  • holy Sh*T look at that big rack of stuff he has behind him

  • I love the groove of this song

  • It's amazing how much this guy was sidelined. He was never as popular as mainstream country (even with his combining heavy Jazz W/ bluegrass at times...and also Celtic folk sound). A shame really. 1/2 the people out there, STILL have never heard of this guy.

  • @BarnacleBillsBastard He doesn't have any stage presence. Maybe if he dropped the I don't care look and at least dressed half as well as he plays, then more sheeples would know about him.

  • @TallVape Who gives a shit about stage presence?

  • @BarnacleBillsBastard in Spain 1/100, really a shame

  • these guys are the best. I love what they do

  • NICE music !!!!!

  • banjo was brought ovr with the slaves from Africa.

  • Comment removed

  • The banjo actually has African roots...

  • Ridiculous. Wish we had the full vid.

  • nobody else can play the banjo as good as this guy!

  • @HillBillyHickTrick what about the little retarded boy from deliverance? Yeah, you forgot about him didn't ya? haha

  • I wish someone would post the version from the Live Art DVD. Stuart Duncan completely shreds the fiddle on that track. I would love to see it.

  • I dont think there is a DVD, I have been looking for one for about ten years now. It is BY FAR my favorite album.

  • Sam Bush Played this song on the Live Art track, not Stuart Duncan

  • And boy did he play it

  • WICKED

  • this song made me realize how beautiful a banjo can be

  • Indeed, I don't care if it's hillbilly, it's one of the most beautiful instruments on the planet.

  • is that an acoustic/electric bass vic is playing???

  • acoustic

  • no...it's acoustic/electric, it has a cord hanging out the back.

  • @tdawgheath I don't consider it electric just because you can plug it in. If the sound is made acoustically rather than through pickups, it's still acoustic. To me, anyways.

  • i thought he was asking if it was an electric or an acoustic, pardon my oversight

  • e-coustic

  • This was originally written by Bela Fleck, and played with his former band New Grass Revival.

  • The bad quality really irks me with a such a good song.

  • Exceptionnel

  • the banjo sounds so exotic when you are not playing bluegrass

  • Agreed jose044, bluegrass doesn;t do the banjo justice

  • Este tipo es un Grosso!!!

  • 1 of their best songs along with new south africa, big country, and sinister minister

  • the song is "bigfoot". he recorded it with new grass revival and the only flecktones album i know its on is "live art"

  • thanks for lettingme know the name of the tune its great tune isnt it.

  • yeah, tell futureman how to play, you idiot.

  • the wooden box futureman is playing, unless im wrong, is a typical spanish one which should not be played with a brush cos it limits the number of hits and doesnt give a good sound, in my opinion, he should practice it using hands as many spanish talented percussionists do.

Viva espanya! xD (no tengo la enye en este teclado)

Bela and victor rule though, luv watching the flecktones!

  • That looks like a Cajon, a box drum from Peru. So he doesn't have to play it in a traditional Spanish style. Either way, you can play any instrument any way you like to get the sound you want out of it.

  • incredible musicians like these do not need to play instruments the way "they were meant to be played" or whatever shit you're talking about. let them play however they want, they can smash their instruments for unique sounds if they wanted to. the piano isn't meant to be kicked but brilliant musicians like jamie cullum start kicking it and punching and just making music all the more broad and ever expanding.

  • futureman is nuts

  • /awesome

  • Live art wrecked my social life. I didn't want to leave my stereo.

  • Yeah its on an album LIVE ART. Its really good you should pick it up

  • i think this is one of their best songs and it's not on an album?

  • ive got it but its on an old tape that i play in my car its very old tune of belas

  • Bela Fleck and the Flectones is one of these bands thats always on the cutting edge of something new. These guys are always pushing the envelope of creativity and they seem to be in a constant state of musical evolution.

  • i love Bela Fleck and the flecktones,i have a picture with them, but i like very much too Yoger(geoxtigma) play metal and fusion.

  • i know that this song is on the album "live art" but is it on any other flecktones (or just bela fleck) album?

  • bela fleck has loads of early albums" drive "being one of the best and others cant remember name off hand will have to go and have a look this tune is one of his early ones

  • It's not from "Drive." It's called "Bigfoot", and was recorded on NGR's "Friday Night In America" album.

