Great video.

I play very much like this and unfortunately it often goes unappreciated by the forwards. Not only do some of them blame you for the rare mistakes you'll make (and it's going to happen, it's hard to go an entire game without at least ONE mistake), but they also neglect you as a passing option much of the time.

It's nice on occasion when you get the forwards who know you're there. Passing to your defensemen is a great way to move the puck around and create chances.

@ExJacob It makes your player aware of where the puck is, so you can easily break passes. It's hard to break passingways with your back to the puck.

Defence is a simple position and is taken for granted by most. Although it is good for a defenceman to be the last man in the offensive zone you seem to emphasize it a lot. How about instructing the kids on defensive zone play? That's where most people seem to have trouble. Keep it simple, block shots (only when confident, like hitting) and box out the opposition. Do NOT chase, and do NOT leave a man open in front of the net.

hey superbman excellent videos but i have a question about attributes, right now im vet 3 and cant get my superstar 1 cuz of something i learned in your video but i was wondering if there is a type of defenceman that is best suited to use until you get to superstar/legend and how would i go about using the attributes

@namosman I would use a Defensive Defenceman until you get your superstar 3 or so. Then switch to a 2 Way Defenceman until you get your legend 3. Once you get your legend 3, I would switch to Offensive Defenceman, or stay with 2 Way Defenceman if you like it.

Most of the time the attackers get all the credit but why did they score that amazing goal? because of a good pass of the defence.

@wwemetalking Don't use Defensive Defenceman if you have your legend 3 dude, it's such a waste. And who cares about overall, that's not what makes the player.

I have a hard time stealing/getting the puck from an opponent's pass.

Even my stick is just one inch from the puck, my player just stands there. I notice how your games, people turn the puck over easy.

quick tip to start out with great ovr: if your a defensive D to get a high ovr up the stats that matter for eg. defensive awareness, body checking, stick checking, strength exetera

I'm a pretty versatile guy as I play all three forward positions and defence, but playing defence has to be my favourite. The responsibility that's given to you makes it all the more fun. Big hits, solid up ice passes, I think it's just great, the perspective of being a defenceman is second to none. I love it, and anyone who plays defence will be able to relate.
