this guy has some of the best phrasing I've seen. love his choice of notes. amazing. you can tell by his right hand he's a hardcore jazz player, just by the fact that he always keeps his middle and third finger together, which is a standard for most jazz players.

Best I can tell, he is only playin' 12 notes & their octaves.

Yeah, alright, occasionally there is a string of 1/32nd notes or 1/64th notes ...and sometimes I get blisters on my retina trying to watch his fingers, but the same thing happens when I look at the sun.

All Alex Hutchings downloadable packages include TAB in BOTH tunings. EADGBE (standard tuning) and EADGCF (Alex's tuning). We are pretty thorough at Jamtrackcentral and understand that most people would want to play in standard tuning.

@godblessolbas a lot of it is just pentatonic with "passing notes" to spice it up, then there's the way he phrases (which is nothing short of unbelieveable) and lastly, but not least at all, he plays alot of "outside" licks, which is basically just playing notes that does not belong to the particular key or tonality you are in. there are some vids on the subject on the 'tube ;)

@godblessolbas He's probably just feeling it out most of the time, but if you want to be able to solo in this style check out the dorian, melodic minor and bebop scales, also chromatic passing notes are often added in jazzy styles

@godblessolbas lmao i garuntee he's not thinking in scales. he's going off the chord progression. goes with learning theory and studying the fretboard the extensively. alot of it also just chromatic runs and lots of passing and color tones.

But I bet it's a mix of 2 maybe 3 modes and arpeggios, but mainly modes.

There's a lot of good video lessons on how to learn modes and use then in fusion playing.
