You're missing it entirely. We are all so different and thats what makes it work. People like you are girls who are so consumed by being "different" and not conforming. Girls like you don't get bids. Period. You have to be willing to step outside your comfort zone and let others in.
you claim to understand that there is more to greek life than drinking and partying. yet you talk about it throughout this whole video. how dare you allow such generalities and stereotypes to cloud your view about something you have no idea about. besides, i'm sure you could have found a bottom-tier sorority to stand in a corner with.
I'm an AXO sister and honestly it just sounds like you were unwilling to get out of your own comfort zone and were just too scared of not being accepted by girls. So you make a video on how most sorority girls are brainless and talk about nothing else except shoes and The Hills and how you're glad you didn't bother because you're better than those girls anyways. But the funny thing is, you accuse all us sorority girls of being as shallow as a kiddie pool, when you're the one who lacks depth.
@heyitsdasha Hey there sister! I'm an AXO sister too, and I couldn't agree more :) I love my sisters because we ARE real, strong women who just love being in a big family on campus, and truly do share a sisterhood where there is no hurtfulness and judging.
I'm a sorority girl, a Dean's List student, and a total Whedonite. I joined a sorority for the philanthropy and leadership opportunities that it offered, and I couldn't be happier with my decision. I wish that you had at least attempted to go through recruitment before lumping all sororities into one negatively stereotyped category. Although honestly, if you had displayed this judgmental attitude during recruitment, you wouldn't have gotten a bid anyway.
I thought this video was funny. I understand it was a joke and it's sad it seems most of the ppl commenting don't. Maybe if i was in a sorority i would also get offended and take it personally. You are pretty btw.
It's sad, because my school's sororities ARE stereotypical. My room mates were party people, druggies, and typical bleach blond bimbos and so were most, if not all, the sorority girls they associated with (which was a lot). The Fraternities, however, are very nice guys and half my guy friends are from them. So it depends on what school you go to. Do research before judging.
It's not really like that. Or at least at my school girls are smart. One of my really good friends is a biology major and she just decided to be on the PA board. I don't really like partying and my sorority still likes me. lol.
I never thought greek life was for me. I listen to metal, love horror movies, and am completely addicted to Tumblr. But I found a home in my sorority... because they're not all made equal. I expected to find nothing but drunk bimbos. Instead I found diversity, character, and best of all, sisters. Sororities should be about ritual, scholarship, and philanthropy, its to see so many fellow greeks forget this. Also sad to see? The comments on this video.
I'm sorry you didn't give Greek life a chance. There was probably a place for you, it's all about finding the right group of girls for your personality! You sound a lot like me - I don't really party, I've never had girl friends, and I'm pretty serious about my grades and athletics... so I was skeptical about the rush process. I found a group of girls who were so down to earth and sweet that I decided to accept their bid, and it was the best decision I've made this semester. :)
I'm part of a sorority and so many of my sisters loveee sci-fi and watch shows like Lost, Buffy, Firefly...the list goes on. It seems like a lot of your assumptions about sororities are based on stereotypes, which is unfortunate. I wish you were in my area and could meet my chapter so we could prove you wrong!
Also, to everyone saying she's ugly...no. She's not. Even if she was, joining a sorority should be about sisterhood--the bond you share with your sisters.
...good thing you didn't rush...as a Membership Director and Recruitment Chair of my chapter of the nation's second oldest secret society for women (a certain NPC women's sorority known for being the best!), I can tell you you aren't what Sororities look for during rush...The fact that you don't have the Greek look (meaning, you're plain and dowdy and just radiate "weird independent"), mixed with your awkward persona do you in... Also, you don't know anything about greek life...No bid for you!
@VarsityCheerStarLDS So you're saying that because she didn't have a fake personality, fry her skin, spoke inteliigently, and didn't cake on makeup, she's not material for your special club? That's ignorant; you judged her and spoke harshly of her. Why would anyone want to hang out with people like you? You sound like a bitch. This girl (and many others) are better off being themselves and having real friends. She doesn't have to pay for hers!
@elmozakuro I love my sorority, and I was accepted based off of my personality. You are letting one person shape your opinion of thousands of girls (and guys). What she said was wrong, but you are wrong also. Being in a sorority does not mean that we are paying for friends. We are paying dues to be a part of an amazing organization that allows us to meet other girls that are interested in similar things, including philanthropy and education.
@VarsityCheerStarLDS by the way, I looked at your profile and you are quite fat and unattractive. OH I SO WANT TO BE IN A SORORITY LIKE YOU SO I CAN BE FAT AND UGLY
@elmozakuro Wow, harsh don't you think? I'm not in a sorority (obviously), but, I respect these girls just as much as I respect any other people who choose to be/to become independents. No need to be ignorant. And anyway, Elmo, or whatever your name is, you don't even have a face to be compared to. So, your opinion is irrelevant, eh? And you, Ms. @VarsityCheerStarLDS Just stfu. What's a Greek look? You're not even Greek. Pointless. Peace out doe! :)
