  • HE'S TOO SWEAT FOR THAT LITTLE CHURCH OR CHOIR WHATEVER

  • Oh he's good but there r some things he needs to fine tune. Not only timing but crispness. Don't just let ur stick make contact with the hi hat. U gotta make it crisp.

  • He seems to off. At one point he's dragging then his fills are not on time

  • this guy isn't off beat... either u can't feel triplets at all or u don't have any sense of rhythm/groove

  • according to the description i thought the dude was gonna fart

  • this dude cranks

  • Anyone who knows me know that I really don't like religious music...at all. But as a musician I give this guy mad props for being as good as he is at the drums.

  • Monsterdrumma is right. the fill was supposed to be on the off beat. it starts on the upbeat rather than the down beat. the tempo is a simple 4/4 and he starts the fill in between the 3rd and 4th beat within that particular measure.

  • i love the way they took this song and did it their own way! it sound better than the normal song to me

  • Sik wit it!

  • He's got grooove

  • I lost at the 1 @ 4:34 anyone else :P

  • 3:35 Awwww yeah is RIGHT....

  • hmmm well hes laid back i give him that but the licks he's doing, don't belong in this song. simple fills go with song. too many complicated licks... like hes squeezing too many hits in one fill lol

  • @rashawn891 i agree with you but gospel drummers tend to do that, they like to show off when praising! good tho he has chops! u cant get that mistaken!

  • Well, the name of the church is All Nations House of Prayer in Hopkinsville, KY! And im the not so good drummer in the clip. Be blessed guys!!!

  • whats this song called?

  • @bballenboi23 Victory Chant (Hail Jesus) by Donnie McClurkin.

  • The organist is killin

  • Great Drummer + Sexy Set = Replay Button Rape

  • Thats Dat New York Style Drumming I Live Off Hearing and doing

  • Comment removed

  • I been have this question for the longest.. what is the machine gospel drummers use and it like keeps the beat??

  • @komodo24able The common name for it is an MPC.

  • @ocdp27 Thnks so much..

  • @komodo24able

nice playing dude and what type of church is that

  • @komodo24able Yup

  • song is called Victory chant. Many different variants of the song...

  • thenoblequran (Ctrl+Enter)

  • wat kind of cymbals are those

  • @tavonentertainment look like zildjian A customs

  • Awesome! Where was this video taken?

  • good job

  • NICE GROOVE :)

  • This song sounds awesome! where can I get a copy of the entire song... with those singers?

  • Great... thanks for the inspiration... Greetings from germany

  • Can someone tell me what kinda snare that is? Thnx! :-)

  • @randysign WHATS UP DOC. ITS A GRETSCH 10PLY MAPLE SNARE. 12X6.5. I DONT HAVE IT ANYMORE. ITS A GREAT SNARE. I NOW HAVE A PEARL 13X9 MAPLE SNARE. ITS A MONSTER!!!!!!! GOD BLESS BRO!!

  • what kinda snare is that I see a lot of gospel drummers use it and I love the sound my snare at my church is not the best and I want that one.

  • Whats the name of that first crash????? sound good

  • @Ireed12 they look like A Customs

  • gods in control

  • i love how he can come right in on 1 through those crazy fills.

what I don't like is how it is so distracting from the song. i know if I was in that service trying to worship, i would lose my focus from God and be focused on what just happened on the drums. I think when playing music for God like that, you need to remember you are an instrument of God, and need to help facilitate worship.

but then again, he may just be playing with a track and goofin around, in that case way to go!

  • 1.40 brother got hit by the spirit!!!! your sick brother!!! keep doin yo thang!!!!!! god blesss

  • damn I love how deep that snare is. gives a beautiful sound.

  • I love the backtrack you're playing along with. That song is hella uplifting. What are the lyrics I wonder. and yes agreed, if chops or tricks outdo the regular flow, somethings whacked.

  • HE SUCKS LOL

  • did he call himself a beast at 1:40??? LOL!!!! I guess aint nothin wrong with enjoying yourself killin it.

