But I have to admit, I do like the look of macs.

That is VERY untrue. Why do 95% of Windows users say that Macs suck? Most of the people who have a Mac and criticize a PC actually owned a PC. People who criticize Macs have never owned or even used one. As for your room mate, it could be his computer itself, not the operating system. My MacBook Pro works perfectly fine and silent. The only time my MacBook actually crashed was when it was running on Vista 32-bit through Boot Camp. Of course that could be compatibility issues, but who knows?

Personally, I'm looking into getting a mac just for working on stuff. E.G. Movies\ Music production. The only downside is the fact that I can't have uTorrent, use a bunch of my apps (which are designed only for PC), or play games. I know that you can use 'BootCamp' or 'CrossOver' but I'm concerned that most apps on utorrent are for the PC. Sure, you can BUY the programs, but I'm not that rich at 15 yrs old (hence the PC :P ). When the day comes, I'll switch, but as of now, it's too expensive...