@MsDeyn I commented on this video several months ago. Why are you looking at comments from that long ago. I don't give a fuck anymore. I have my opinion, and it was based on several months of experience. Suck it
@VarsityCheerStarLDS Well... being a member of the nation's oldest women's faternity, I want to inform you that you are giving sorority girls across the nation a horrible image. Girls are not given a bid based on their image. Bids are determined on whether a girl will fit into a house/sorority and the girls there. It is all about 'the perfect fit'. Obviously your chapter made the wrong decision when giving you that office.
I am a sorority girl, I LOVE Joss Whedon and sci fi. You obviously didn't find the right fit and I'm sorry you found the wrong impression. My sisterhood is truly nice to everyone they meet and you shouldn't let the stereotype guide your views. Just because there is a few bad seeds in the bunch doesn't mean the whole batch is bad.
You wouldn't have been able to get a bid from a sorority looking like that anyway so it's probably a good thing you didn't rush. save yourself some tears. Unless you already rushed and got rejected from every sorority and that's why you posted this video.
You are ridiculous, greek life is not all about partying. Its about giving back to the community, making life time friendships and self discovery. My sisters are very intelligent girls. Your assumptions of sororties is based on stereo types. I am proud to be a GREEK.
@Celiabeth23 if you're in a white sorority, that only works if you're white. i should know. i'm hispanic & i'm kinda considered that "wierd, creepy, loner girl who really shouldn't be a part of the sisterhood" and trust me, it's not because of my personality. i'm usually loved by most people; no, in this case, it's really just because i am different and serve as the token spanish girl. unfortunately.
okay, so i totally understand that everyone has the right to their own opinion, and maybe the chapters at your school are not as desirable as they are at other universities, but i just want to let you know.. i am certainly not one who would be expected to be in a sorority. i always found that girls were more trouble than anything else, many of my friends had caused tons of problems for me and i never thought i'd see the day that i voluntarily spent tons of time with tons of girls, BUT i am in
@misstricianicole a sorority now and i can honestly say that it has been one of the best decisions that i have ever made.. in my entire 20 years of existence. i won't get annoyed and drop. i absolutely love my sisters, and i have grown so much as an individual. it's not all about parties or drama. it's so much more than that.
Being in a sorority doesn’t mean I go out every night and get wasted.
Being in a sorority doesn’t mean I don’t care about school.
Being in a sorority doesn’t mean I am stick thin, have eating disorders, or judge other people on their weight.
My sorority is filled with a variety of different girls. We are proud of ourselves for who we are.
Being a member of my sorority is the best thing I have ever done. And, if you ever, EVER judge me about it, it will be the last time I will talk to you.”
If you had an open mind you would have found that sororities are so much more than superficial discussions and partying but If you're going to have an attitude like that, greek life doesn't want you anyway.
If you had an open mind you would have found that sororities are so much more than superficial discussions and partying but If you're going to have an attitude like that, greek life doesn't want you anyway.
You are thinking in a very close minded way. Every greek system is different, so you shouldn't stereotype them. In my sorority, we do have those girls that talk about shoes, The Hills, and parties, but those same girls could turn around and have a full conversation on Bush's term. Yes, we do have some Elementary Ed majors, but we also have Political Science, English, and Biochemistry majors. Not all of us go out and party. Some of us enjoy a night in to watch Dr. Who.
You are very pretty and seem to be smart so I don't understand why you believe the stereotypes. I was in a sorority and there were plenty of girls with a variety of different interests, with a variety of different skill sets and many didn't party. And each sorority at each school is different, so it's not really that wise to be saying what you are. I got kicked out of my sorority and I despise the concept and the structure and the way things went, but you are wrong about everything here.
i'm in a sorority and i understand that greek life isn't for everyone but may i point out a few things,
1. On my campus (which is a smaller campus in Indiana) the priority of greek life is not to party. Yes we socialize and yes we go out, but so does everyone else on campus, we're not doing it any more than anyone else. We actually pay a lot of attention to our academics and philanthropies, which takes up most of my time.
2. You tend to generalize the type of girls in sororities. All chapters have different girls in them, and some girls would rather stay in on a week night, or get homework done then go out. And in my chapter, my sisters would never reconsider my membership over a choice not to party.
3. When girls decide to resign their membership I usually don't have a problem with them. In fact I'm still really good friends who were once my sister but have since dropped. The problem is when the girl resigning makes a big deal or causes a lot of drama before/during/ or after her resignation. My chapter does not get mad when I girl leaves but when a girl says nasty things about us or does mean things to us, then we get upset.
