  • I like this. :)

  • "turn around yes, and there you are" I love that part.

  • I always thought the final lyrics went "Focus through your sniper's eye" but i guess it works both ways...

  • Man this must be one of the most beautiful, meaningful song i have ever hear its right next to the epicness of inner universe imo

  • Dad im a ..- Not a crazed guman dad! im an Assassin, what the difference be, the ones a job and the other's mental sicness!

  • To Skip drums 1:54

  • Always reminds me of those I knew who were lost before their time. The tune does it more than the lyrics, although some of the lyrics fit that perception well. "Someone once laid flowers for the past." Listening to this is one of my ways of doing that. "Thought I saw your face there but then you just disappear"

  • @WinS392 If your refering to lost soldiers.

In my country & In many of our former colonies we constantly remember our lost aswel as on special days In November.

    Lest we forget.

  • man, I thought this was going to be that like funk-disco song from when seito and batou are tracking the sniper from the solid state movie. Anybody no where that song is?

  • 8 people cant hear the sniper

  • Episode 14!!!!!!!

  • I have heard the tune from way out west.....ripoff is an overstatement....Kanno Yoko went a notch up with the autotune.

  • @seikouchan

If you look at it from a different perspective, you could say she got inspiration from Stealth and interpreted it into her own style. This doesn't really sound like Stealth besides the background ambiance which was probably used because it works so well with communicating calm. Styles of sounds aren't owned by anyone, imagine if they were, the world would run out of music because every melody would have been created and owned by someone and we'd have nothing to work with.

  • @JuliuStorm oh =/ thx for replying tho

  • @JuliuStorm do they have it here on youtube?

  • Love that guitar!!!

  • check out stealth from "way out west". you will be in for a nice surprise if you like this tune ;)

  • Epic nickaname.

  • @ViolentAlcoholic no its not bad just too long feel me ?

  • @ 1:54 damn song starts lol

  • I love the U2-ish guitar chords during "Somewhere in the Silence". Awesome song.

  • I can't decide between this, Inner Universe or Cyberbird...maybe all three!

  • @AngelicHalfBreed You forgot Velveteen ^_^

  • @midnightsun5857 Actually as good as that one is too I prefer the others.

  • this is just what I needed to hear, soo good !

  • Incredible, contender for one of the best songs ever

  • i wish i could play this on my keyboard..

  • it reminds me scene major vs saito :D

  • I freaking vibe out to this song.

From the Jazzy beginning, to the Eclectic Finish.

    Take 'em to school, Yoko.

  • iv been looking for this song foever thax for the post

  • I may be an atheist, but anyone who doubts the incredible genius of Yoko Kanno and her collaborators is an unwashed heretic =P

  • Someone should make a slideshow using this song along to pictures of real life snipers. I would do that but I"m too lazy.

  • It's just the perfect theme for Saito, isn't it? Love this song.

  • This show is the peak of cool.

  • sure makes me feel calm

  • YAHOO

  • i love to hear this song when i'm sniping in call of duty mw2. or just walking around in everyday life. it makes me happy. ^_^

  • All hale major and her purple hair! WOOOO!

  • Her voice is so soft and pretty. =)

  • soothing (~_~)

  • djconker did. Take a look at the video responses.

  • ..no?

That has a completely different meaning to what is in the song, so again, no.

  • @gasdorf I guess that's what a sniper does, lures you into a false sense of security/ everything's boring and normal, then suddenly, bam!

  • but overall this is a great song.... Even though it does not suit the character.

  • Didn't expect music like this for a sniper...

  • Why not? This music is very tranquil/calm...it suits the theme of a sniper fine. Don't you have to be cool and calm as a sniper?

  • Well if you put it that way you are right... You do need to be calm and cool as a sniper. Well put

  • @Skip2MyShu Exactly! They practically recieve the training of an assassin since those are the skills honed to be a quiet, accurate and lethal sniper.

  • sure thing... ill put both on my youtube account later today

  • is the first bit a separate song? and in the ep 14 Poker Face, does anyone know the name of the other version of this song that plays when Saito is telling the story outside of the flashback? it's what one could call an accoustic version i guess...like a prelude or something

  • Its the second part of this song... and when Saito is telling the story... its slightly edited and played over and over to make it fit in the time needed...

  • yea yea, i get that, i was just wondering if that part is available somewhere...like as a remix or different version or something, it's a sick edit and i want it

  • I've already cut it, and even made an electro house mashup of this song... If you want it just holla.

