Screen Shot? Cracked Screen Prank - GIMP tutorial

It does not look realistic enough in my perspective... I would like it more if it was more realistic

I just made the crack part so i can use any of the backgrounds my co-workers use

I didn't take a screen shot. I left the whole image transparent except the crack. I set it as my screen saver. I added a cracking noise as the the transition noise for the screen saver. Now when I leave the room I take out my head phones, turn up the volume, and let it do its thing. Scared my mom twice.

@619kelli Are you sure it wasn't just zoomed out in GIMP so it looks small?

You can also press the printscreen button on your keyboard and then paste into GIMP.

Nice tut, nice prank. I used to screengrab the background with all the icons on someones computer, get rid of the icons and save the image as a background. Funny to watch them click and click again on the image with nothing happening, lol.

@webkinzworld08 well, it's entirely configurable. If I want only a minimal set-up that boots in 20secs I can do that.. If I want a good looking system with intergalactic features i can do that. there are no viruses. it's completely free. every program you had has an alternative and although they aren't always as good, they are getting there. 1 app at the time... Apart from that I love the filosofy & idealism of the open-source community. It's hard at first, but after that it's just so rewarding.