  • @tyrone31877 actually he said "I'm on beat"

  • @TGBX21 I like my version better. Thanx though!!

  • dude your killin them drums keep playing for god! and whats the name of that song?

  • whats this song man....like da style....sounds like me

  • Those gospels musicians go crazy!

  • fantastic soulful playing, it move me an thats what counts - wonderful triplett feel.

  • OMG i love your style man!! ur awesome

  • mmmm i love this.. blessing from south africa dude, you're amAzing

  • nice pocket

  • he is not focused he keeps on messing with that thing on the side of him.

  • It sounds like one of the Lord's Warriors on traps with the Saints and Angels shouting and cheering of his Lordship's Greatness!

  • nice kit

  • I'm stealing all his licks right now.

    Great playing.

  • weak and lame

  • whats the name oh this song?

  • dude is having fun man and thats what its all about.

  • I guess the big thing is off meter rolls. They are great, but not for EVERY fill!!! I think he JUST learned how to do do this kind of roll, and wanted to practice.

  • whats the name of the song

  • So smooooooth. That organist is ridiculous too!!! Good Stuff bruh!!!

  • I love is pocket!

  • you're pretty good man, really tight playin!!

  • Bro you're an awesome drummer! but.. Bro i mean C'mon! take that hoodie off! You're in church bro! Respect God mate!

  • @iandrummer07 i agree bro but God does say come as you are so i see no problem with that

  • @datmanetre yeah bro but i mean your not going to go into the house of God much less play in a holy place which is the altar with an ear ring or a without a shirt cause its disrespectful! I mean same thing goes to a beanie! Its disrespectful! Anybody with me on this one?

  • @iandrummer07 i feel you bro.much respect to you mane i feel where you comin from.

  • @datmanetre thanks bro

  • @iandrummer07 I DO FEEL WHERE UR COMING FROM. HONESTLY I'VE BEEN IN CHURCH ALL MY LIFE AND OF ALL THE THINGS I KNOW U CAN GO TO HELL FOR, I KNOW I GOD IS NOT GOING TO JUDGE ME THAT HARSHLY FOR WEARING THAT HAT ON MY HEAD AT MY CHURCH FOR THIS REHEARSAL THAN HE WOULD IF MY PHYSICAL TEMPLE WAS DEFACED. SIN IS SIN NOT THINGS WE PERSONALLY FEELOR THINK ARE WRONG. BUT GREAT POINT OF VIEW MY MAN BUT PLEASE DONT JUDGE LIKE THAT DOC.

  • @jton23 yeah youre right bro sorry for judging like that ive been in church all my life as well so maybe thats why i get jealous sometimes with the things of the Lord. but great drumming man i dig it.

  • This guys timing is off mostly every time he does a fill and I know I will get some slack here but I just don't get this Gospel drumming thing period! It is all overplaying, everyone seems to sound exactly alike even the cymbal set ups are usually exact mini china and all, I don't get how any of this is musical what so ever!

  • @Monsterdrumma if those are your videos I Dont see how what you're playing is anymore musical..

  • @Monsterdrumma well all rock drumming seems to sound exactly the same and it all just seems to be noise to me but i dont go on rock drumming vids and say that and most rocks drumers setup seem to be the same, and his timinng isnt off at all you probably just cant keep up with his licks. i use em all the time during practice cuz they help build timing i think there called off beat licks or off time licks or whatever. you dont get it becuase you arent a gospel drummer.

  • @sample21383 Well I watched this again and actually I only think the first fill is off as he just has one to many hits in there but I missed judged that part of it and I can admit that but I do think r and b drummers sound the same and I will agree about rock drummers if you are talking current ones. As far as me not keeping up with his licks, I think if you listen to my videos that is backwards, I used to sit in at funk/r and b clubs in NYC and get ovations so that is definitely not the case!

  • ya he gets so hyped about his awesome fill that he rushes the shit out of it

  • Please tell me this was a rehearsal

  • Looks like he's playing a 14x7 snare. I wonder what type of heads he's using. An Evans Dry maybe?? I have a ddrum S4 Maple 13x7 snare, any suggestions on heads?

