  • Oakridge Boys bass singer..I think.

  • The voice of an angel..and if God made a more beautiful girl, he kept her with him.

  • John Farrar was never her husband. He did produce for her though.

  • love this song..... great live performance and that dude with the low voice behind Olivia really makes this song sound really cool.

  • great nostalgia thanks

  • sexy

  • I'd like to be there for somebody.....

  • This video was aired the day after I graduated HS. Love ONJ then and now.

  • After watching this video, and comparing her to which she looks today, I can honestly say that she looks incredibly good. She has aged very well over the course of 37 years. That is also taking into account the fact that she has conquered breast cancer as well.

Another person who has aged very well through the years is Meg Ryan. She too is another cutie!!

May God bless and keep you's.....may God's light shine on you's......may God be kind to you's and give you Peace..... Thanks Olivia & Meg.

  • I'm 55,now "Man did I love doing Acid, and going to Rock Concerts in Chicago during the 70's...I'm 55 now "Man did I love doing Acid, and going to rock Concerts in Chicago during the 70's...I'm 55 now "Man did i love doing Acid, and going to Rock concerts in the 70's!

  • Did anyone figure out who the bass singer is? He's a good one IMO.

  • @Shakemilk2

I thought it was none other than her then-husband and producer John Farrar.

  • I really like her very much, she was someone I looked up too and was a wonderful role model. This was a favorite song of mine by Olivia Newton John. She had such a soulful, sexy, angelic, inspirational, & great voice. Such a talent this women...

  • what a lovely angelic voice and sweet looking.

No one can sing this song like her but good luck trying!!

  • @rosebuddy47 Elvis did a damn good job of covering this song.

  • Look up 'sexy voice' in the dictionary and you will see the face of the beautiful Olivia Newton John!

  • This is how I remember Olivia when she first burst on the UK Music Scene. What is remarkable is that she has managed to preserve her voice, good looks and terrific shape even today. Every time I see this video it inspires me to keep working out at 70. I 'll never look like her but at least I can aspire to be as fit as her. Thnx for the post

  • Don't call him Shirley...

  • This is one of the two favorites I liked of her. Thank you for sharing.

  • Love this song... Hadn't heard it in so long... I had forgotten about it ... Thanks for sharing it...

  • Don't know the bass singer's name - he OD on heroine about six months after this clip.

  • @jhandsfield

Actually it is generally acknowledged that the distinctive bass part for this (and many others) was Mike Sammes. Unlike many musicians who did die from drugs, he lived to be 73 and died in 2001.

  • What a great song and a great singer! The Bass singer really sets the song up to another level. Soes any one know who the Bass singer was on this cut?

  • She, just glows

  • can't get enough of this music

  • Olivia was always best doing Country.

  • LOVE THE 50's & 60's..change!

  • As amazing today as she ever was!

  • Wow; great voice, great song, beautiful woman, smoking. Why can't we have great music like this anymore?

  • sweet jeezuz shes hott.

  • love this song, Olivia's performance, & that deep, base male voice accompaniment !

  • TALK ABOUT A FRESH FACE

  • @debbie0wayler,thank you very much. This song was 37 years ago. Cheers to good health. 20111126@0828am Saturday

  • Olivia inspired me to finish medical school. On those long nights of study when I became depressed I would listen to an eight track tape of her songs. Yes, back then we only had eight track tapes! LOL

  • @CoraFaye thanks...now i feel old....lmao

  • Most. Beautiful. Woman. Ever.

  • im only 18 lol but i loveeee this song, such respect for the 70's-90's music.. such a brilliant time for music

  • I loove Olivia, despite what some warped opinioned, screwed up people like CarCriticAcessor may think of her.

  • She's perfect.

  • Thanks debbie0wayler.

  • It's great! Thank you, debbieOwayler

  • Wow! I first saw her in in 1974 UK on the TV when I was 30. It's wonderful to see how well she has aged and still sings so clearly and strongly. Thanks for the post.

  • aylavett...=))

  • Oliva Newton John is a classy lady. Saw her in concert here in Portland, OR, a few years back and had a really close seat. She is NOT hiding her age and she is older as we all are but still looks amazing. She even had her daughter come on stage & sing with her. Her daughter looks so much like her. I hate to see an artist bashed for no good reason. Her singing is awesome and has matured as well. I plan on singing this for a solo with a pops group I sing with in the Portland Metro area.

