The most underrated game I've played this millennium, and I play lots. This is the only game that even comes close to capturing Star Control 2's magic. It's a shame there won't be a sequel, because greatness was just around the corner with a little more tweaking and polish.

they should have made it first person during the spaceflight, I still think it is good, better than Spaceforce or other first person sims that don't have the other things, even the text diplomat/trade/prison missions are fun I don't have a problem with that.

1) To say the PC game market is oversaturated is a massive understatement. There are probably millions of games, ranging from flash on the internet to big-budget games.

2) Space games are a niche market. If it doesn't have the words 'star' and 'wars', it's going to sell even less.

3) It was made and published by small, foreign companies. Games of this type will never sell especially well without the budget for an advertising game.

4) The..

...space genre of gaming has plenty of games, but they all basically do the same thing. Space games are always either shooting games or massively biased toward trading. A heck of a lot of trading. So it becomes even harder to stand out.

Considering this game fits all 4 categories, it stands no chance whatsoever of getting the recognition of, say, Modern Warfare, a game which takes advantage of multiple fads (chavvy style, foreigners are bad. army men are heroes, shoot everything etc.).

There is probably hundreds of games that i would like but have never heard of. For instance i had never even heard of Diablo 2 but when i bought i just kept on playing until it got really boring. Mostly because i knew where everything was an so on. what comes to star wars... the games got the popularity completely because of the movies, not that they're bad movies.

@Oscy Basically,it's my position that MW and the like are as popular as they are because of heavy advertising and nothing else. They offer little or no substance, they requires no thought.It's like an empty-headed bikini model.They have a player range from the child to the immature adult. I'm sure that 1C could promote it's games as heavily and therefore be as largely recognized but then we'd be paying $60 for a pile of junk so 1C can cover it's expenses.

@stnwllstv There's no way in hell 1C has the money and contacts on the same level as Activision and Square Enix, not even close. That's not a slight, just a fact because Activision and Square Enix are huge and have a long history, 1C is just another company.

Marketing and advertising is 90%, but you can't make chavs and idiots buy a space, point-and-click strategy game no matter how much you bang on about it or make it look pretty.

That's why CoD fitting in with a lot of fads is relevant.

This is a nice game. The RTS part of the game sucks though. The text- based quests are pretty good, and the overall ship flying stuff is the best. Overall, the game could use a ton of improvements and extra features and replayability, but it still somehow manages to be a great game.

@psinox 2 is much better than 1, it has a lots of new improvements and lots of new options. Also, the turns to end game are not limited, they keep counting until you complete the game. So, if you want this game, I recommend you to get it.

@johnstar145 I is turn based space game with diplomacy, RPG and open world. It has option to have Mechwarrior type RTS games when fighting on planets, it has 'asteroid' type gameplay if you enter a black hole and it has text based multi-choice adventures. You can get hooked on drugs, you have 100's of weapons and armour and ships to play around with, the interface is beautiful and it is a fantastic game! Think a cross between Elite and Sid Meier's Pirates!

this game is wonderful. I have a blast every time I play it. You can do pretty much anything you want, land on any planet you want, become a pirate, hire other ships. Tons of different equipment, missions, there is so much to do, you always have to make different choices, it would take me days to list everything this game has to offer. Reboot addon make this game even better, the only thing i want from this game is a sequel and make tranclucators jump to different stars when told.
