@Caparzoshow Chris Bores is ok but you're right, it's a surprisingly deep movie than I'd expect from Zack Snyder. I actually like all of Snyder's films, yep even Suckerpunch. A film you do need to turn your brain off to enjoy.

"The Watchmen - It's not as bad as Pulp Fiction" Enough said.

I like the film, watched it like 5 times. Great camera work, sets, colors, costumes etc. . BUT, it's still a hundred times better than bamwhamgoodguyswin: revenge of the guy.
im sorry but this review is complete nonsense, i respect your opinion but i felt you kinda missed the boat on this movie. The graphic novel was ten times better, but the movie it self was great, not perfect, but pretty well told compared to what the original plot was. Its a comic book that cant be made, you lose too much important detail. The director tried his best to pack as much in as possible to appease the fans, was it worth it? In my opinion, it was. Hey, some people get it, and some dont.

You're right, it was long, but that's because it had almost everything in the graphic novel. And I do mean that ALMOST everything, they barely left out stuff from the book.

Also, it is said: "I went and (SAW)" Watchmen. Not: "I went and (SEEN) Watchmen.
Three things I learned from watching this review: 1) Chris Bores is totally unfamiliar with the graphic novel on which this was based. 2) Chris Bores just doesn't seem to fully grasp this film or its point. 3) Chris Bores is worse at reviewing films than he is at reviewing video games, and that is really saying something.
Did he say it wasen't as bad as pulp fiction and he called himself a movie director? Pulp fiction is one of the best movies ever made. Full of great dialog, great scenes, great characters, great action. But well everyone know Chris Bores is bad at all of those things. So i can understand him.
Yes, Watchmen does give you a lot to keep track of. All of Alan Moore's stuff does. Honestly, they cut a LOT of stuff out for the movie; I'd say the movie was already reduced to bare bones. Manhattan's flashback didn't occur at the beginning because his origin isn't particularly relevant, the only reason why Moore included it at all is to illustrate the non-linearity of Manhattan's perception of time. I'd rather not launch into a full literary analysis, suffice it to say, they did fine.
Huh? You didn't like Pulp Fiction or was it the mixed up flashbacks? You need to read the comic at least a little to get what's going on. It would've been nice if Chris Nolan made this movie. After all The Dark Knight was the best comic book film ever. Chris, you need to read the book. It makes a lot more sense.
I do agree the blue penis was a bit much for the movie.
I give Watchmen a worth seeing but read the novel first. The movie does follow most of the novel. It is a faithful adaptation but not perfect. The are a few things that could have been cut out *cough* Nite Owl and Silk Spectre "love" scene. I didn't like Pulp Fiction either.
Have you ever read the graphic novel????? Idiot!!!! It was faithful to the book which also contains flash backs, the length of the characters storyline, WTF.
This movie focus toward the Grahpic novel, and those novels are extrem popular, if they hade made to much changes in this movie then the fans of the novels wouldt have enjoy it, in the same way wolverine origins was created after the novel.
@AshLionHeart Don't hold you breath on him replying. He's been trying to hide this fact since his first "review". He will never admit to plagiarizing the AVGN, or any of the others, whom I shall not mention.
Um you know that it's based on a Graphic Novel right? The flashbacks and speeches were in there. And the length was because they tried to add as many things to it as possible so that Watchmen fans wouldn't be upset. I mean, I guess you're looking at it from a ignorant perspective, but whatever.
Also, taking the flash-back scenes and putting them at the start would be a bad idea. Why? Because the plot begins with the Comedian's murder. If you put the flashbacks before that, you have a lot of stuff going on before the actual *plot* starts. Those scenes are for fleshing out the characters and providing perspective on certain events and viewpoints. Also, the nonlinear narrative ties into Dr. Manhattan's monologue, as he experiences time in a nonlinear manner.
There were things that I disliked about the movie, but you have the wrong reasons.
Complaining about the flashbacks and the speeches does not make sense, because those were *in the book* and were vital to the story.
And cutting more out? No. They already cut a good chunk of material from the theatrical cut, including Hollis Mason's death and the "Tales from the Black Freighter." Watchmen was a big book, bigger than a lot of other graphic novels. Of course it's going to be a long movie.
Wow this is the first time I have ever seen the thumbs down bar longer tan the thumbs up bar, and after watching the video review I see why. You obviously don't know what you're talking about, as this movie was great
You can tell he's a bad personality when he says something like that and when he says that he wasn't too bothered by the sight of Dr.Manhattan's balls.
No, you do not understand how complex something like "Watchmen" can be; a film most film critics and comic book aficionados deemed as unfilmable. What exactly have you directed that can even compare to the scope of this film?
After seeing the animated version of the comics, believe me that they did cut out a lot (about two hours) already.
The movie was in pretty much the same order as in the comics, which means back-stories were inserted after a few issues whenever the authors thought them up. Yeah this does end up making the movie a bit disjointed.
Just remember that some of the ending was heavily changed for the movie, such as a certain hero does *not* get the blame for the mess.
I'm surprised you considered this a "Rental" when you considered "X-Men Origins:Wolverine" a must see. We actually saw it in theaters and it was great.
4 Stars for this movie.