  • She (or he) went from looking lovely, with some semblance of "natural", warped in an artfully crafted (err, peroxide) nearly angelic fair-haired-gal, projecting a refined, intelligent and sincere image.... to effectively repelling her fan base in an ill-advised bid to remain "relevant" and current, repackaged in 1980s "material girl" loud-brassy-tackiness .... with a whole lot of ... err ... dyke tossed into the mix .... right? Wow -- what a waste ... a nightmare course in self-debasement.

  • Was 18 in 1974 and yes.. I Had a huge crush on her. Still do. ;)

  • Oh, wow awesome she's sounds so goooooooood after all this time....Thanks for posting.

  • love all her music still great looking 2011

  • Don CARE if it's lip-synced or not......GREAT song!! GORGEOUS woman!!!!

  • I love this song so much, and i love her voice for her voice is so crisp, clean clear and not having to do anything fanciful, for this is what i call a pure love song with a pure voice and from a very great looking lady. This song makes me feel good and in my opinion no one does this song better than Olivia Newton John. i can sing this song well and many people have praised me for it but i can and never ever will attempt to take away from the fact that she is the goddess of this song

  • She is so pretty. Beautiful voice. I use to have a serious crush on her

  • @enmaxus Hell i would still go out with her and im 19 lol

  • @alphakid42 I think she is singing live with the studio recording providing backup--not lip syncing. Great voice either way.

  • What a great, early video - thanks for the share !

  • my favorite song

  • A one of a kind performance from a one of a kind show. Only Bert Sugarman could have created and only Wolfman Jack could have hosted The Midnight Special. Like many Gen Xers I was way too young to watch this and rediscovering this at places like youtube brings back great memories of Great Perfomers!

  • This clip was made 11 years before I was born... and I could still 'Like' it.

...wonder if the future generations would do the same for Lady Gaga...

  • This is when Olivia was being a sweet, good little angel; Before she was wanting to get Physical with guys. Sweetness personified.

  • This song has an uplifting beat to it and shows originality and feelings for friendship

  • A little disappointing that she is using the studio recording and lip syncing. One would have thought the Midnight Special to have more integrity.

  • She's awesome, one of a kind.

  • I didn't know she did this song... cool

  • i cant find this song at itunes :(

  • Saw Olivia in concert in Portales, NM with my high school girl friend. What a night !!!! OLIVIA NEWTON JOHN ............nuff said.

  • The first time i saw this girl @ 9 yrs old,i knew immediately i was hetero!!! i was completely, utterly stoned smitten in love with this girl.completely helplessly, totally lost tripping over my tongue in love.....i watch this 37 yrs later and its no wonder!!!

  • She was such a beautiful young woman. Voice like an angel. Oz's gift to the world.

  • Love it.

  • She was hot when this was made and still is in 2011

  • really nice and soft voicer Olivia , I love you and like your nice performing..

  • One thing I like bout past artists, when you go to their concerts, you know they'll be great cause they don't need the technology crap to make them sound goo dcause they already good. Like Conway Twitty, Johnny Cash, they're awesome.. Today's artists I can't tell sometimes if their voices are really as good as they appear cause when we go to concerts the amps are cranked so loud you can hardly hear them singing the words.. I went to a Charley Pride concert and you could hear EVERY word

  • I DIDN'T REALIZE SHE SANG THIS SONG!!! LOVE IT!!

  • Yes this girl Olivia is soooooooooo beautyfull and so is her voice. I love Oliva.

She has been so sucesfull and with class and never getitng into the bad life of drugs. She has brains as well. Just cant seem to say enough good about her.

One more thing. I couldnt help but laugh at the comment below about Lady GaGa. I totally agree. She does suck. ha ha ha. And the name, It's like gag gag.

  • She is soooo beautiful

  • One of the most Beautiful women ever!

  • Message to Lady Ga Ga: YOU SUCK- PLEASE GO AWAY.

  • @GraveyardGhost559 And I thought I was the only one that thought that... Lady Ga Ga isn't bad, it's just she is so determined to use shock value to get one's attn... If she chilled on that crap, people would notice she really isn't too bad.