  • i stand corrected it is on live art as well apparently someone else has said thanks for that

  • Right you are. I'd forgotten it was on Live Art, even though I listen to it at least once a week.

  • It is not pronounced "Bella" it is like Bey-La

  • very talented

  • It's like shred banjo.

  • ¡Viva el cajón Peruano!

    ¡CARAJO!

  • There are many versions of "Bigfoot" available on archive dot org as well as about 300 complete Flecktones performances...all legal and with the band's permission

  • check out how many shows they have, amazing site.

  • The Flecktones are not from this planet. Inovators they are.

  • you shouldsee them live. they are so intence. i saw them touring thenew album. futureman and jeff have gotten so much better, and i didn't think they could get much better. love the flecktones.

  • anyone seen the one with the chinese guy who sings two notes at once? is that one on youtube anywhere?

  • ya.. look for a song called "a moment so close"

  • Perhaps someone could explain this to me? The one guy is playing an acoustic bass, and Bela is playing a banjo of course... but wtf? is that other guy playing a box? i am so confused...

  • ...gues Futch likes to think out of the box...

  • explain ? bela fleck is just one of the best banjo's player in the world and victor wooten one of the best bass player's in the world. They play together with future's man in the band bela fleck and the flecktones... that's all. they're such amazing... If you like this you've got to see there live recording live at the Quick

  • and don't forget the fabulous mr. Jeff Coffin on Sax

  • The "box" is a standard percussion instrument in flamenco music.

  • easily the best banjo I have ever heard. It almost makes me want to pick up banjo. And wooten is a superb bass player. Futureman's got some interesting percussions going; he is very interesting musician. He almost makes me laugh (in a posative way of course)

  • yo no tengo entrada T____T

pensar que ahora estan tocando estos maestros

y yo viendo sus videos en youtube

    Nekro

    después me cuentas como estubo

    seguro será una gran experiencia

    Saludos

    Bye!

  • No vocals. Too much fast tempo obnoxious banjo jamming...Not my cup of tea. But, "Hey", enjoyyyyy!

  • Yeah, and who cares? If you understood music, you would not be able to help but at least appreciate this for the amazing musical talent. This is not a "Jam" this is a written song and his cadences are amazing. I take it you don't like classical or jazz either =/

  • 22 De MarZo DeL 2007, Aka en SanTiaGo ChiLe, TeATrO TeLeTon,

    Ya TenGo Mi EntraDa!!

    ;)

  • Bigfoot is an awesome tune! Love these guys.

  • wonderful musicians all of them.

  • Is there a better banjo player, really? For that matter, is there any other musician as relevant as Fleck today? He's got both trophies on his coffee table, folks. He's the real dude.

  • In comparison, he's writing stuff thats equally as creative as some 17th and 18th century composers. And then to add Wooten to the mix is just icing to the cake, ya know?

  • I don't know, his cadences are more 20th century classical, i've never heard this type of structure in 17th or 18th century, maybe 19th. But i get your point and it is well made.

  • he' bloody good, but kermitt the from is better

  • What the fuck does this even mean??

  • I've never seen the movie, but there's a Muppet movie that begins with Kermit the Frog playing Rainbow Connection on banjo.

For some people, this is a very iconic scene, and it is the first thing they think of when they see a banjo.

Recent reference in the American sitcom The Office.

  • Ah! i remember this tune. I had Live Art and lost it ove rth eyears and this was one of my favorite tunes on that set! Thanks for posting!

  • The man is sick.

  • Ah Bela Fleck. Not my exact taste in music, but he is one talented man. And Wooten, he is an AMAZING musician.

  • thanks made my day ;)

  • Bigfoot can be found on the Best of New Grass Revival album (by New Grass Revival, obviously). I don't recall what NGR album it was originally on.

  • Bigfoot was originally released on the New Grass Revival 'Friday Night in America' album in 1989, I think it was the last album they made together as New Grass Revival.

  • Hmm... sounds like I have one or two CDs to buy. :o)

  • This song is called Bigfoot. It wasn't on Drive; I believe the only place it's ever been officially released is on Live Art.

  • Yeah which sucks because its my favorite song but you cant find a studio version anywhere. Tho were lucky enough that they sound like they are in a studio even when they are live.

  • These videos are great, thanks for sharing!