Then again it's your opinion and we respect that. (No Offense)
i love how he calls himself a director and sucks ass at movie reviews. Disgracing pulp fiction and saying xmen gets an A++ . . . thats enough I need to make a conclusion. But to each his own I guess
That being said, no one should be forced to read a book before watching a movie to understand it.
If WB marketed it in that way, it'd probably make even less. People just wanna watch a movie, not have to have prior knowledge of it.
I think they should have split the movie into two.
Then they would get it all in and not have it be so long, because face it guys, the every day Joe (like this guy reviewing) didn't expect a superhero flick to have so much talking.
Wow...it's obvious you didn't read the comic book and maybe that's the problem with the movie.
Take out more? The monologues and soliloquies were what MAKES Watchmen. It's not Spiderman, there's a deep story and heavy political, social and philosophical undertones. It's a book you can interpret a million ways, it's incredibly deep.
And you wanted them to take out more? Then what's the point of making the movie?
@legozombie9000 All the characters in Watchmen are based off of other superheroes. The Comedian is based off of Peacemaker, Rorschach is based off of The Question and Mr. A, Ozymandias is based off of Thunderbolt, Dr. Manhattan is based off of Captain Atom, and Nite Owl is based off of Blue Beetle.
This is because initially, those were the characters that were going to be used in the story, being characters DC had just acquired. However, it would've left them unusable, so they made new ones.
Dude you gotta read the comic. It makes more sense wants you read the comic. and if they left anything out then people would have been complaining about all the stuff left out. And it got 3 out of 5 stars so read the comic before you actually review the movie. and you didnt need to look at his balls by the way.
Yeah, except it was based on an extremely explicit graphic novel, and maybe the director didn't wanna piss off hardcore Watchmen fans who have been waiting years for a Watchmen movie.
Shitty review is shitty. This movie followed as close as possible (in my eyes) to the comic book. This was an amazing film. And as for the long speeches: lol wat i dnt want talking moar fighting moar killing dnt give me plot development gimme action.
I think what he's trying to say is that going from flashback to flashback wasn't as bad as pulp fiction.
This is the second review I see of his and in both reviews he says, "Being a film director myself" which is fine. But I would like to see more insight if that's the case. I would like to know in more detail what you would do different. The things mentioned are kind of petty. I'm just saying, that when you say you are a director yourself you have to deliver more than a 3 minute review.
@TehEditor Calling one of the best movies made of our time bad, is idiotic. No one likes this fuckin idiot, and yet he continues to make stupid comments, lies, plagiarize, and insist on being a living troll. I would love to see you kick this guys ass. He deserves one. This guy is a total P.O.S because he knows how many people he's pissing off and he continues to do it. I wish I could bash this guy in the face a couple times and KO him like Mike Tyson's Punch out.
Movies are not simply action moron. If you were a director, you would realize that movies of quality are often long (The Green Mile), and the use of flashbacks, backstories, and long speeches help to build the complexity of the movie and help the viewer do a long lost art called THINKING. The comic book was not simply meant to be another action comic book, but was meant to be intellectually stimulating, as is the movie. You're just another moron pretending to know what you're talking about
@bulaxa no your fucking stupied for thinking he said that Obviously he was talking about the use flashbacks in the two films not how good the movies are.
@jamesnintendofan there's like only one flashback in pulp fiction if i recall, and that is Butch Coolidge's (bruce willis) child memory (the one with christopher walken). the rest is fragmented narrative, not flashbacks...
if you direct films i hope they never get released because after watching a few of your reviews i can say you have very bad taste in films and no idea what makes for a good film.
You don't need to read the novel to love the movie but if you don't like flashbacks or other things you HAVE to read the novel to understand why is made in that way....Bad review
i love this movie. and i found it to be extremely faithful to the graphic novel. and the length of the movie didnt bother me since it went by pretty fast.
who watches the watchmen? i did, and loved every second of it.
Pretty shitty review guy, this is just your opinion of the film and the subject matter not a review.
You didn't mention anything about the acting or special effects, did the movie have a good ending, was it slow or fast paced that kinda shit.
Aside from this"review" not being a "review", your only major gripes with the film is how accurate it was to the novel. These films are usually reviewed by the fans of the source material, not guys like you.
You didnt bother to read the graphic novel before going to see the movie. If it was edited to the extent that you mentioned, it wouldnt have had anything to do with watchmen and would have ruined the entire point of the novel that its based on. Next time check your facts before you review something.
Just ok? What the hell? Read the book dummy. If they edited an hour out of it, it wouldnt make any sense. And it wasn't anywhere near hard to follow. The movie moved like the book did. It was epic. It told a brilliant classic story. Read something besides mainstream Marvel and DC title dude. Terrible review.
there isn't one thing I would take out of this movie. Every bit of character development had a purpose in the end, and made the ending that much more powerful, and
Was the comic book made by DC or Marvel?

