  • Canibus is to ill for his own good.

  • Canibus is not even from Earth... did ya know that? lol

  • no no noooo! they cant be putting advertisements on a can-i-bus riddem!

  • /watch?v=HAO8nq9kbck

  • This guy is not a rapper ...he is a poet.

And I dont mean that spoken word faddish rubbish... I mean like Homer, Shakespeare and Wordsworth.

He should leave hip hop where the audience cannot properly appreciate him and be marketed as a poet. I actually saw someone in a vid who claims to be a critic complaining that his beats were not good enough. What a joke.

.. he should also make sure to write his stuff down proplerly.

  • What an awesome sequel! Just when we thought things couldn't get more intelligent than this. I wish I could have made it to do my set at this SF Canibus show, but someone fucked that up for me and I was pissed.

  • @q7spiz It is intelligent. I think I just heard some mention of Hume's undermining himself.

    Ency-flow-pedia Rap-tannica. : )

  • Can somebody...ANYBODY tell me what was the sample for the 2nd beat on this song?? Did stoupe create that himself??

  • Alot of cats slept on this one.

  • this is the greatest rap song of all time

  • canibus in top form on this song

  • 4:50 Fela Kuti - Mr. Grammarticalogylisationalism Is the Boss

  • anyone know what the second beat is called?

  • Say what you want about bis say ouy don't like his music , his voice whatever ...but you can't deny his skills.

  • Best hiphop joint of all time (lyrically)

  • Canibus is a beast and one of the best to bless the mic. Even though I have this song, I had to post it to FB just so people can hear what real Hip-Hop is. It's a shame radio can't play something like this.

  • fuckin awful quality

  • Canibus is a rap ninja

  • Greatness!

  • This is too good.

  • This song is just too ill....

  • Will somebody PLEASE explain to me why Can-I-Bust isn't all over the radio, all over TV. Canibus could single handed make people from different genres pay attention and see that Hip-Hop is not only what the main stream TV shows us.

  • @BIGFREDCSA because he didn't sell out, simple

  • even if you aren't a cani fan man....take ur hat off and salute this guy he puts in work

  • @Oreillyisthebest I salute him, he's brilliant :)

  • "A wise man see's failure as progress...."

    truer words were never spoken

  • this is like eminem's hardest rival

  • This has to be the best song i've heard. It gets better every time.

He doesn't even have a hook! has that ever even been done before? spitting for 7 minutes, and not talking about killing, fucking or drugs?

  • @pastordisastor actually he mentioned sex and drugs multiple times. "Smoked canary outa cigars. beautiful asian broads, my names canibus but i cant help you if you need a dub, holla at some big booty bitches." he didnt do it ina derogatory manner except for the bitches part though

  • @OfficiallyMOB thats true!

  • @goodcitymusic indeed. still one of the greatest marathon songs ever though

  • @pastordisastor : W00t ? And what about those beautiful asian broads ? Ok. I Failed, he didn't use the fornication under kin consentment word but only did evocated it. xD.

  • @pastordisastor the whole poet laureate infinity runs around 50 minutes comnined modularized rhymes, that's something I hadn't seen from any artist of these times. Rip's been stimulating my Cortex slightly below a year, definitely earned the title of mystic, greatest rapper you'll ever hear.

  • @pastordisastor Ras Kass did it before.

    Nature of the Threat.

  • @pastordisastor yea, check out a track called "The Warning" by a artist named "Sullee J" straight flow

  • Lyrics best i've ever heard surpass of Rakim's stuff. One of the reason hiphop is the way it is cos very little have heard of Canibus

  • CANIBUS is so ill.... I like the orig on Miccub better... but all are crazy ill!

  • does anyone kno where the 3rd beat comes from..like the trumpet sample?

    it sounds so dope haaa

  • Go to the site i linked to, and ask there.

  • @boombox602 Fela Kuti - 'Mr. Grammarticalogylisationalism Is the Boss'; a famous Nigerian musician who's just as globally influential as Bob Marley.

  • @boombox602 The sample for the third beat is "Mr Grammarticologylisationalism is the Boss" by Fela Kuti.