  • Loves this song...love that deep baratone back up singer

  • @TheRockerchef I heard thats the dude from the oak ridge boys

  • @bigcheese1973 Very well could be,never gave much thought. Allways liked some of their stuff as well, even though I'm more of a harder rock fan.

  • I think that is the dude from the oak ridge boys

  • Too sweet, too happy.

    Peace,

    V

  • I love this song. I especially like the sound of the guy doing the background during the chorus.

  • MAN,I WAS 4 YEARS OLD WHEN I FELL IN LOVE WITH HER.

  • @Super70duster I suppose that's a little safer than if she fell in love with a 4 year old>

  • @Alikah1 nothin wrong with alittle crush on a pretty women

  • Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood could use some voice lessons from Olivia, music was music, and quality was quality, Olivia was really good, and suffered a great amount of criticism from American artist. But she was unstoppable. Taylor and Carrie are great, don't get me wrong, but could learn from some of our great women of music.

  • Olivia is still so pretty ! Check out this recent vid:

OLIVIA NEWTON-JOHN TALKS PASSION, CHLOE & OPRAH

    watch?v=IRUkVUOTDw4

  • Stellar.

  • what a babe!! she and Carol Carpenter had such lush romantic voices...so smooth and yummy!!

  • This is better than any song of 2011!

  • I loved her in the 70's and knowing what she's been through, and how strong she's had to be, what an awesome lady to have come through all that and still put other's first. Well done Olivia! My heart goes out to you xxx

  • wow she is hott

  • Great Song! However, not a good song to listen to 3x in a row when you are suffering from empty nest syndrome. Now, i'm a blubbering mess. I think I need to adopt another puppy.

  • love it

  • WOW this takes me waaaay back look at her i feel so old but the song will never die~i even saw xanado~thanx for posting this i havnt seen anything of her in years~dd

  • That Voice and that face were my first clues as to why men believe in angels

  • Thats some voice on that base backing singer superb

  • @cpnstav I think that voice may be J.D. Sumner, I could be wrong.

  • @cpnstav it was prolly Lurch.

  • Silly dress, silly 70's hairdo, and still super-crazy hot, not to mention talented. I miss these days.

  • God, I loved this song! Still do. Thanks for the clip!

  • She STUCK that performance too! The added vocal inflections are entirely livvie, yet not on any of the studio tracks. great show olive, and you're so very lovely!

  • What a beauty !!!

  • olivia is so goog she dont know it when she sain this song ( sonny brooks) jonesboro.ark 4 24 11

  • 美しい映像の美しいオリビアのupして下さいまして、ありがとうございます。○┐

  • Some of the memories I have attached to this song and music era are parking on dirt roads, chicks in halter tops, bell bottoms, long hair, 8 track tapes, 50 cent a gallon gas, muscle cars, dances in the gym, Friday night football games, and many more. How about my YOU TUBE fans? Any additions of memories from the70's song era? Oh yea I forgot a hot sweet little blonde that rode shot gun many nights in my 68 Red Camaro.

  • WOW I REMEMBER THIS AND I ALSO REMEMBERED MY MEMBER TO OLIVIA!

  • I was 5 in 1974 and I wanted to marry Olivia then :P She is a beauty and lady!

  • @ATBINTC I was 14 then. I STILL want to marry her. ;-)

  • @mtedeschi Me too :)

  • @ATBINTC Me three!!!

  • Awesome, awesome, awesome!!! First heard this beautiful gal when I just got out of highschool here in Alaska. She rocked my world. I feel more deeply now than I did back then.......Olivia! Marry me!

  • she was a huge star at this time...who would not want to blank her?

  • Olivia Newton John is so beautiful even a non lesbian girl like me would eat her pussys for days.

  • I sang this in 9th grade talent show..one of the best times in life! :)~~

  • i was so retarded in love with this lady when i was a boy! and i love this song.

  • HEART-MELTING, STONE-COLD FOX!

  • Woo hoo!!! What a BABE!!! Beautiful Beautiful!!

  • That's the way I recall you in those days, a little bit country. What a delight! Still looking for that wonderland...

  • The most beautiful smile ever.

  • she was SO pretty!

  • @janmarbol Was?

  • This was in heavy rotation on my record player in 1974. God she was so beautiful. My first crush as a school boy.