4. And finally, I'm a lot like you. I'm a nerdy girl who would rather watch Doctor Who on a Saturday night than go to a Frat Party. And I'm not always the best a being social with strangers. Being a member of my sorority helped me grow those skills to approach people I don't know very well and be comfortable in those situations. It has also helped me a lot with skills I will use in my future career.
Again, these are based on my personal experiences in my own chapter.
@cheerleader132 Don't get how it's something I "hate". I posted videos about random snippets of my life, and this is just one where I talk about almost joining a sorority. But your snarky comment speaks volumes about your personality than my video ever did about sorority life.
the 1/3 you fit in, is the kind that takes shots to the face by man cock.. too bad you fail at life, because you are anti-social as fuck. It is cool cause you blew a guy and failed at it and moved on. there is more to a greek life than partying. but you are so closed minded from getting double teamed by frat boys that your misconception of them has clouded your mind. its cool they cared about you because you are easy.. It is cool most frat guys to you are assholes, only because you suck dick.
its interesting hearing it from another perspective.....however, i think many people have preconceived notions about greek life...being greek isn't like the movies and t.v. shows....just because your in a sorority doesnt mean your a party girl....maybe i have a biast opinion because many of the women in my family were or are in sororities, including myself. Of course there are sororities that party but i dont think its right to put the whole greek life into one category
I love how people are so desperate for attention and acceptance that they feel they need to join a fraternity/ sorority. I got to enjoy a shit load of frat partys and mixers and didnt have to join. The secret; befreind the top dogs of the frat and youll fit right in without paying dues, getting hazed, etc. The greek community is for those whose personality is so weak that they cannot stand out without those letters on their shirt. Sad really!!
@anomaly48 Actually, I am certainly a part of a real frat. It is called Kappa Alpha Theta. Also known as the first letter fraternity for women. Look it up.
@nancyweeks11 who cares? and isnt it a "sorority" if its for girls? Shows how much you know. I bet youre some child in your parents basement pretending to be something you are not. Its ok join the millions that do the same on youtube.
@anomaly48 No. It is technically a women's fraternity. Kappa Alpha Theta was founded before the phrase "sorority". So yes, I know what I am talking about.
Your vids are great, i really enjoying watching them, you are defintly the type of person I hang out with. I'm not sure if thats a good thing or not lol
@islandstyle09 Because that's how it works... If you compare the number of rapes that are Greek related to the number that aren't you might be surprised. If you didn't already know, Fraternity gentlemen or "frat guys" as you call them, are actually held accountable for their actions unlike most of the non Greek individuals at a house party. How about next time you take some time to investigate your earlier statement instead of just using the information that you learned for pop culture.
thnx! .. i didnt know its coming round for another season .. great!
have you seen "dr.horrible's sing along blog"? ... I didnt expect that one to be good, but I think the characters and story were a brilliant look into some truths about people and society :)
Is it bad that I understood everything you said during the scene with the sorority chick? No.
Is it bad that I agreed with most of it (except the comment about Dushku...blehck). No.
Is it bad that throughout the video I mentally turned you into an object and couldn't help but wonder if the camera would magically slip into your lap, and I would be carried into an alternate universe with smellivision and get a giant whiff of your vaj? Yeah, that's a little creepy.
We don't have sororities/fraternities in the UK. In a way, I'm a little disappointed - sounds like an easy way of making a lot of friends very quickly.
Dollhouse is good then? I hear it got slightly mixed reviews...
Can't really comment too much on sororeties or frats on account of me being too Norwegian to know anything about them outside of annoying movies and porn, but I CAN comment on Firefly, which is awesome, and I can say that if you want something that deals with the subject of memories, etc, check out Dark City. It's beautiful and really crazy.
Hey I'm the same way. Coming from a party school my entire dorm was basically a frat party, seen some crazy shit and wanted me to do all kind of shit, that went beyond the pail really, but I never went for that goofy stuff. They were like looking at me strange too and they gave me a nickname because I was so quite they called me Chief. I have no idea why but that's what they came up with. But I just never rode that boat.
Excellent insight as usual, and really funny to boot. I never joined a frat for the exact same reasons. Sorry to hear about your meth lab. Any jail time? And I liked the bloopers at the end. 5 stars.
So you're a fan of TV series! So am I...Concerning Doll House, I don't think the acting is that great, especially that f Elisha Duszku r whatever is her nam (always get it wrong...) but verall that's the best show of 2008 with Fringe and Friday Night Lights... btw did youe see the unaired pilot and the episode 13 of Doll House? They add a depth to the show and makes me want to see the next season so bad!
You're missing it entirely. We are all so different and thats what makes it work. People like you are girls who are so consumed by being "different" and not conforming. Girls like you don't get bids. Period. You have to be willing to step outside your comfort zone and let others in.