  • this is an amazing rhyme been listening to it for years and it never gets old. He wrote it without beat, sent it to stoupe and they created an unbelievable duo on this song. Both talents are heard

  • canibus is a motherfuckin' beast nigga...straight up

  • dope

  • nature of the threat by ras kass?

  • Nature of the Threat is truth regardless. The song has his emotions in it (Racism), but what he says is mainly true. History is more of an art because its open to interpretation due to its biased nature.

  • so because he sees history (that his been written and taught for the most part by anglos) different than others, his point of view is racist?

  • how is it blantant racism? most (not all) of the sutff he talks about is common knowledge of history.

  • ye it's kinda racist but he spits also facts tho

  • papoose fell off years ago

  • @MrWeez2009 That's funny, I was thinkin about Papoose, he was ill. Too bad

  • Nature Of The Threat & Poet Laureate II

are the most lyrical songs EVER.

  • Canibus is just raw nobody can come close to him thats why they blacklisted him out of hip hop

  • lyrically, canibus is the best EVER to do it

  • Visit the site mahninja

  • this guys insane !! this ant no soulja boy tell em fuckk someone do it like this boyy here he knows how to mix it up and rap shit out like no other !! second verse is deep!

  • One of the illest songs in hip hop, nothing else needs to be said.

  • Euphemisms are misunderstood as mistakes,

but it's a by-product of the ghetto music we make,

from a extroverted point of view I think it's too late,

Hip Hop has never been the same since 88,

since it became a lucrative profession,

there's a misconception that movement in any direction is progression,

even though the potency of it lessens,

big money industries writing cheques to surpress the question

  • Why would i argue with my own conscience over the truth? That's like me telling myself "don't tell me what to do!".

  • Naw yo listen to a few rhymes b4 that one. Canibus says "I stay in the lab" and then he said the names of great scientist yo he iz ill.

  • No arguments here. I've listened to that track hundreds of times and I keep coming away with further insight into the intricacies of his rhyme and meaning. No one has ever come close to what 'bis has done, which is challenge the listener. How many MC's do you need to grab a dictionary for damn near ever track? From Master Thesis, "The highest professorship, my English etiquette

compels me to not say it if I can't spell it bitch".

  • where's that sample from? and who is that speaking?

  • James Dickey

  • one day he said all eyes would be on me,

till i looked up in the sky and saw the Neon C

    fuckin ridiculous.

made me think of the Hercules cartoon where he finally becomes a hero and the stars form his image.

  • Yeah ..Gotta Show Mad Love to Canibus

He has more lyrical skill..nah fuck that he has raw talent and he's on a higher consciousness that alot of people are not able to elevate too..

    ILL TRK

  • hot :) like whole lp

    rip da jacker .... xD

  • his flow is official.

  • someone need to do a tribute song to canibus when his career comes to an end because he truly a diamond in the hip hop community.

  • best and most complex song on the face of this earth, Canibus is of a high scholarly level.

  • Canibus is the illest.

  • He was poet laureate of his time.

  • why's this sound like it's coming out of a answering machine. this joint deserves more justice than that.

  • "rabid mast if collaborative"

Honestly, I'm not so sure about what he's saying here.

"splatter bachelor fabric" = Vomiting episode.

"Fatter, with Cabbage Patch lid" = Some models of the Cabbage Patch Kids toy line were known to eat ANYTHING outside the intended plastic toys that were sold with them, such as children's fingers and hair.

    ***

Aesop is not impossible to understand: You just have to invest in his lyrics and learn to think at a higher level. Aesop has internalized the world.

  • Okay, a mastiff is a breed of dog, apparently. Did not know this. That makes it things a bit clearer.

"rabid mastiff collaborative splatter bachelor fabric"

A group of drug induced individuals having a collective vomiting episode.

  • well i now a rabid dog is a crazy dog, or one that is out of its mind.

  • who are you guys talking about???

  • Aesop Rock.

Check out "Diabolical Fun Remix" for a fun introduction to him. His verse is towards the end.

    -Kye

  • I just listend to the Aesop Rock Pac-man song.Honestly I dont see how someone can say he is better that Bis.Bis isnt even my favorite rapper, but Aesop's flow is kinda bad. Also the way he strings words together is a gimmick.Anyone can do that and loosely connect several normally non related things.C of Tranquility is a song by Canibus that has deep subject matter and concepts for he person that said all Canibus does is brag.