  • what is he using for the click??? what it called?

  • a metronome for tempo and timing

  • One on the left looks like a Boss Dr 670 maybe

  • dat was a crazy fill at 2:42!!! bet the whole band looked back and smiled! lol

  • listen to the bass drum! haha amazing fill!

  • that was sick!! yeaaa

  • dude all the fills fite his groove.

  • yea. This dude is killllllllleeeerrrrrrr. "some fills don't fit." yea, well listen again cause it does fit. it just sounds weird because that is the future and you aint heard that shit before.

  • @justindrumify To be honest bro those fills fit but his timing was slightly off.and also those fills werent futuristic but very few play in that stlye

  • @MrLilbill99 yeah you can tell hes trying to hold it back but just wants to rush thru fills but then he hears the click.

  • really nice... some fills dont fit but nice

  • sick with it real cool bro

  • tutorial please hahaha

  • Your fills hinder

  • what snare is that

  • one word beast!!!!!!!!!

  • WHO IS THIS GUY?!?!?! HE IS KILLING!!!

  • Just totaly awesome! Period.

  • I like that setup. I hate drum shields unless you get a monitor though!!

  • he's got a headset so he can hear

  • - ayO , youh the truth man. Ima qospel drummer also && i wannah know whats sum of the thinqs youh practice 2 play they way youh do.?

  • i like the way you setted up the drums man

  • nice

  • It's to see him really enjoying it :)

  • FlaVor!!!

  • what is that called that you are programming? I think it was a making a beat!!! Well you are Good!!!

  • im a beast WOOOOOOO! hahaha! awesome!

  • did he say he was a beast

  • tis is recording?

  • very cool !!

    you can play good;)

but the grafic from the video is not too good ;(..

    be blessed;)

  • MAN!!!! He ripped this seriously.. He got mad skills and the way he jus puts things together.. TALENTED

  • He's definitely good but the licks were repetitive and reused. I liked it the first couple times but after a while it got old. Good job man

  • I agree.

  • I agree. It's cool at first, but you have to remember that you are playing with a group and it would sound one hundred times better to just stay behind them and not play triplet fills all the time. Just uncalled for. I still respect the creativity of this guy..

  • If you think this guy is overplaying you should check out some more gospel drummers. This guy is so laid back compared to a lot of gospel players.

  • you are totally correct!

  • dude...before i even read the comments i was gonna actually post something like what you said... this guy IS super laid back.....

dudes that over play are pridgen and moore.....dont get me wrong..AMAZING drummers but def DOONT keep pocket much. i hung out with nisan stewart and just watched him warm up.....plays amazing just like these dudes but when it comes down to business he keeps deep pocket.....i think thats the most important way to play

  • I agree completely!

I love Pridgen but I get bored very easily by guys who just shed over EVERYTHING. This guy is great.

  • i agree too! moore is still one of my fav drummers....i feel bad even saying that but ive NEVER seen vids of him playing pocket

  • @btownshreds1 Dude pridgen has a SICK pocket when he is on a gig. Check out when he was playing with keyshia cole.

  • @btownshreds1 it was a rehearsal

  • @btownshreds1 ppl have there own style tho, right man, so like, Thomas Pridgen mite not b playing in the pocket to us, but maybe to him, thats in the pocket, or maybe its not.

  • @FaithIsAccidental like thomas prigden

  • @DrumNasty123 Yeah, not too keen on Pridgen personally.

  • what drum is it? Pearl Mahogany??

  • love that beat n tempo just walkin down the street

  • AWESOME COMMENT!

  • I don't know why people iz makinga big deal out of this all tha licks and fills he's doing in this video....its just a rehearsal not a real service!!! Do you think he would be wear a hat during church? And if this was a church service what musician do you know would get up and leave like he was about to do at the end????

  • thanks doc!!! all that is, is common sense! god bless you man!!

  • u welcome man i'ma musician too so i know what you mean.