  • @RTT8001 Was?

  • Great song, great voice, and she's hot. There's no way this song could have failed! i wish the US would go back to its roots. Words you can understand, has musical value, is nice to watch and hear, and makes you feel better....not worse. Thanks for posting!

  • @SSGKV Amen! Great music, particularly from the era of the seventies certainly qualifies as songs that ushered in the genre of feel good get you movin' kinda songs!

  • Comment removed

  • @bser3973 why do you talk about yourself like that?

  • @SSGKV Agreed!

  • @SSGKV +1. Been thinking that exact thought the last 20 years.

  • @SSGKV As a gen Xer I missed this live, but with so many young people roaming the west (baby boomers), there was just such a huge pot to pick for talent. Now that the pot is so much smaller, we end up with music getting worse instead of better.

  • i used to sing this when i was 9 years old and i lived in south central L.A and i had to play this song when the other kids who bullied me were gone and i would sing this song to the top of my lungs! i sounded just like her!

  • @traceymallard I lived in south central 1962 - 1970. I would not have bullied you. I would have stopped playing to listen to you sing this happy song, Tracey.

Wow, Olivia Newton-John was (is, actually) such a sweetheart cutie pie.

  • @traceymallard 'Cept you weren't lip syncing :)

  • @alphakid42 She really is singing live. :)

The recorded version is different... gotta love Olivia!

  • @traceymallard GREAT STORY!! its always better to be u......if u need to be in secret to be yourself cause kids r cruel, hey its cool. people on tv saying be u its fine, take a stand .didnt have they ass beat in street . when its safe, i sang in shower...i sound like MJB..lol neighbors told me!

  • yes this live, Olivia was one of the few singers of her time to be able to sing live like on record

  • @LittleRicky66 Of her time? You mean like almost EVERY artist who's ever cut a record. Good gracious I wish the still made music like this, now what do we have, Miley? Pardon me while I puke.

  • Yay! No negative comments! (I'm an ollld guy and was in my late teens when this song was a hit. Loved it then and still do.) I'm always ...amazed? when the haters get on here and feel they have to dog out great music!

  • beautiful song and vid.

  • Love this song, I sing a version of it, if you want to check it out type in- sheree I have a dream and go to the 3rd song.

  • Beautiful voice, beautiful person (inside and out!)

  • comme Elvis

  • Great song from a talented woman...great memory from the 70's! The 70's were a great time...the music, the tv shows, the cars, tv went off after the late show and people slept at night. Definitely a more simple time, before the crap of today began.

  • wow, what a babe!!! always liked the song and the background bass voice.

  • Is this live? And who is the guy backing her up?

  • She was beautiful then and is a beatiful today. She's a beautiful soul. Love me some Olivia N-J.

  • One of the handful of female singers I was in love with as a young boy. On a scale of beauty, she is a 10 out of 10, and she's got a gorgeous voice to boot.

  • Comment removed

  • I miss this, when artist sang and didn't try to act like sluts and whores. This was when REAL music prevailed. The last ten years has produced some(not all) of the worst music imaginable. I hop the next decade will produce REAL artists

  • @freebird1974 , Isn't that the truth? You said it all. It's sad that for some reason people can't sing any more.

  • I was born in 1976 but I like to listen 70's

  • @pokpakful What sort of pointless comment is that?

I was born in the 60's but i like to listen to 60's - SO WHAT???

  • Loved her on this--I remember her back in the 70's and I always thought she had such a lovely voice and was such a lovely lady

  • Elvis did this many times live- both this song and If you love me let me know were on his last album Moody Blue which went gold before he died there is live footage of him receiving the award on Youtube.

  • Olivia makes singing seem so easy

  • I was 9 when this song came out.... 32 years later is my fave karaoke song :)

  • this was always one of my favorite songs she sang--she was so darn pretty and talented back then---

  • Her music makes you feel happy. Prettiest smile ever!!

  • @mbhotie715 you're right-she is beautiful in this vid

  • This is a true performer and she is beautyful

  • Good!

  • don't get me wrong, I do like her, but it sure looks like she has an adams apple @ 1:28

  • @ste893 powerful throat muscles/voice box that enables her to sing so well.

  • @dhucke4assembly oh yeah she's a hottie! it just was what I saw and had to comment