2. You tend to generalize the type of girls in sororities. All chapters have different girls in them, and some girls would rather stay in on a week night, or get homework done then go out. And in my chapter, my sisters would never reconsider my membership over a choice not to party.
cheeruppirate 1 year ago 4
@cheeruppirate

@cheeruppirate
Again, these are based on my personal experiences in my own chapter.

wow you put a lot of thought and time into something you hate so much.... you must feel so accomplished : )
cheerleader132 1 year ago 31

It is cool most frat guys to you are assholes, only because you suck dick.

sooo basically u were his booty call. its cool you became a slut on your own terms

its interesting hearing it from another perspective.....however, i think many people have preconceived notions about greek life...being greek isn't like the movies and t.v. shows....just because your in a sorority doesnt mean your a party girl....maybe i have a biast opinion because many of the women in my family were or are in sororities, including myself.

Sad really!!
anomaly48 2 years ago
@anomaly48 agree.
applesauceking25 2 years ago
@anomaly48 1. I have never experienced being hazed. Most schools have banned this.
2. I have one of the strongest personalities around. I did not need a sorority to stand out.
3. Why the harsh feelings towards sororities? Bad experience with a girl? Denied a bid? There must be a motive.
nancyweeks11 1 month ago
@nancyweeks11 youre not in a real frat. Stop pretending youre in one.
anomaly48 1 month ago
@anomaly48 Actually, I am certainly a part of a real frat. It is called Kappa Alpha Theta. Also known as the first letter fraternity for women. Look it up.
nancyweeks11 1 month ago
@nancyweeks11 who cares? and isnt it a "sorority" if its for girls? Shows how much you know. I bet youre some child in your parents basement pretending to be something you are not. Its ok join the millions that do the same on youtube.
anomaly48 1 month ago
@anomaly48 No. It is technically a women's fraternity. Kappa Alpha Theta was founded before the phrase "sorority". So yes, I know what I am talking about.

Hey ur smart for not going greek! why would u wana pay for friends and get date raped by frat guys?
islandstyle09 2 years ago
@islandstyle09 Because that's how it works... If you compare the number of rapes that are Greek related to the number that aren't you might be surprised. If you didn't already know, Fraternity gentlemen or "frat guys" as you call them, are actually held accountable for their actions unlike most of the non Greek individuals at a house party. How about next time you take some time to investigate your earlier statement instead of just using the information that you learned for pop culture.

I hope your "ala garden state comment" was not an indication that you liked the film.
newleezerbrand 2 years ago
Is it bad that I understood everything you said during the scene with the sorority chick? No.
Is it bad that I agreed with most of it (except the comment about Dushku...blehck). No.
Is it bad that throughout the video I mentally turned you into an object and couldn't help but wonder if the camera would magically slip into your lap, and I would be carried into an alternate universe with smellivision and get a giant whiff of your vaj? Yeah, that's a little creepy.
p.s. Go Brown Coats!

We don't have sororities/fraternities in the UK. In a way, I'm a little disappointed - sounds like an easy way of making a lot of friends very quickly.
Dollhouse is good then? I hear it got slightly mixed reviews...

GASP, omg! let me borrow that top!

I'm quite certain the main topic of conversation at a sorority would be Twilight and whatever is going on with these vampire people.
pongman 2 years ago
Can't really comment too much on sororeties or frats on account of me being too Norwegian to know anything about them outside of annoying movies and porn, but I CAN comment on Firefly, which is awesome, and I can say that if you want something that deals with the subject of memories, etc, check out Dark City. It's beautiful and really crazy.

I'm surprised u knew about Forority's. We tend to keep to ourselves.
Justinmazing 2 years ago
Hey I'm the same way. Coming from a party school my entire dorm was basically a frat party, seen some crazy shit and wanted me to do all kind of shit, that went beyond the pail really, but I never went for that goofy stuff. They were like looking at me strange too and they gave me a nickname because I was so quite they called me Chief. I have no idea why but that's what they came up with. But I just never rode that boat.
jay733 2 years ago
