@muipo0 Not exactly, and for the most part not at all. What he is using is most likely a combination of Capoeira, a bit of Karate, Korean martial art(s) and or Wushu. Shotokan is mostly straight moves although it has a chambered roundhouse, knife hand, ridge hand, though it lacks effective training for head and leg defense. If your looking for an effective style of combat and are only interested Japanese martial arts, I'd suggest Kudo, otherwise I'd also say Muay thai and Sanda.
