  • discotechwreck i gotta little question:

can i record this in logic express 9 and can i do it step for step so i don't need to play the whole song in one time?

  • @DjTibee you can record it into any DAW provided you have a soundcard. You can sequence it on programs such as Ableton Live, however depending on your ADSR settings it may not sound quite right. There are hardware sequencers available too such as the Future Retro Orb or Analogue Solutions Europa which I would highly recommend. This is really a player's synth though.

  • Sir you just showed me the meaning of the Moog Synth,it was made for Dance,Electronica and Techno, this synth was made for me for my music :D

  • Mine should be arriving in a week. I'm so excited. I just love those sounds. Damn.

  • awesome video! i just got my little phatty last week and this thing is such a blast to play

  • Sounds very Prodigy-esqe.

  • thats ill man, i have one for a band i'm in, i use it more for bass

  • a demo that actually sounds good. nice job!

  • @aaronsheah911 cheers!

  • Great demo song for the LP. Did you build from a preset - I'd love to know more about the patch you used.

  • @Zskylar it's a custom patch, details of which are in the description.

  • last

  • sounds more like trance...

  • It is a great little synth indeed, however it'd be a killer if it were polyphonic!

  • sounds similar to a bass-line from a song by Muse.

  • just ordered this, cant fucking wait

  • @grunntalll Does it come with the cables?

  • @oOoInStInCtoOo i sure hope so.

  • @grunntalll well tell me if they do before i buy it :D so i can get the cables sperately

  • @oOoInStInCtoOo i will, comes sometime this week.

  • p.s. which version of the little phatty is it....is the stage ii the best too get....cause its loooking mighty pretty in my eyes

  • @ISpeakBahana it's the Stage I

  • hahah @ nice on the pentatonic scales cultrural eyes haha

  • this demo sold the little phatty to me!

  • is there a way to provide a beat with the little phatty? Like some sort of sequencer?

  • @V19torrent no, it's only a monophonic synthesizer and not a "beat-production studio" etc.

  • Sounds like an expensive toy just to get that sound you were playing around with which can be done in most software synths. Personally I'd only use this for bass.

  • @maccagrabme this is not just a sound you can achieve with softsynths, it might sound so, but there's still a lot of difference, a moog really cuts in to your mix, it's a bit difficult to describe, but there is a reason this is still one of the most popular synths around...

  • @maccagrabme I would hardly call it a toy. The whole appeal of analogue synths is the quality of the sound; the idiosyncrasies. I'm a big fan of soft synths (Fabfilter Twin 2, NI Massive) and I use them in my productions all the time, but there is something beautiful about a hands-on instrument.

  • woah, the LPS2 is epic. what a cool toy.

  • Great work. I love this demo of the LP. It's also nice to find a vid where someone is not just going up and down the keyboard playing pentatonic scales!

  • @culturaleyes thank you! ;)

  • siiiiiiiiiiiiiick.

  • nice ..!!

  • man how do you do that thing at the begining? Those sounds from 0:06 tru 0:16? Is that some kind of gate effect? Please reply

  • @rockstaragb can't totally tell which modulation setting he has on. but you can see him pull the wheel down. also does sound/look like he's going through a gate. im not 100% sure on account i've never seen this moog in real life

  • I really enjoyed this video, thanks for sharing it. Makes me more determined to buy a Moog.

  • Sounds badass man, love it.

  • this is good, i mean real good

  • Cutoff is the magic knob..... sounds fantastic

  • screw software synths

  • Yeah some soft synths do sound good but there is nothing like having the actual synth.

  • @maxiemclerx I played a new 650$ roland gaia and it sounded like absolute shit. for just 300$ more i bought a used little phatty, and its analog sounds a million times better, totaly worth the extra money

  • efka is absolutely right. I started with a LP and this synth learned me how synthesis work. You first have to learn how to work with the oscillators, filters etc. Later on i bought a korg ms 10 and i was glad i already knew how synthesis works because the older analog synths are not always easy to understand and to work with to get nice sounds out of it..I am also a great fan of EBM like Front 242 and thats why i'm proud to be Belgian. It all started in our little country.

  • would i be able to make "kaskade synths" with the little phaty 2?

  • @driftster99

allot of kaskade synths are made on his computer... there i more control there.... and way less expensive.

  • @ONEyeMarco oooh ok. thanks

  • look into software synthesizers

    such as

massive, sylenth 1, albino, fm8, zebra 2, absynth, rob papens blue and predator. there are quite a few good ones out there : )

  • thanks for the tip dude:) do you know which synth software kaskade uses??

  • @ONEyeMarco i see you dropped three of the native instruments softsynth names. coz they are the bomb. have you used dcam soft synths? would like to know how they compare with the NI, albino and rob papens.