  • ""Inorganic pat on back. trim the panic flat on backer. Back to back like Mad Hatter magic rabid mastiff collaborative splatter bachelor fabric fatter with Cabbage Patch lit."

    What does that mean???

That literally sounds like jibberish. I was listening to aesop for a while. I like the night light day light son, but i stopped listening to him because some stuff was just too weird and impossible to understnd. I guess you understand what that verse means above but his stuff is just too weird.

  • The responses you've gotten only illustrate the level of ignorance the general hip hop community has not only when it comes to Aesop, but to abstract expression in general.

    First, the lyrics are off:

"Inorganic pat on back/ Trim the panic, flat on back/ Back to back like mad hatter magics, rabid mast if collaborative/ Splatter bachelor fabric, fatter, with Cabbage Patch lid/"

  • So he's using code to disguise mediocre content. Whoop dee doo. Aesop aint that dope. He is good 2listen to sumtimes while your blown tho just cuz of his weirdness. Other than that who feels like deciphering all that for a small payoff?

  • Poetkill:

"Using code"? That's a shame, and pretty much epitomizes the unthinking populace that accepts the garbage on the radio that pretends to represent hip hop culture.

Aesop is the definition of abstract expression. If you can't appreciate abstract, that's okay, but realize BY DEFINITION of the word "abstract", you're forced to think on a higher plane. Furthermore, Aesop's lyrics are highly personal and full of emotion, requiring an investment from the listener.

  • That investment is what makes Aesop so endearing and rewarding to listen to. He's a stimulant. His round-about way of expressing both complexed and simple ideas rewards the listeners dedication to him. I can honestly say Aesop Rock has has had a profound effect on the way I see the world and the amount of knowledge I've obtained over the last few years. When an artist references everything from pop-culture centuries old literature in obscure fashion, you're forced to learn a thing or two.

  • Testing

  • "Back to back like Mad Hatter magic" = Hatters in Louis Carrol's time (the author of the Alice in Wonderland story) often suffered from mercury poisoning due to manufacturing processes that drove them delirious. This is often cited as the inspiration for the Mad Hatter character. Aesop is relating his consistent drug use to the character's consistent on display insanity.

  • I responded to this post, but for some reason it never bumped it.

    -Kyw

  • Stoupe is Magnificent.

  • For context: this track is essentially Aesop recalling summer full of drug usage (LSD) and its ramifications.

    "Inorganic pat on back"

Inorganic = fake. This image is essentially Ace's recognition of false/half-assed attempts at help from others after a bad trip.

"Trim the panic, flat on back" ="Trim the panic" is a creative way of saying he's calming down.

  • this dude is cold as hell so i had to chop n screw his music, hopefully i can turn on more people in h town to canibus, check it out... watch?v=UYctd5NW3FI

  • you forgot the rest of the verse... "5 multiplied by 4 by 3 by 2 then one. Go ahead and calculate the sum"... Calculate the sum and relate it back and tell me he aint the shizzle...

  • i was pretty sure that the word "sum" was specifically the answer to a math problem that had to do with adding only...

  • Multiplication is just a series of additions... if you didn't know

  • in multiplication, the result is called a product.

  • no shit

  • Your almost right... just flip the first and second place..

  • canibus sends the most concrete, complex, knowledgable, lyrical, and visual message of any artist ever.........canibus fan or not. even hip hop scholars say it

  • in my opinion canibus isn't with the best rappers ever, hes with the best artists and music artists ever. oh yeah and no one even aesop have any idea wut hes is saying, canibus makes sense unlike the "splatter bachelor" no hate. i cant see how you even compared aesop to canibus for real. canibus is way out of any rappers league that ever lived and will ever lived and thats not an opinion.

  • i dont get how anyone can hate on canibus. the man is a beast. i dare anyone to battle him now. fuck LL and aesop compared to cani. Very few could even compare to his wordplay.

  • Ive listened to this CD front to back so many times.

BUS is one of the best.

  • canibus is the best fuck new em and LL fool gay

  • .........