  • Thats is some nice hitting...good stuff..

  • Nice Vid!

  • u sohuld right wat u doin LR wat i wanna learn those

  • mostly triplets but he starts the fills on up beat a lot...where he starts the fills adds to the interest...other than that he mixes instruments in the trips well

  • what is the name of this song??

  • i dont think he did to much at all he stayed in tha pocket to much and ive much worse out of gospel drummers, he killed it!

  • PEOPLE PLEASE REALIZE THAT THIS IS JUST A REHEARSAL, WHEN WE GET TO ..................................lol!!, BUT I DONT PLAY LIKE THIS IN SERVICE. MAN DO YOU ALL THINK THAT I WOULD HAVE A HAT ON DURING A CHURCH SERVICE? COME ON PEOPLE. I AM JUST HAVING JUN AND TRYING OUT THINGS I DONT GET TO DO. THATS WHY MOST OF IT SOUNDS INCONSISTANT. BUT BE BLESSED YALL AND KEEP IT CHOPPED UP!!!

  • People trip ova NOTHIN these days.

  • What type of kit is that, i'm guessing yamaha?.........

  • its just nice playin why not say you like it if you do?

  • hey bro that sounded just fine !! Some very nice ideas and a great p-funk vibe at times !

  • niceee, isn't that g.mayes?????

  • Yo wat kind of snare is dat? Its nice.

  • sKip wuT everYboDi elSe saId..mANNN yU kiLLed iT.nICE Job!!

  • Please tell me he didn't do this in an actual concert. Thats too much.

  • not when it feels that good it isn't....?!?!?!?

  • OF COURSE it is!! It draws attention to you. whatchu want attention for? Its all about music AS A WHOLE.

  • yea... i do see where he wasn't accenting the important parts of the music dynamically, as much as he was making it fun. i wish to see the whole service...if perhaps it ever reached a "Worship" place, where the slightest touch is too much... i say when your breaking the dirt (hardened hearts) go for it, but transition to something of tangiable worship the whole service can offer the dynamics rather than one song.. you know? place for everything, even in Gods house! bless you

  • yeah da organist did get nasty wit

  • A glass sound barrier? Really? You can still push the shit and play quiet ya know

  • it's for sound and mic purposes. some people should think before they speak lol

  • plus we basically just moved into the church so we didnt have the mics up yet

  • he gots skills, but he rude this song with all that stuff. If he was young, i would understand, but with those fills n licks, he should of stayed with the groove and he ruined it, sorry

  • thanks for the input. i'll remember that and try to do less next time. But is a rehearsal and i dont play like that on sunday morning. To look at some clips that during a concert or service type in shamond scales and go to the live clips and you can see how i play during a concert or service. But God bless and keep drummin!!!

  • nice drumming!!!

    5 stars

  • This would have been a nasty groovy if he didn't do all the choppy off beat fills. That's a sure way to get fired from a gig. Keep drummin' bro.

  • That rules!

  • WHAT IZ THE NAME OF THE SONG

  • Man, right around 3:03, I was breakin my neck over here! Nice work!

  • sometimes sittin back in the pocket in a groove sounds better than insane fills every minute..just my opinion

  • every minute would be fine but they usually do it every 2 bars

  • Gospel drummers are the best drummers in the world,

    (my opinion)

  • very tru, b/c im 1 myself

  • i dont know about that bro their are many drummers that are sick that dont play gospel music

  • yes we are!

  • I'm not even necessarily a gospel drummer, but their style is something I'm starting to take on and adapt to my own musical direction, because of all the emotion involved in it. The groove is all-important.

The ones at least somewhat trained in gospel are the best drummers, though, that's for sure.

  • displaced triplets in he beginning 16ths towards the end,,,,, easy. If you get too carried away you'll piss off the director especially if your fellow band mates can't keep up. That was always my problem,,,,, I listen to too much be bop......

  • theres a difference between gift and anoiting you my sir are anoited! all these hings ur doin allow the anoiing to be shifted

  • Nice!!!