  • @wildcomfort88 I have the dcam softsynths... they sound very warm, and the interface is very easy to work with. only prob i have with it is. it is a bit heavy on the CPU usage... I run a mac and it chews up the cpu.

  • Great stuff... Just love the sound! This would some phat rhythms would kick ass

  • Ableton, especially cause it's loop and midi clip based but still open and flexible enough to do real songs. Especially for more agressive electronic music that's very good. I use & bought both, sometimes together in rewire mode, but most of the times for composing only one of the two. Depends on the style of music and my mood *g*. For beginners Ableton is cool, for pros it is also cool. It is an ultra flexible piece of solid german engineering (cubase, too). & very good for live performances.

  • (Part 2 ;) ) you just need time and practice with your Moog, good software that suits your style of music (but you can do more sinister electronic music with almost every software out there although I prefer Ableton Live for my drum & bass and electro stuff and pure cubase for my goth and wave stuff ), good speakers or headphones, perhaps some other stimulators ;) & perhaps a bunch of friends. Just have fun and get some good tutorials from the net concerning analogue synthesis. Rule1:Have Fun!

  • @IndustrialListener the Moog's monophonic so it 's bloody easy to play :D And I personally think the key towards playing any instrument (I play keys, bass, guit and I sing for about 20 years now, I 'm not good but that is not the point ) is fun & motivation. You even do not need piano lessons (mine were 20 years ago when I was a teenager), you can substitute "sophistication" with a good DIY Punk Rock attitude.

  • @IndustrialListener: get the new moog, as a beginner, a real analogue vintage synth will be very frustrating. These old machines are sometimes unstable and you have to care for them. And are even more expensive. A vintage synth is cool, I think they still sound the best are a pain in the ass concerning care and repair etc. After the Little Phatty you could check out vintage gear :D but the Moog will not disappoint you, I would have dreamed of starting with a Moog but Casio CZs were cheaper ;)

  • @IndustrialListener Well cheaper than getting a working and mint condition Korg MS 20 which will always stay the original EBM machine :D But the Moog is more modern and you have all the advantages of a modern synth compared to vintage gear. And it is still analogue so it has punch and warmth.

  • I have both

and I think they each have their own place

the MS-20's timbre is far more thin

and it's very limited as far as modulation goes

but it can scream like no other machine I know

can't do bass to save it's life however

  • @discotechwreck that is totally right but the sound aesthetics of the MS 20 is the genre typical sound aesthetics of EBM. But if you want to do modern electronic music too I would definitely buy the Moog. Much more reliable and modern and the LP is affordable. There are few other modern 100% analogue synths out there but I think the Moog LP is the best value for the money.

  • if you plan on producing good music, i HIGHLY recommend the little phatty . honestly one of the best synths out there

  • awesome video dude, gives a good understanding what the little man can do

  • @IndustrialListener Only if you have enough money :) I'm getting a Xiosynth as my first synth, because it's cheap and sound adequate :)

  • @DomLagrueMusic yeah if you are a fan of the novation sound the xio is good, I had a K-Station for a while and it was a very good synth, still regret selling it, the novations have a unique sound that I really like

  • Gotta say, that was pretty sick.

  • Nice watch. Is it by Ted Baker?

  • Diesel actually; thanks though!

  • hELL YEA

  • YES !!!! i'd expect nothing less out-there from you. sounds fucking cool. new tarpwater?!?

  • Nice performance, not a big fan of the lp though x.x

  • the little phatty seems to have a very distinctive sound or maybe i've just been spending too much time with mine. yeah right! theres never too much time with the little phatty!

  • that's awesome!

  • you had me at 2:00 that was pretty cool

  • absoloutly loved it

  • I thought they were monophonic?

  • how did you connect the LP to logic?

  • i assume through its USB connection?

  • No, this is an original Stage I Edition

also, USB on the Stage II does not transmit audio like on a digital synthesizer

  • Little Phatty is the best thing on earth

  • Bello!

  • WOW..listen my friend, just include a simple beat with that..it will be gold..i still rated it 5, good job

  • With a Korg ER :D

  • Just need beat now dude

  • @sleepchillgoodtimes couldnt agree more

  • i love it ;)

  • beautiful!!!!

  • wow, the filter sweeps really sound great on this.

  • Im new to synthezisers, waht synthesizer would you recommend me to play the likes of rammstein and that stuff?

  • Depnds on what budget you have to spend. If your looking for something roughly under under £500 i'd go for the Alesis Micron or Ion. If your willing to spend alot more than this either one of these in this video or KORG M3, Access TI Polar and Nord Modular G2 are a good bet.

  • where the fuck can i buy a Alesis Ion, in UK.

