bet if tiff was driving the clio the saxo would have been left standing, iv had both of these cars and the clio is faster and better on the corners altho the vts is a good little car and i had loads of fun in mine the clio is in another leauge

i prefer a clio 172 over a saxo anyday but the facts are the saxo goes round corners faster my mates vtr went round corners quicker then another lad from the cruises 182

Clio's way better than that saxo ive got one and i know!! Well mines a 182 but who cares a 172 im sure is still better than the saxo.

yes the clio is better,, that is why the saxo is kissing the clio's rearbumper all the time with 54 hp less then the 'allmighty' clio

Clios arent that much quicker, mine has breathers and can match up to 90mph all day long

Really? I guess that explains why the Saxo was up the Clio's arse in the bends then, hmm? My point is that with it's power advantage and newer chassis the Clio should be able to destroy the Saxo VTS. Evidently, it can't quite do this round the track.

Of course the Clio 172 is a quick little ride but come on, with just 120 bhp (a full 50 less remember!) the little Saxo VTS is class-enough to give it a hard time! Give the VTS similar power and without question it would blast the Clio away...

Yes... but the Saxo DOESN'T have similar power, so it wont be blasting the Clio away. As good as saying 'If I get a head start, I will win.' Pointless.

If Saxo's are shit why was it breathing down the Clio's neck in the twisties? For the same money as a used RS Clio you could get a VTS 16v and pop £1k of mods on (exhaust, induction, camshafts, remap), and you'd be waving good-bye to the Clio behind you, straights and bends.

Saxo's arnt shit. I've had 2 106's (the same car) and loved them both, but they are in different leagues because of the horsepower difference as standard. It's pointless saying spend X amount on it and it'll beat something. The only way to compare would be to spend 1k on both and I'm afraid the clio would be quicker. I have a mk1 172 and from EXPERIENCE unless the saxo/106 has forced induction it's no problem at all.
