so lithium is a numbing drug that makes you happy, so shes saying it metaphorically that she is trying to be happy but doing negative things to do it. Even though she doesn't want to let her sorrow go

@Thehighschool8888 No this song was based on what caused amy lee's depression. amy lee's third sister died of an unknown disease and amy lee suffered from depression because of that. amy had to go into lithium the drug to become happy listen to the song like you by evanescence and listen to it carefully you will hear "i long to be like you sis"

This is definitely one of Ev's best songs, even though that really doesn't say much about it, because as a diehard fan, everything they have ever put out is utter genius to me, but this song is just amazingly beautiful in so many ways and also something that I can relate to.

Usually I'm not that big fan of Evanescence, but I've always loved this track :) The strings and piano express so much feeling and all though Amy Lee has a fantastic voice I absolutely love this instrumental version - so melancholoc, yet beautiful.

@AnOceanbornsSoul You cannot pay for the instrumentals unless it's boot leg. My guess is that it should be traded like the demos, if you're buying it, it's not from Evanescence, so just download it. There's little buttons up there to convert in into an mp3. Trust me, Amy won't mind.

I love the stringed instruments in this it gives it a sort of eary (don't know if thats spelled right) effect and you cant hear them as much when she's singing but I love the song like this. It'sstill awesome with her vocals cause she's such an amazing singer!

i did the talent show, I DIDN'TWIN ANYTHING 1st 2nd OR 3rd!!!!! and alot of ppl i talked 2 said i got jipped, so didn't my friend, she got 2nd, but she sang and did guitar, and did good, so either her or me should've gotten 1st. i woar a white dress, and makeup just like the vid, but my dress was more happy, and not sad. my dad owns a garage, and he said one of my teachers went over there 2 say i did a good job:D just letting u know.

i'm in the talent coming up, and i LOVED this song the first time i heard it. i would post a vid of me singing it on here, but my mom said i can't because of weirdos.:( but my mom and friends and ppl i HATE say i sing just like her. i can understand getting tired out from singing this song, she usually sings REALLY long notes! but i learned how 2 sing like her:) i sang ever sing i first heard a song, wich is that since i could talk! so like 1 to 3. and NEVER had lessons:) so i'm a natural at it.

yeah my friends say I sound exactly like her when I sing and before it took me a lot of practice when I was eight I found a passion for singing and joined the school choir and taught myself how to sing. My first singing lesson I took was of Enya her smooth soft sound and high piched vocals, made it easier for me to sing like amy lee but as you said it takes a lot of practice so don't stop trying. And yeah it takes a long time because look I'm eight-teen that took me a long time!!

@kibblespearl2000 same here. Actually I cant get the last three lines but Im trying :/ I figured out that hot steam helps relax my vocal chords so that I can sing higher =) I sing in the shower with the water really hot. I start with hello, then sweet sacrifice, then lithium. :)