I've gotta disagree, I'm amazed Snyder didn't make it a 90 minute action fest. Maybe you need to have read the book. The end is completely different.

This movie focus toward the Grahpic novel, and those novels are extrem popular, if they hade made to much changes in this movie then the fans of the novels wouldt have enjoy it, in the same way wolverine origins was created after the novel.
Also Pulp Fiction has been on top 100 on imdb,

Um you know that it's based on a Graphic Novel right? The flashbacks and speeches were in there. And the length was because they tried to add as many things to it as possible so that Watchmen fans wouldn't be upset. I mean, I guess you're looking at it from a ignorant perspective, but whatever.
mrslash11 1 year ago
@mrslash11 There are fans of the novel that didn't like this movie.

Wow.... Wolverine origins was awesome and Watchmen was just ok? Stick to reviewing games bud. Movies are not your strong suit.
CaseUtubeMan 1 year ago
There's only one scene I didn't like in the movie.
"I love him."
"He raped you!"
"You were born from that."
"I understand and I forgive you. I like him now."
What bullshit!
r0bw00d 1 year ago
Also, taking the flash-back scenes and putting them at the start would be a bad idea. Why? Because the plot begins with the Comedian's murder. If you put the flashbacks before that, you have a lot of stuff going on before the actual *plot* starts. Those scenes are for fleshing out the characters and providing perspective on certain events and viewpoints. Also, the nonlinear narrative ties into Dr. Manhattan's monologue, as he experiences time in a nonlinear manner.

pulp fiction and watchmen might be two of the greatest stories of all time.
jeded73 1 year ago
There were things that I disliked about the movie, but you have the wrong reasons.
Complaining about the flashbacks and the speeches does not make sense, because those were *in the book* and were vital to the story.
And cutting more out? No. They already cut a good chunk of material from the theatrical cut, including Hollis Mason's death and the "Tales from the Black Freighter." Watchmen was a big book, bigger than a lot of other graphic novels. Of course it's going to be a long movie.

No, you do not understand how complex something like "Watchmen" can be; a film most film critics and comic book aficionados deemed as unfilmable. What exactly have you directed that can even compare to the scope of this film?

Citrus3000 1 year ago
After seeing the animated version of the comics, believe me that they did cut out a lot (about two hours) already.
The movie was in pretty much the same order as in the comics, which means back-stories were inserted after a few issues whenever the authors thought them up. Yeah this does end up making the movie a bit disjointed.
Just remember that some of the ending was heavily changed for the movie, such as a certain hero does *not* get the blame for the mess.