  • This isnt a battle rap mate. Its about a highly talented dude who gets played wrong by the game and never fulfils his potential (canibus).

'He was the illest alive but nobody would face it

he spit till his toungue was too torched to taste it'

explain 2 me Aesops lyrics u posted pls. u cant coz they dnt mk sense and neva do half the time; jus random thoughts with no real direction. besides this song is 300 bars with no lyrical flaws n countles gems of thought and wordplay. Bis = 1 of da GOATs

  • Without even beggining to touch on the depth of those bars, look at the consonance that Aes employs here. They aren't even random thoughts, you don't understand them because you can't think abstractly. The inorganic pat on back is the creativity acid brings about, so hate on this:

Lazy summer days, Like some decrepit land shark dumb luck squad dog lurk sicker diluted. Last sturdy domino lean secluded. Don't let stupid delusions lessen super-duty labor students dragnet lifer solutions.

  • Iam not hating on Aes he got sum v.good tracks like No City and Pigs and he a good producer but he does talk allota crap. lol, the inorganic pat on the back isnt bout creativity; its about the false sence of happinness u get from drugs (the high). The above verse u gave is a perfect example of going round in circles jus 2 say a simple point. Rather than making simple points complicated I (personaly) would prefer he discuss deeper thoughts in a coherent manner like Canibus does. peace

  • None Shall Pass blows son, listen to real

Aes before he got soft and moved outta nyc. Where do people get off thinking Aesop is jibberish, he doesn't just throw words together that rhyme, hence the whole point of sentence structure. His subject matter is infinitly deaper than bis's conceited "fuck you, here's why; I'm the shit, here's why" for 300 bars of same ol same ol. And by coherent, you mean words and structure you can understand. Anti-intellectualism is what you're calling for.

  • lol, I dnt appreciate being told what i'am calling for, particulary when its 'Anti-intellectualism'. You have ur opinion; i have mine. for me aes just doesn't sound nice and his sentence structure is awful at times. so stop being arrogenat thinkin i dont 'understand' aeso. besides this is bout Canibus and PL 2 so go watch Aeso and relax.

  • now i know u didn't actually listen to this song. yes aesop is nice. i can see your a devoted fan but to say 300 bars same ol same ol.. you are just hating on cani to make aesop seem deeper? unfortunately aesop sounds more like he was hitting a crack pipe while writing.. cani sounds like he was reading the entire library while smoking some of the best weed ever grown... you have no arguement or maybe no ears?

  • Thats the problem, his rhymes are too abstract. the direct, 'concrete' message that u speak of is hidden, if its there as well. while his wording may not be totally random, if Acid is his muse, the random drug induced hallucinations are quit tangible in his rhymes. While word play is at work here, this guy weill reach an even smaller audience then Canibus due to his 'parables'

  • I was thinking the inorganic pat on the back was a allusion to technology or something. Like some i robot type of stuff, saying technology is a blessing or something. Aesop has some lines that i can pick up but if he writes his rhymes through thoughts or phrases that he connects to eachpther in HIS own mind it is truly impossible to decipher his music. If he draws lines to phrases inhis mind and uses them in a rhyme it is literally impossible for you to fighure out what he was thinking.

  • Greatest song of all time

  • Your Goddamn right, kid!!! The way this rolls on and the beat switches up, and--Oh, man this song is nuts!!!!

  • its not so bad theres alot of good artists out there right now you just gota dig my man, even in the south theres jay electronica and cunninlynguists keepin it real down there.

  • cunninlynguists r pretty weak

  • this is it. this is the hip-hop song that i always pause and think after listening cos i know that no other song in it's genre would ever be able to measure up to it and would be a disappointment.

  • I agree. Hip hop is in a sad state these days, when only a select few actually make real music any more

  • I'm feelin' that. Real Hip-hop to its core.

  • song is 9 minutes long, how many rappers these days can do that? Not many.

    Canibus is a genius!

  • I memorized this song. This song is classic. Rip the Jacker and Mic Club were his best albums hands down.

"A wise man sees failure as progress. A fool divorces his knowledge and misses the logic. And loses his soul in the process. Obsessed with nonsense with a caricature that has no content."

  • and 2000 BC