  • dv247

  • it would be korg radius, the m3 is a workstation not a synth.

  • Tres cool

  • that was good!

  • This was amazing.

    :)

  • sick sick sick..really cool

  • Right on, sounds killer man.

  • yes mate twist them tunes, monster sounds

  • i wanna start to play the synthezisers

i have money to buy the korg r3 or the microkorg but i want the little phaty what do u recomend to me?

    - buy the microkorg, because a little phaty is not for a beginner.

    - buy the korg R3, because is better than the microkorg and the little phaty is not for a beginner.

    - save money to buy the little phaty, u wont be regret of this synth.

if a have to save money it take me 1 year to have the cash (to buy the little phatty u know)

  • You say that the little phatty is not for a beginner. I think the LP is the best learning synth mentioned above because of a very open and intuitive design, simple controlling and instant visual feedback. It also sounds great.

The LP and the Korgs are totally different synths. The Korgs are polyphonic, whilst the LP is monophonic - which is a major difference already. I would consider the Korgs more versatile due to MMT, fx etc

Also, some might find that a moog might be overkill for a beginner

  • ha ok thanks!

  • Go for the R3. It's a great overall synth and it's a LOT cheaper. ;) has a nice vocoder too.

  • buy the little phatty i was strap for cash also but i still got around to finding the money, this synth changed my life the stage 1 edition is dirt cheap now especially the display models at guitar shops. but ill warn you its monophonic if that turns you off buy the moog mg1 by realistic another great buy watch the you tube vids.

  • Korg R3 and Minimoog are completely different. I disagree saying you should buy the R3 first as well.

LFatty is perfect for a beginner, its really quite simple, plus it's a synth that will last a lifetime, where as the Korg R3 will end up redundant as it's pretty much a piece of crappy crap crap.

  • I have to disagree

I think the Korg R3's sound quality is just brilliant (all be it different to the Litte Phatty but nonetheless capable of some very incredible tones)

personally, I feel the LP would be overkill for someone JUST getting into synths

you may not like the sound, particularly the monophonic constraints

consider also that many people initially display enthusiasm for an instrument but eventually forsake it all together

my suggestions would be a Korg MS-10, Roland SH-101 or DSI Mopho

  • My beginner synth was a yamaha MM6 and I thought it was great for a begginer one

  • EVERYBODY is wrong. my first keyboard was a $200 yamaha DJX with built in speakers...many of the same sounds the pricey yamahas have, lots of effects, even arpeggiator, recording, etc. after a year of that, i bought my minimoog voyager, jupiter8, jd800, etc. NEVER spend big bucks unless you are sure.

  • buy a moog voyager.. and you'll sure be happy :) go nuts... \o/

  • oo fuck i want it but is so expensive, i can only buy microkorg or r3 or micro x but i want this!

  • very fucking cool

  • It sounds like some amazing machine. I'm saving up for one.

  • At about 1:10 it reminds me of the good ole days growing up playing Commodore games.

    THanks for the Vid.

    Moog lives!

  • jævla kjøtthue!

  • tape echo....sweeet.

i use an mxr analog delay that is a lot more natural and organic than digital, but you've got the full-on real deal! is it a spacecho? Watkins?

  • Roland RE-150

the MXR Carbon Copy is a great pedal

would use it over the tape echo to be honest because it doesn't require all the maintenance or a dedicate mains power supply!

you can achieve just about identical sounds to my ears

the new EHX DMM is also another great buy (far more control over the modulation, but loses out on the time available with a Carbon Copy)

for me the real king is the Moog Analog Delay though because of the CV control!

  • Add a Elektron drum and that kick some ass.

  • Dude, yu gotta lve the moog lil phatty!

  • Nice video!

Do you think it is possible to pass the sound from 2:00 to 2:10?

  • i need a better keyboard :P

  • im definetly considering getting this 2 use as my main bass and lead synth

if u made a track switching the filtering like u did hear in each verse or sweeping it during the breakdown.. with this patch ur using would song amazing

  • thanks for commenting on my TR-909 vid. wow phat synth....it would be mental synced to the 909 ! cool

    :)

  • i luv when people do a ton of filtering in the middle of the song like that! awsum song.

  • I'm in love with this Synth.

  • good!

    I really like.

    Keep working!

  • nice octive Arpeggios and Cool filtering. Little Phatty sure does come alive does'nt it? Also, Good discription of for all the Knob setting and so on. I might give those setting a try. Thanks

  • thank you for the nice comment

I'm going to upload a video of the OS 2 arpeggiator with some knob tweaking very soon once I find some time

personally, I think this is one of the best new features of the Little Phatty

with the filter poles set at 3, it gives the Roland TB-303 a run for it's money!
