Lol I've only got 6 months left thank God. The joke around our squadron is this: "Is that a bullet?" which is what is asked anytime something needs to get done. If the answer is no, it never gets done. I flew 44 combat missions on my last deployment. Wasn't even mentioned in my EPR. The douchebags getting promoted ahead of me? They planned the holiday party and have never deployed haha. My leadership is a bunch of SNCOs who haven't deployed in 18 years, asking me what should go in their mobilit
who were the five fucking idiots who disliked this video, I bet I know the Col and his four little cocksuckers that follow him around. I had the same thing as another guy, my first deployment was never mentioned on my OPR and I was told that a female Capt's "Woman of the Year award" for Cheyenne WY was more important to go to SOS than real decorations are. That Col is a General now.
Funny video, but seriously, a lot of haters out there. I'm not saying the Air Force, or military for that matter, are flawless, but it's not half as bad as the commentators on this page would present. I agree written performance reports are skewed and filled with fluff, but it's been my personal expierence over the past 19 years that if you work hard and master your craft, you'll succeed in the end. Sure your gonna run into some ass kissers, but that's anywhere you go civilian or military.
I got out 10 yrs ago and this was going on then. It's sad that even though you guys have to fight real wars now, nothing has changed in the world of OPRs. The only difference I see is that the Christmas party is now called a Holiday party.
You guys are doing good work though, hang in there.
Such a good video. It took them 5 years to get my first EPR done and it said nothing about my deployments, combat missions or work performance. It basically said I didn't kiss enough ass or plan any parties lol so I can't promote. 54 mondays to go and I'm quitting this crap, even with a $100K reenlistment bonus
There are two things in the AF that truly amaze me. The first is the personal sacrifices that people do for the sake of the mission. The second is how quickly that is all disregarded for failing to complete education off duty or performing community involvement.
Oh - NICE. After two MAJCOM jobs with the prospect of the next assignment to the Pentagon I pulled the plug after 10 yrs bc the 75% of ones getting pushed ahead of the pack were butt shark execs who were making careers of following stars.
Oh - NICE. After two MAJCOM jobs with the prospect of the next assignment to the Pentagon I pulled the plug after 10 yrs bc the 75% of ones getting pushed ahead of the pack were ankle biting execs who were making careers of following stars.
This is so true, they hit it right on the head. I'm retiring in a couple days and I requested an all male honor guard, they are threatening to cancel the ceremony and seem to be doing a mini investigation to see if there is any malice or prejudice. I did 17 years outside the air farce and the last 10 in the blue suit. It was the biggest mistake of my life. They should have added a line about all the career execs and all the broads who sleep around even with COLs
hahahaha "that school is a factory for douchebags... i drank my self stupid every night to ease the pain of dealing with those retarded asskissing shitheads... if it hadnt been for the fact that i was so hungover everyday, i would have brought a shotgun to work and made columbine look like a kindergarten play"... FUCKING BRILLIANT!!!!
Looks like it hasn't changed since I retired in '87. Flew combat, earned 2 Masters, and I could have been sitting in front of this guy getting this BS briefing. At least I had a real job in the ALCE and got things done instead of pissing in the wind. What a waste of talent and resources. We used to look around at those who got promoted and wonder what did they ever really accomplish? Most were primarily good golfers. Think I'd have retired as a two star if I'd taken up golf ...
and you wonder why the system is so broke and made for all the ass kissers of the world...the more awards and medals and such i see on someone, the less respect i have for them cause very few actually earned it
I see that the Air Force of 2010 is the same as the Air Force of 1985. What a shame. Thanks to all of you blue suiters that put up with this crap (from one that could only take it for ten years before either separating or committing Hari-kiri.)
Hey, at least they don't allow the openly gay CO to make passes, expecting a sheepish grin and return flirtation in reciprocation at the least. A CO just laying it out there as a fast track to promotion and all. At least the Fedcoats haven't gone that far.
So true. The classic is the reference to the whole AETC environment with the inate ramblings. Careerist a-hole who sacrifices the mission for personal gain! Know a few of those. Try getting screwed out of a SOS slot and then refusing to do it by correspondence only to somehow get a "DP" anyway.....unreal!
Dude, this is fucking brilliant! I had the same conversation in 1980 when I came back from SOS... good to see some things never fucking change... NOT!
I served in the Army. This conversation is very true to life in many ways. Sometimes the idiot who does nothing all day but with the shiniest boots and who kisses the most ass gets ahead faster then those who do actual work.
It isn't any better in the civilian workplace. People are people and you find them like that in all walks of life. Although, I can completely relate to this video.
It's not about how well you do the job, it's not about showing true leadership...it's about how much you subscribe to the corporate mentality and how well you do all the other bs they pile on top of you. True blue geeks breed true blue geeks; and all the decent guys bail.
i ate the bag of dicks at walmart and it tasted way better than the air force... as much as i liked the military sad to say officer or enlisted, deployed or not this was spot on! great job!
That's why I got out of the Air Farce. Never mind the usual jabs at the AF, the actual work environments, leadership, and constant coddling of useless people is an absolutely fucking joke. The fact that we're starting to deploy with the Army for 6-12 months AFTER one month of Army training didn't help matters any, either.
Good job with the video, by the way. Highly commendable, highly accurate.

I always tell people that the AF cares about 4 things in no particular order:
1. Passing the PT Test
2. Masters degree
3. PME in correspondence
4. Showing up to work
If you take care of those 4 things you'll go further than if you are a " master of your craft."

I've been Army and Air Force. First question the Army asks on a promotion board is, "Have you recruited anyone?"
"Yes, sir, and I'm considering a job in crab fishing. I'll wait for them to crawl into my net, then hoist them up and boil them alive."
