From dis-summering, dis-dawn, know love to all, We now sharing

Just concrete & clay, known now as the way it's meant to be ( I as two, only.. )

    Non-purple shades this dis-ceivince, deceiving

All dis-shadow now in arms, so dis-tender, and with my sidewalks you has crumbled payed,

  • thats the best cover album there from martin plaza i like it

  • To the 7 people that disliked (and any others that may also dislike) this track, go put on some cement shoes and go for a swim in the Murray River :)

  • you're listening to OUZE:FM.. listen while you post!!!!

  • Ive been looking for this old fave for years. Thankyou

  • Mid 80s mullets are the best.

  • Este artista es un desconocido para Bolivia, no sé si en Sudamérica habrá gustado. Martin Plaza, rarísimo. saludos desde La Paz

  • Scary, Martin, scary.

  • I love the smoothness of this version and 80's hair! Classic Mullett! I'd do anything to bring back (these) the good times. Best era ever. An Aussie Beach, Freedom and Zinc Cream ... Fluro of course!! :))

  • Holy crap, I remember listening to this on Rage when I was a kid! WOW this brings back memories! Great Track, Great Artists :) AUSSIE AUSSIE AUSSIE!!! :)

  • @RockabillyAnt oh yeah!!!!! Memories galore!!

  • this song always shat me

  • see Mentals live in Vietnam on my channel

  • Great song and this is an OKAY re-make of it but, sadly, it DOES NOT improve on the original and that's what a remake should do....pay tribute to the song and improve on it. The premise of the video and the set, etc...are all pretty cheesy...but, otherwise. Like the way Martin did it...just wish it would have been better.

  • good version of a great song

  • Great cover version-typical 80's pop-good job by Martin

  • Very, Very Coool Song!!! 5*s Love This One Alot!!! Thank You....Anita..

  • hehe. As a kid I thought it was "the cyborgs in the street." Wow what an image that painted!..lol

  • and for a moment I heard, "the zombies in the clay!"

  • Oh no!! Not the cyborgs in the street!!!

  • again another rare flashback to childhood.. wow!

  • Randall Flagg, aka the Walkin Dude, never sounded better.

  • Hello Lloyd.........

  • Great song of the 80s, havent heard it in such a long time.

  • Marty, Marty, Marty - absolutely love the song, first time I've seen the video - very corny!!!

  • Great mullett Marty Boy !!!!!

still fashionable in the US I believe

  • Not as good as Iva Davies though. Check out Electric Blue from Icehouse. Nice example of mid 80s pop, regardless.

  • Ummmm.....more like Adelaide!!!

  • You to me, are sweet as roses in the morning

You to me, are soft as summer rain and all the love we share, that something rare

The sidewalks and the streets, the concrete and the clay beneath my feet begin to crumble, as love will never die,

Cause we'll see the mountains tumble, before we say goodbye, my love and I will be, in love eternally, Thats the way, the way its meant to be

All around I see the purple shade of evening, and on the ground the shadows fall and once again youre in my arms

  • What a flashback....whatever happened 2 him?

  • Mental as Anything are still playing... I catch them everytime they come to Canberra.... This is my favourite songs of Martin Plaza, thanks for posting... I've checked itunes and they dont have this song...

  • Like the garish bright colours of the 1986 video, better than the musical rendering. Which can never ever be better, than the original UK, 1965 Unit 4+2 version.

  • Sweet as roses in the morning, thats the way its meant to be the sidewalks in the street. the "concrete and the clay beneath my feet . Thats the weay its meant to be,

  • Groovy 1986, thats the way its meant to be, before we say goodbye.

  • The drum sounds like someone thrashing a wet cardboard box with a ping-pong bat. The best version is Kevin Rowland 1999.

  • TOTALLY AGREE

  • By Far the best version is that of the original by Unit 4+2. It has been my favourite song since I was 8 years old.

  • Lovely version

  • I know the Tommy Moeller (who wrote this song) quite well. It's always good to hear the Mentals do it. Cliff Richard did it too. And Tom told me it's been covered over 100 times.

  • great song, horrid version. randy is best :)

  • OMG Randy's version is BEST?! You must be joking with that utterly tacky, over the top orchestration it got and the totally flat, souless vocal delivery Randy gave it.

Unit 4+2's version has a stunning arrangement and a passionate, well-paced vocal performance that makes the song a real classic. Actually, I've seen Martin do a really beautiful, slower-paced acoustic version in concert and actually encouraged him to re-record it that way.

  • Randy Edelman....sounds like an american..

  • Actually, the best version of this song is by Randy Edelman..

  • You have to be kidding.....Or DEAF!!!!!!

  • I could only get the "Unit 4 + 2" version off Limewire. But this clip and youtube grabber worked a treat.

  • I've heard Martin do a slower, acoustic version of this classic and it was quite beautiful. My very favourite version remains the classic version by Unit 4+2! :)

  • no095: DITTO DITTO DITTO I remember hearing this song when I was a young un- only once or twice.. and it has stuck in my head forever. Classic

  • sweet.....thanks for posting........the search has ended

  • Great song. Just makes you feel so happy!

  • beautiful voice, catchy song.

  • I'm sitting here dumbfounded... This song has been a 21 year mystery to me. I remember hearing it when I was a kid but hadn't heard it or seen the clip snice then (I was 10!). For some reason it popped in my head to Google it and here it is. Great song. Great memory. I can die knowing there's one more thing I got done :) Unbelieveable.

  • well done, Rareclipz...was lookin 4 this b4 u uploaded...then i checked again today and voila!...good job, mate...this 1 brings back the memories

  • A bit stiff on stage but vocals faultless.

  • Mullet city - did he do the original with unit 4+2?

  • No this was 1 of Matins covers, th other 1 was a Roy Orbison track entitled working for the man, genius

  • I'm pretty sure 'Working For The Man' was a Mental As Anything track, rather than a MP solo effort.

  • No this was Martins solo song frm his album, th Mentals never did Working 4 Th man as 1 of their songs.

  • Mental As Anything DID do a version of 'Working For The Man' back in 1983. It was a hit in Australia.

Maybe Martin Plaza did a version of 'Working For The Man' as well, but I do not remember it and right now, I'm too lazy to go to my loft and check on my copy of 'Plaza Suite' album.

  • they did do i cover of it ive heard the song and seen the vid

  • I stand corrected it was a Mentals cover. I was mental @ th time, thanks.

  • I love this solo effort of his

  • How cool is Martin Plaza's voice!!

  • Arhhh.....the memories.

  • where's 'Mental As Anythings' (a band Martin was in) 'Lets go to Paradise'? It was up and now it's gone again. copyright sucks asses

  • Very cool version - I remember it years ago because I was trying to videotape Cliff Richard & the young ones on an old Australian TV show called "Trax" (or "tracks?"). This was on the show and I grew to like it - but lost it when the tape stuffed up. Thanks heaps!

  • Never heard this before. "Concrete and Clay" hit No. 1 in the UK, #28 US. A competing version by Eddie Rambeau also charted.

  • This version was released in the UK but failed to have any chart success. Did quite well in Australia though.

  • Unit Four Plus Two made a classic, and is by far the best of the three versions.

  • I didn't even know I knew this, but it's all coming flooding back after 20 years. I figured I only knew the original. Very nice.

  • this is like out of guys and dolls

  • Brilliant. I haven't seen that video since it came out. Good stuff..

  • Thank you so much for posting this video, Ive been looking for it for a long time.

    love it,love it .....
