, guiding intelligence.
Elements bond to form compounds every second of every day. Is your god directly guiding these infinitely numerous chemical interactions? Why would he be required for those that formed the first pre-life molecules? There is nothing found in them that wasn't there already.

Again you use this term without percision. Inorganic isn't the same as inanimate. Fire is very animate but it's just oxidizing fuel, not life. Organic molecules and inorganic molecules are both composed of animate matter (matter capable of change via energetic reaction).

[Abiogenesis is not a scientific theory.]

@onefodderunit
Umm... What makes you think that abiogenesis isn't a scientific theory?
Furthermore, why are you now making ad hominem attacks? You're quite undermining your point.
commodoredalton 3 days ago
@commodoredalton "Umm..."?
Are you meditating in print?
Abiogenesis is classified a 'study''. It was never a scientific theory because matter only creates life in Atheist fantasyland.

Yes, Atheist, you're a fanatic who lies pathologically for your faith that life was never intended. You even claimed your faith is "supported by evidence"
Keep going, soulless creature.

@onefodderunit You most probably don't have a soul either. If you can provide evidence for a soul then I'll assess it and, if it's compelling, I'll change my position.

[What a fanatical Atheist you are.]
My supposed fanaticism is not a point in your favor. Asserting such a thing does not prove your statements.
[You even lie stupidly for your faith.]
You have yet to actually illustrate or support this statement. Reiterating it with emphasis does not make it so.
[no evidence or scientific theory for matter ... life.]
Abiogenesis has both facets.
[matter turned itself into life]
Life is matter. Show me that life that isn't.

Dream0Asylum 3 days ago
@onefodderunit Yes, evidence would be good, not unsupported rambling assertions.

Love comes from soul and is felt through the heart. People who believe love is a chemical reaction in the head may not be feeling love at all, and may be psychopathic.
onefodderunit 3 days ago
[Love comes from soul and is felt through the heart.]
So people that have inorganic, artificial hearts ... or even heart transplants, have their ability to love altered or impaired? I'd love to see your evidence for both this and the existence of souls.
Dream0Asylum 3 days ago
@onefodderunit I almost certainly have no soul and my heart is an organ for pumping blood.

You're an Atheist fanatic without the integrity to admit your faiths that chance created matter, and chance created life from matter, are not based on scientific theory, only your desire to believe.
What is the intent of our existence, Atheist?

[You're an Atheist fanatic without the integrity to admit your faiths]
Faith, as defined in the christian bible, is the hope for things unseen.
I have beliefs that are won through the virtues of supporting evidence and rational extrapolation. My actions, and beliefs, are rational.
[chance created matter]
I have seen no element of chance mentioned in the Big Bang Theory.
Dream0Asylum 3 days ago
[the intent of our existence?]
Whatever you want it to be. You are possessed of free will. What is the intent via your theology? According to christianity, humans are to be completely removed from the universe one way or another. What kind of ultimate intent is that?
Dream0Asylum 3 days ago
@Dream0Asylum
You are of the faith that existence is unintended byproduct of chance, but you can't admit it. No soul, no integrity.
People don't like Atheists because you're soulless and inherently dishonest.

Dream0Asylum 3 days ago
[People don't like Atheists because you're soulless and inherently dishonest.]
I'll make sure to cry myself to sleep over it. However, there is no more honest pursuit in life than rejecting unsupported, unproven claims and holding only those beliefs that have met such a burden.
It would be faith based claims, not rational ones, that error far more greatly towards dishonesty by forgoing any burden of evidence but still insisting constituent truth and integrity.
Dream0Asylum 3 days ago
@Dream0Asylum
Intelligence produces orderly, functional systems and the empirical evidence is never ending.
Your Atheist faith that chance created intelligence from matter is a sign of gross gullibility, and hebetude.
You're fanatical in your faith that life is pointless byproduct of chance, soulless one.
onefodderunit 3 days ago
@onefodderunit you obviously have no idea what atheism is, so please read at least the wikipedia article, or educate yourself in another way, before claiming to know better what atheism is, than actual atheists, that spend much time on thinking about it.
That being said, you are ignorant of scientific facts and embarassing yourself, by claiming to have more knowledge than you do.
You are missing some pretty decent stuff by being so narrow-minded.
FooFanJLS 3 days ago
@onefodderunit Even if some atheists say life was created by chance, it's not like they read it out of The Atheist Handbook or something. They are stating an opinion. I know you religious folks have a real problem with dissenting opinion, and you guys hate facts, but you can't prove your God exists, even if you tried. Your BS personal revelations don't mean a thing empirically, you are defending an empty, and dying argument.
MrY0ufail 4 days ago
@onefodderunit and atheism is not a faith. it is not a belief that there is no god. it is a disbelief there is a god because there is absolutely no evidence to suggest there is. evolution has nothing to do with atheism. there are so many things we dont know and atheists accept that. that doesnt mean we should start believing in any god though. lack of belief and belief that god doesnt exist are two totally different outlooks. it is not a faith!

dalasoft 1 week ago
@dalasoft yeah but he's written a couple of best sellers and has a PhD in neuroscience so its probably not because you think he's stupid. Stupid is believing that killing yourself and others will give you a place in the afterlife with 72 virgins. Or believing that there is a couple of supernatural beings out there, one god and one devil that supposedly hung out about 2 thousands years ago in the desert, buring bushes, 10 commandments. its so incredibly stupid.
brucewillis2 1 week ago
@brucewillis2 You and Sam do not understand the concept of these suicide bombers and this makes you and him stupid. The only different between those suicide bombers and enola gay is that enola gay had a better chance of getting away, that's all. But enola gay was the worst suicide attack targeting innocent people, in the history of mankind. Enola gay set out an example for others to follow and sam blame others but not himself. What a shame.
dalasoft 1 week ago
@dalasoft you're an idiot. Why are you even talking about a plane? I was talking about believing in going a holy place with 72 virgins no matter what action you did to earn a place. People that actually believe in those types of fairytales are idiots. And that includes ALL religions. They prey on the weak and promise them a place in the heavens, its sad really.

Wonder why the civilians of the city with the largest Christian population in Japan, Nagasaki, were chosen for U'S government nuclear extermination.
onefodderunit 1 week ago
@onefodderunit I don't think it's because it was t christian population. I think it's just that it was one of the most populated, and consequently has the largest christian population.

dalasoft 1 week ago
@dalasoft Surely, the enola gay was a calculated act to shorten the war and save many more lives on both sides, It is difficult to see how individual suicide bombers could achieve anything like that result. They seem to do it mainly for their own glory and perceived reward.
IEndeavourAlways 1 week ago
@IEndeavourAlways Those nukes could had been dropped on military installations. Instead, targeting innocent people, a desperate act that's what it is. Those who flew the plane were also brainwrashed similarly to those body bombers. If those bodies of bombs were nuke and they were able to carry it over here, it would your city. An intelligent man would know that.