  • If you wouldn't mind, could I take a listen to your remix? It sounds like it'd be killer.

  • Done and Done... I added them as Video Responses

  • then it would be "from the rooftop somewere in silence" instrumental

  • oh great, thanks for that incredibly intelligent, helpful advice. now, why dont you try searching that and seeing what comes up?

  • i fell in love with her voice

  • 1:56 and so on is amazing.

  • I absolutely love this one - the jazz part is fast but light, and the lyrical part has this weird...clarity, I think is what I would call it. Like, most of Kanno's pieces are really dense, and you can always hear something new in them, but this one is completely transparent without sacrificing any of that depth. You can hear right through it, if that makes any sense.

  • I hear ya on that one

  • Such a lovely post. I completely agree with you.

  • Euphony.

  • Yeah, it's euphonic, but so is pretty much all good music, and this one just has something else.

  • This is a pretty badass song. I've always had a spot in my heart for Saito :D

  • I was looking for this theme - I fell in love with it from the first hearing in ep 14 of 2nd GIG!

    Saito FTW ForEver! :D

  • This is some really good background music for the best scene in Solid State Society, the scene where Saito takes out the other sniper while Batou sends Saito's hawkeye data to the other sniper

  • This piece wasn't in SSS I think, it is the background piece to the best sniper duel in the series(Motoko vs Saito) during the ep Poker Face

  • The first segment makes it way in at least two episodes of GitS: SAC.

    "Escape" and "Angels' Share."

I think this was initially supposed to be in SSS, but they opted for something more upbeat.

The structure of that song is similar to this one if you go back and scope it out.

  • Like the jazzy intro. Reminds me of Cowboy Bebop, a.k.a my favorite anime ever created.

  • wow just wow...

  • Can you hear it, sniper?

  • motion without sound

    silence hides the sniper

  • I just recently realized they used this intro in "Angel's Share."

    I nerd-gasm'd a bit.

  • This one gets my vote as the best song on the album :D

  • Love this song, but check out Stealth by Way Out West.

  • This has gotta be Saito's official theme.

  • Thought so too :)

I adore Saitos's character, and since I've heard this song I thought it would do nicely as his personal theme!

  • Definitely.

  • dude that's an animation too

  • does ilaria graziano have other works/albums outside of anime? she's wonderful!

  • i like this song and really want it on my mp3 can someone send this to me in a link please?

  • Yoko Kanno is good with finding the right person to sing to music she composes so it only makes sense that the lyrics are good

  • I agree with you on Yoko finding good singers. I loved her work with Scott Matthew, but I don't like any of his other songs.

  • Yoko Kanno is the composer of this song and it's lyricist is Iiaria Graziano

  • Can someone send me this song? Please? Cause i would totally love this song on my ipod man.

  • 1:55 on pure gold

  • I can't get over how awesome these lyrics are, the subject is so unfitting the cute blues like music it becomes brilliant. Gotta go play some BF2 and stare down a scope for a couple of hours to this song. long live GitS!

  • Saito forever!

    astounding themes!! gr8t upload,500/5 =)

  • The lyrics are so amazing.

  • That's why it's called "From the Roof top (hyphen) Somewhere in the Silence." It's two songs put into one theme. I don't know why they did that, but it was probably necessary.

And please don't use the word "gay." There's many other words that you can use to mean the same thing.

  • yea i dont like the intro either.

  • @Togusa It's called an intro, dummy. Many songs have this.

  • For some reason I feel like this would fit with Metal Gear too

  • if you like this song you might also like this one Way Out West-Stealth because well.... it's pretty much the exact same track with just different vocals & lyrics and some minor sample-differences.

would love to know who stole from whom on this track ^^

  • I actually think its two completely different tracks with some minor similarities. Thought I see it is yet another track that Yoko Kanno samples music from. I heard some bit of replica in that song you mentioned to. Yoko has GOT to come up with something new and just new! This is gettin old.

  • But I still love this song and prefer this to Stealth.

  • The whole track is such a quality piece of electronic music =)

  • Yes. Well it fits with Ghost in the Shell since it's a scifi anime.

  • Togusa, I can see you are a big fan of Ghost in the shell, so if you can tell me a web site were I can download Somewhere in the Silence that will be nice?

  • Go to khinsider... Google it and see if it comes up. :)
