Ian McShane, and Tim Olyphant MADE the show. I can't imagine Deadwood without them. Of course the rest of the cast are fantastic too. Thanks for posting! Reminds me I need to watch the series again.
That show kept promising a huge mafia war pay off but it never happened. All that happened was too many fucking theropy sessions. I barely got through Tony's coma episodes...
@SkizMaroo I guess some people type out their comment before they even watch the entire video? How does that even work? How will you know what to comment on? That is a real noodle scratcher.
@ontariobuds Lol, maybe from smoking too many buds :) I cant speak for Ontario, but I once had an opportunity to sample some B.C. Bud, and all I can say is wow. I was glad I didnt have to talk to any Mounties. I doubt I could have spelled my name correctly :) I had to carry some back to the ATL for my friends to try. Ive never been so unhappy to see a dog in customs, lol.
err, i love deadwood, but don't put down the sopranos because along with this show, deadwood, the sopranos and the wire we have the three top television shows ever.
Deadwood is as good as anything I've ever seen, and I'm not restricting it to movies. Shakeseare like one poster said, yes, but with a depth that is awe inspiring. It should come back.
Im a bit confused about the term 'cut'. In video I think of cut as 'left out of', as opposed to music where a cut would refer to a take. ie "Damn, thats a great cut!"
Yeah Deadwood and The Wire are both right there. on any given day given the mood I'm in either is number one on my list. Great writing and great acting in both.
I recently downloaded seasons 1 and 2 off some website, it's a great show. I'd like a little more gunning (just the kind of westerns I grew up on) but the story makes up for it. The one and only big issue I have about the show is showing women with hairy armpits, they already made up a lot of the characters so they could've probably left out that bit of authenticity, sheesh. :)
Mayhaps, it was categorized under western/drama so I probably should have expected more. I'm still not really dissapointed with it, Al Swearengen was a fantastic character.
Yes but Bullock saw the error of his ways and arranged for Otis Russell's protection. Which shows that, in the end, Bullock is the true steel and possesses genuine moral fibre.
That was almost the shame of the episode. Ole Otis deserved more than the ass beating he got. Marrying Alma off to Brom "that New York dude" Garrett was the first time he sold his daughter out... he was prepared to cut her throat for a piece of her gold claim..... he truly was a cocksucker :-)
What is it you dont get? You really have to watch it all from the beginning to follow the story but this clip is really just about hypocrisy. Bullock wants a man dead and thinks that if he can get someone else to do it his hands will somehow remain clean. Even the first line from the cavalryman illustrates just how dense and deluded people can be. I laugh and shake my head every time I hear it.
what was the first line? i couldn't quite catch it - something about taking turns like white men? nice clip -- i just recently started watching deadwood and am slowly making my way through the netflix dvds.
Lol, yeah he says (talking about a prostitute mind you) "I wont do it 2 on 1... we'll take turns like white men".
I liked the show when it was on HBO, but it wasnt until I rented the DVDs, and watched with the subtitles on, that I realized how much of the story I missed the first time around.
I've watched it from the very beginning so i've awaited something big but there was nothing special for me. Maybe i didn't quite catch the show or it's not my thing you know.
yeah, there is no "something big" per se. The beauty of this show was the storytelling and the dialog.... the contrast between good and evil and all the shades of grey in between. It was all about character development. If youre looking for Transformers style special effects you wont find it here. The story as a whole is whats special.
No no don't think i'm one of those people who think Transformers is the best the movie of all time. I'll prefer movie with great dialog and story rather than action and stupid love story. But i don't get this show. Is something wrong with me.
Lol, I dont think theres anything wrong with you. I know a lot of people who dont get the show. Frankly, I didnt get it at first either. I really had to dive into the story to appreciate what the show was about. To each their own.
No, nothing is wrong with you. Nothing is wrong with me or SkizMaroo either. The measure of a show's quality isn't in the broadness of its appeal but in how much it is loved by the people it does appeal to.
This show was amazing. Like another HBO show, Carnivale, HBO decided it had run its course and said they didn't want anymore episodes. Another one to be added to the "brilliant but cancelled" pile of tv shows.
White collar Time Warner shareholders don't fuck around and take a piss from nobody.
...sorry, must have been the show.
Anyways, don't think that these decisions are made by the directors or crews. Marketing determines the projected expected viewing figures. If this figure for an additional season lays under the average figure for a new first series, there is not going to be an additional season.
i never really watched this show but my dad watched it all the time i was more of a sopranos fan but with all the videos ive watched this show looks great im planning on buying the complete series box set
im buying the complete series this weekend ive seen a few episodes before do you know why the series was so short. Also did you know they are making a sopranos movie
Absolutely worth owning from a Sopranos fan point of view. I watch very few TV shows and buy less on DVD but this is a great show. You don't want to miss a word of the dialogue, nothing is wasted.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
i don't understand why people like cowboy movies in the first place there dumb and retarded hell i could have a more interesting life than this just talk shit and boss people around and act gruff it's not special!!;p
One of my favorite moments of the series...Dan's second, "If he *don't die*..."

No doubts Dan's ass would have been in the pig pin if he had crossed Bullock when he was in that mood. The boy was in the war and he didn't play.
