You have assumed what Jesus told the church to do - he meant for the government to do. If Jesus had been telling the government to take from the wealthy and give to the poor - He would have been a liberal and socialist. However, He never said that. He told Christians to give to the poor directly through the church out of their own wealth. It had nothing to do with liberalism or socialism.

why should we give to the church? they do nothing but run up huge electric bills and are always needing more money. Back in the jesus days believers would just met at each others homes. That would save millions of dollars that could be used to help the poor and needy.

Some churches do meet in homes. But others meet in bigger buildings, because the church is too big for homes. Before churches - God had his people build temples for meeting. The OT temple costs people all their gold and silver to build. So God is okay with such buildings. Give to the church, because the church is the body of Christ and His plan for making Himself known to the nations.

My response is correct. Huckabee leans left. Check his record in Ark. If Time magazine honors him as "number 5", that tells you something. Huckabee is much like Martin Luther King. He doesn't take his Christianity seriously. Watch that clip where he pretends to be talking to god on the phone. I don't think Billy Graham would be so irreverent.
