Ah - the 'Orange' is red oxide primer (otherwise the plastic would react badly with the paint if it were applied directly). Yep, in spite of the modern box-art, this one's a reissue, actually being only a 'Easy skill level 1 kit' - I was pleased though to see that the transfers were decals, not stickers.
Thanks.. I've done a few.. but as my 'name' suggests I'm VERY basic.. My next 'carlike' model will either be the Russian GAZ Jeep, or an Italian Sahariana, in 1/72 scale.. Saying that, I'm actually building a Ford Tractor now!! (Scale unknown) Looking forward to see whatever else you come up with, modelwise.. :) Happy modelling.. :)
Cool. You're pretty good at that. I've never seen one of them around, only the Ford Bronco, that'd be a beaut beast to have. Sure is a lot of good detail in the model. Well done!
Hey thankyou - its all practice! It was a good model to build (its actually meant to be a basic level 1 snap-tite model! - non-opening hood, underbody engine detail only). I was pleased though that it had an unpainted bodyshell, waterslide decals rather than stickers, and much scope within (recessed body details) for extra detailing...
thankyou! ah, not a radio control (the wheels turn nicely though!) - however the bodyshell is strong (for a plastic kit that is) and I have seen vids on YT showing this bodyshell mounted on a RC off-roader...
I have like literally a TON of unopened model kits- id usually buy two of each i liked- one to build, one to just keep- most are down here, but still have a few boxes worth back at my folks.
nice job! I like getting snap tite kits and modding them out with opening doors/hoods to detail them totally.
The bad thing is the availability and cost of todays new kits- its hard to find them and i saw $17 on the ones i did find- heck i remember when they were $5 - plus sometimes when one was opened or on clearance they were marked way down.
Making the doors openable would be an interesting process!
I always enjoy detailing models - to the point where I am either pulling older models apart to add further detail, then put back together, or even putting more intracate detail (the open and shut doorlines are good) into the smaller diecast "toy" 1/64 scale models that I had when I was younger!
Sometimes ill 'redo' older models- one i have that ive redone like 10 times is a 90's Dodge snaptite kit- i threw out the original frame, cut the hood open, put a motor in, made the entire suspension adjustable.
The first incarnation i soldered 12 headphone speakers together and mounted em to it- two went in the cab- the rest in the bed- thing was LOUD- till i blew out the speakers. Right now it doesnt have any speakers- havent messed with it inna while. I also have an 'original' version as well
Thankyou! - it was a nice surprise when opening the box to see the ambulance parts, as nothing on the box advertised that fact, and as I did not have a 'rescue' themed model in the collection previous to this one...
are there any options in building this kit ?

RCtraxxassummit 1 year ago
@RCtraxxassummit - Actually 1:25 but the two scales are just about the same!
joh2 1 year ago
@RCtraxxassummit i belive that cars are normaly 1:24 and trucks, suvs, vans are 1:25, but they are pretty much the same size,

Hello, I have a few q's for you about that model.
Why do you paint it orange inside prior to paint it black?
Is this a reissue model? I read it is a 2006 reissue, but I cant see it in online shops that easy. I need one of this for kitbashing.

mmm...are you using automotive paint for the body color :)
Stickers for that level, is a good news...I want one model like that for kitbashing a longer gmc pick- up bed.

One to keep? Ah yes, interestingly there is a market out there for unopened kits of yesteryear...
joh2 3 years ago
The keeper kit is part of my 'collecting' habit- maybe someday id think of selling them- a few i have wont tho- those are always keepers.
