i looked thru one of these at the hodges gardens star party in louisiana. awesome.... the guy also had tele view ethos lenses. yeah. m104 was insain! ghost of jupiter was cool too.
I use a Crown Royal bag for my LightBridge 16's secondary...felt whiskey bottle bag with draw strings...pretty much prefect as is.....I gotta rebuild my LB 16 as a UC. The Meade is a beast to lug arround.
I would like to suggest you could design into the shroud some loops and a fiberglass or some floxable rod to slip through the shroud that wraps around like a halo or a belt through the belt loops of jeans, to keep the shroud from blowing into the V sections of the Truss tubes. It would be very effective, and only add 1 mre flexable light tent style rod to loop through the shroud loops, it would act like an External halo for the OD of the shroud similar to the big one on the bottom. Cheers, IC.
Hey, some folks have that kind of money just sitting there, and they have a hobby. You should see what some of the CCD cams go for that they use in imaging !
Awesome scope but I cannot beleive he did not lay a tarp down before just plopping it down on the dirt like that. If that was my scope, I would have killed someone for putting up in the dirt, lol.
Just awesome and maybe someday the DOB God will shine on me and I can get one.
@Djennings16 Was that a TeleVue the eyepiece he just dropped onto the ground??? I would have killed someone just for putting the TeleVue on the dirt, not to say the telescope!
@acasasc I would hope not and I would have done the same. TeleVue eyepieces and that type of scope does not come cheap, even if you do own the company. What a shame to be so reckless.
great design, good info, but the audio is very distracting... sometimes it is hard to hear what you are saying over the wind rushing by the microphone.
I had a play with that 'actual' telescope the other night (thanks Lachlan), and it certainly is a nice scope. Handles extremely well, and you keep forgetting it's an 18", since it really is so compact. Setup was a breeze... Cheers - Rob
Damn, just dropped the Nagler like it was nothing.

I have an older 12.5" mirror from galaxy optics and it is fantastic. I would like to get a more compact 18" soon.

Yeah, me too. I'd like an 18" UC, due to it's wonderfully compact design and ease of portability/storage.

That is a nice and sweet 18" Obsession, and I wondered how you put that fabric on,that is so easy!

Dave,
It's cool to see the final design. Wow, very nice!
I got my 15" Obsession a few years ago. The views have been wonderful.