U have to read the novel. The movie would have been alot longer if they put more of the main stuff in it

The long speeches you were bored by are called DIALOGUE.
And you said because of dialogue, it kept sidetracking from the main plot.
Nonstop action isn't a main plot.
wantsomecake328 2 years ago
And I guess thats why you didn't like Pulp Fiction. There wasn't an explosion every five seconds.
PF was driven by story, characters and dialogue, like most great movies are.
You like movies that are driven by nonstop
explosions and car chases.
wantsomecake328 2 years ago
This guy really needs to read the comic book and then he will understand why the movie is like it is.

ok? this movie was great
of course it had its flaws but its the closest to what you can get to the actual source material
and its length?
length doesnt matter
look @ the godfather for example
this is a great movie comparing to the original
i was impressed
this is the closest to what you can get from the graphic novel and this is a stylish, metaphoric, and beautiful

Not as bad as Pulp Fiction?
Um...yeah, I definitely do not believe your a film director. Your reviews are awful...they're always contradicting and stupid.
Even an average film director can review a movie decently...god.
dunnowy123 2 years ago
That being said, no one should be forced to read a book before watching a movie to understand it.
If WB marketed it in that way, it'd probably make even less. People just wanna watch a movie, not have to have prior knowledge of it.
I think they should have split the movie into two.
Then they would get it all in and not have it be so long, because face it guys, the every day Joe (like this guy reviewing) didn't expect a superhero flick to have so much talking.
dunnowy123 2 years ago
Wow...it's obvious you didn't read the comic book and maybe that's the problem with the movie.
Take out more? The monologues and soliloquies were what MAKES Watchmen. It's not Spiderman, there's a deep story and heavy political, social and philosophical undertones. It's a book you can interpret a million ways, it's incredibly deep.
And you wanted them to take out more? Then what's the point of making the movie?
dunnowy123 2 years ago
that guy looks to much like batman
legozombie9000 2 years ago
That's the point. Watchmen is supposed to be a deconstruction/satire of superheroes. He looks like Batman because its making fun of Batman.
CountvonAge 2 years ago
@legozombie9000 All the characters in Watchmen are based off of other superheroes. The Comedian is based off of Peacemaker, Rorschach is based off of The Question and Mr. A, Ozymandias is based off of Thunderbolt, Dr. Manhattan is based off of Captain Atom, and Nite Owl is based off of Blue Beetle.
This is because initially, those were the characters that were going to be used in the story, being characters DC had just acquired. However, it would've left them unusable, so they made new ones.
pannicatack 1 year ago
Are you kidding me? They left a ton of stuff out from the book and you are asking them to leave out even more!?!
TheBucsareawesome1 2 years ago
Dude you gotta read the comic. It makes more sense wants you read the comic. and if they left anything out then people would have been complaining about all the stuff left out. And it got 3 out of 5 stars so read the comic before you actually review the movie. and you didnt need to look at his balls by the way.

not as bad as pulp fiction?! LOL
dust540 2 years ago
I think what he's trying to say is that going from flashback to flashback wasn't as bad as pulp fiction.
This is the second review I see of his and in both reviews he says, "Being a film director myself" which is fine. But I would like to see more insight if that's the case. I would like to know in more detail what you would do different. The things mentioned are kind of petty. I'm just saying, that when you say you are a director yourself you have to deliver more than a 3 minute review.

DressuOut 2 years ago
dude this guy must wank over AVGN
screwknob 2 years ago
You didnt bother to read the graphic novel before going to see the movie. If it was edited to the extent that you mentioned, it wouldnt have had anything to do with watchmen and would have ruined the entire point of the novel that its based on. Next time check your facts before you review something.

Just ok? What the hell? Read the book dummy. If they edited an hour out of it, it wouldnt make any sense. And it wasn't anywhere near hard to follow. The movie moved like the book did. It was epic. It told a brilliant classic story. Read something besides mainstream Marvel and DC title dude. Terrible review.
funkysnoogans 2 years ago
there isn't one thing I would take out of this movie. Every bit of character development had a purpose in the end, and made the ending that much more powerful, and
