Crysis2 wasnt laughable at all. It had similar graphics but was waay easier on rhe hardware (partly because it wasnt as open as the first, part because it had a better optmized engine). And to be honest, it was way more fun. Crysis1 was only good as a benchmark

LOL WOW I just got back on Wednesday from a Europe Cruise with my family and one of the places we stopped at was Dubrovnik, Croatia. That is weird of you to mention. It was a fun cruise. Anyway I didn't see any there, didn't have time. Although I did see some PS3 games and they were around the same price for the same game here in Canada. I had to translate Euros to Canadian dollars but roughly the same.

that game is called genji days of the blade and was the first game released for the ps3(at least in my town) i bought it 24 hours before i bought my ps3(waited in line) and then about an hour later i got resistance. its a pretty cool game and looks really good especially for the first game.
How much would it cost to buy p.c that could handle current gen console stuff (gta4, fc2, etc), plus crysis? Perhaps enough to buy all three consoles, plus a few games....
But still, that pc would be a bargin because the fastest graphics cards are atleast 4 times as powerfull as a PS3 and if money wasn't a problem, you could run 2 4870x2's together which actually means you have 4 graphics processors and 4 gigabites of video ram. Yes, the PS3 would cost a lot less but you are getting more for your money with the PC. You also get quadcore 64-bit processors that games like FEAR 2 and GTA4 take full advantage of. I personally have one 4870x2 :)
Yeah, I really do wish I could get a super sweet game computer rig. A good PC would last you 5 years, but you are right, it is expensive. Here is abit of trivia, Microsoft stopped supporting Windows 98 in 2006. Crysis does need an extremely powerfull PC to play at high settings but I can tell you from runing those high settings on my own PC, Crysis looks miles better than any other game. ssssroryssss2, the PS3 has a more powerful CPU than Intel has out right now (including the Core i7 965 XE), but PC platform has a more powerful GPU and faster HDD.
Sony had a GT5P demo with 4 - PS3s and ran the game at 240fps@ 2160p (basically 4x 1080p).
GPUs in PCs don't get used much. PC developers are having a hard time truly multi-threading their code, but 1st/2nd party PS3 developers have figured it out. NO PC games are fully able to take advantage of even a quad core CPU, yet.
The GPU is based on a 7800/7900GT. The 4870x2 by itself can get 2000gigaflops and there are plenty of games that max-out a GPU lke.....Crysis and Far Cry 2. Such GPUs can play games at 2560x1920 natively which is far better than 1080p, meaning no upscaling. The PS3 cannot do this and most games are capped at 720p, not 1080p/i. Rockstar have stated that the lowest settings in GTA4PC are about the same as the PS3 version. This video shows what the 4870x2 can do in realtime /watch?v=7fzkHGch12c
Just because your GPU performance drops during a scene doesn't mean it's maxed out. Crysis was designed inefficiently in order to drive the PC GPU market. You could get WAY more performance out of those GPUs if it was in a closed development environment.
Can you buy a TV that has 2560x1920 resolution? What games do you play at that resolution? That's what I thought. Ans, please don't come to me with multiplatform games as examples. They don't take advantage of the PS3's hardware at all.

LOL WOW I just got back on Wednesday from a Europe Cruise with my family and one of the places we stopped at was Dubrovnik, Croatia. That is weird of you to mention. It was a fun cruise. Anyway I didn't see any there, didn't have time. Although I did see some PS3 games and they were around the same price for the same game here in Canada. I had to translate Euros to Canadian dollars but roughly the same.

I have both an expensive PC and a PS3. The fact in the matter is that a good PC has more power for *gaming* at least than the PS3.
Also LPCM is just uncompressed audio the same quality as a CD which uses it.

You don't even understand what you're saying. Killzone 2 is heavily physics based on top of 350 dynamic lights. NO PC games has even 100 dynamic lights. NO PC game has the animations that Killzone 2 has. More importantly, NO PC game has 350 dynamic lights, the animations Killzone 2 has, heavily physics based weather and particles, AND 7.1 DISCRETE LPCM audio TOGETHER.
Those are the facts. You can choose to turn a blind eye to that if you wish. But, it doesn't make it any less true.

501stTrooper12, the way Crysis is coded is NOT for the Cell architecture. It's like trying to get an English speaking person to understand German. It has to be tailored properly. Crysis is in another language that the PS3 can't understand.
I'm repeating this again, but here goes. Killzone 2 does everything that Crysis does and then some. Textures is what Crysis has over Killzone 2's engine.

But still, that pc would be a bargin because the fastest graphics cards are atleast 4 times as powerfull as a PS3 and if money wasn't a problem, you could run 2 4870x2's together which actually means you have 4 graphics processors and 4 gigabites of video ram. Yes, the PS3 would cost a lot less but you are getting more for your money with the PC. You also get quadcore 64-bit processors that games like FEAR 2 and GTA4 take full advantage of. I personally have one 4870x2 :)

A good PC would last you 5 years, but you are right, it is expensive. Here is abit of trivia, Microsoft stopped supporting Windows 98 in 2006. Crysis does need an extremely powerfull PC to play at high settings but I can tell you from runing those high settings on my own PC, Crysis looks miles better than any other game. It's simply jaw droppingly good.

ssssroryssss2, the PS3 has a more powerful CPU than Intel has out right now (including the Core i7 965 XE), but PC platform has a more powerful GPU and faster HDD.
Sony had a GT5P demo with 4 - PS3s and ran the game at 240fps@ 2160p (basically 4x 1080p).
GPUs in PCs don't get used much. PC developers are having a hard time truly multi-threading their code, but 1st/2nd party PS3 developers have figured it out. NO PC games are fully able to take advantage of even a quad core CPU, yet.

The GPU is based on a 7800/7900GT. The 4870x2 by itself can get 2000gigaflops and there are plenty of games that max-out a GPU lke.....Crysis and Far Cry 2. Such GPUs can play games at 2560x1920 natively which is far better than 1080p, meaning no upscaling. The PS3 cannot do this and most games are capped at 720p, not 1080p/i. Just because your GPU performance drops during a scene doesn't mean it's maxed out. Crysis was designed inefficiently in order to drive the PC GPU market. You could get WAY more performance out of those GPUs if it was in a closed development environment.
Can you buy a TV that has 2560x1920 resolution? What games do you play at that resolution? That's what I thought. Ans, please don't come to me with multiplatform games as examples. They don't take advantage of the PS3's hardware at all.
