  • I to agree with his last statement, I am 17 and am learning the violin. I've only only played for three days and i can play 3 of my scales, ode to joy, and also minuet in g by bach.

  • I love the story starts from 5:00

  • ivah pirrazzis?

  • i LOVE the way he plays 'somewhere in time' by rachmaninov(if i'm not wrong)at 1:27. He closes his eyes so tight many times, haha. So wonderful.

  • I love the way he enjoys the music when he plays, you can see it in his face!

What a talented yet, humble human being!

    Bravo Vengerov!!!

  • I agree with his last word that anyone can learn to play violin. I am 62 and just started learning. I am doing good according to my young teacher. and I will be better as time goes by. I hope people stop telling other Oh I think you are too old for that. one day I will post my best performance on youtube.

  • Wow I admire your bravery.

A lot of cheers for you.

  • Congratulations! I'm a young pianist and teacher and I'm always so excited when an older generation decides to finally start!

  • @hossein1326 you have said! i love that you are very positive about learning, and i cant wait for you to pose that video. God bless and take care.

  • @hossein1326 I also think that age doesn't matter when you want to learn to play the violin and I got excited to see that this comment was posted 3 years ago and that I would see the progress of an adult learner. But there's nothing on your channel :(

Have you stopped playing the violin or did you just post anything?

  • I love Maxin...

  • Incredible. I had the incredible luck to go to school with the fantastically gifted Daniel Hope who is amazing. However, Vengerov is beyond anything I've ever heard. He takes my breath away.

  • A phenomenal, intelligent, and gracious artist.

  • Another person suffering from an Evah Pirazzi disease.

  • Lol Not a fan of the Evahs huh?

  • what is so bad aBOUT evahs??

    they are wonder ful strings

well i guess it depends on ur instruement tho

  • such a bright man. "built for the instrument." First time I have heard that said by a concert violinist. Thank God someone said it! What a gift to the world of classical music.

  • What an amazing individual. Fantastic musician. His grace notes are Flawless

  • i cant beleive he practices 7 hours a day !

  • so do concert pianists

  • it's not that unbelievable. I know of people practicing 10 hours plus.

  • Great artist, very interesting interview. He is such a pleasant character, as well as one of the greatest musicians. Thanks very much for posting this.

  • Maxim Vengerov is my favourite violinist. He accomplished so much when he was young! Interesting fact (if u didn't know) He first played "The Last Rose of Summer" (Ernst) when he was only 14 years old. He recorded it onto his first album along with some other difficult pieces.

  • yea... perlman was playing Mendelssohn Violin Concerto when he was 13.

  • lol yer, I was busking with a friend, she's 16, and was playing that concerto, I think she's pretty good, but lot's of people play that concerto just to give themselves a boost. I love when Perlman plays tho! He's great! Does he have a recording of Last Rose of Summer?

  • yea i have it on cd.

  • what's your point?

  • what is about Repin?

  • ha! he's using evah pirazzi's

  • Vengerov's Evah Pirazzi strings are specially made by Pirastro to withstand brute force(techniques such as extreme left-hand pizz e.g. La Ronde des Lutins). They are [custom made] called "Bullet-proof" Evah Pirazzi's.

  • does anyone know what song maxim plays with the pianist

  • 18th variation from rhapsody on a theme of paganini by rachmaninov

    you mean this?

  • yeah. thanks

  • One problem with me is that I'm a pretty good player, but I'm not much of a showman - audiences really put me off, and I want to fix it because playing for people in various situations seems to fun! Vengerov's a very well-rounded musician in all such aspects, well done to him :)

  • what vengerov does is expressing his emotions and give all the energy he has in his hands and his fingers i can really understand him because i feel the same thing when i play and thats what making him be so perfect in his expression and his tecnique

  • Yeah, I've found it :P

It's from Rachmaninoff's Rhapsody on theme by Paganini and it should be no.18

    :D

  • does someone know the piece he plays around 1:40 ?

please tell me what it is, I absolutely love it!

  • mozarts reborn i think ?

  • Thank you!

  • Obviously he's so succesfull in the musical world because he knows how to manage his own marketing image, he's a really talented musician, but also a showman and a musician respected for his image. What about Ivry Gitlis or Gilles Apap , Kavakos or Repin ??

  • what a gem, thank-you so much for posting...what a gorgeous interview!!!

  • His story about the old lady in Auschwitz is simply fantastic!

  • he's mabe not THE best violonist player (and does it exist?) but h'es humanly great

  • He's one of the best! :)

  • Hey, he played the bach without shoulder rest!!

  • very charming!

  • Anyone who has actually heard Szeryng's recording and then listened to this would shrug their shoulders and move on to the next video.

  • I don't like the first Bach..but I love him.

  • Vengerov!!!Virtuoso awesome!

  • thank you for up load it, is amaizing hear and see him! thanks again!

  • Excellent, thanks for uploading

  • THANKSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!
