@SuperVirk1 I'm glad theres others out there that can appreciate the diff. of other mma promotions. Its true UFC as well as other U.S. promotions have a no-intervention policy for referees. The big diff. of Japanese mma is they ref. a fight more along the lines of a boxing match, seperating obvious stalemates. The UFC ref. fights more like a grappling match, which doesnt favor restaring a stalemate b/c "they're working their bjj game". Silly considering they use boxing 10-9 rule for scoring
@wasabiP The ref separated them cause Takaya defended 2 takedowns. Dream refs will break if they defend the takedown, ufc refs will let grapplers wear down opponents on the fence as long as they are attempting a takedown. I like Dream better
@ncampbell01 I agree dream has better rules, including yellow cards for stalling and allowing up kicks to the face while on the ground and knees to downed opponents unlike american promotions. The american promotions like to promote wrestling and ground top control over jiu jitsu and submission attempts from the bottom.
takaya's fight with leonard garcia in the WEC was stop early and his fight with cub swanson was really dumb...he could of won but he just seem like hes not himself
This loss was due to the ref saving Takaya's ass by restarting them from the cage. Takaya doesn't have shit in the clinch and just coz the ref reset them, he was handed a lucky break. Hansen is clearly the better fighter and a young strong guy just caught him with a good shot to the chin by chance. Takaya obviously earned his win here but if the ref hadn't eben such a douche then who knows how the fight would have went.
Takaya has really good boxing. He must train with a olympic boxing coach or something. His defense and counter punching techniques look just like most olympic boxers. He has better balance than other mma fighters when he throws combinations.
@kyokushin723 Hansen is fighting at FW so he can have some size advantage. At LW, we have fighters like Aoki, Alvarez, Kawajiri, etc who clearly gain about 10lbs-20lbs when it comes to fight night, and they're huge compared to Hansen. Hansen's natural weight has always been 155lbs and he always fought at a huge size and weight disadvantage. In PRIDE, he had to force himself to eat donuts and chocolates in order to make the 160lbs weight.
I don't understand why he's cutting weight all of the sudden. His only real weakness is takedown defense and cutting 10 pounds isn't about to make that any better.

@FIGHTFANNERD3 P.S - Watch Hansen's Fight Against Alverez. He Gets Rocked And Dropped Too Many Times For That To Have Actually Gone The Distance...Which It Did. Which Shows His HEART, Not His Chin. It Only Shows How Susceptible His Chin Is.
@KiLl3rWoRm69 I wouldn't say Hansen had a great chin but he had fast recovery. Same with Alvarez and Wanderlei, they have suspect chins but hell of a recovery. In Hansen's case, he did get dropped and rocked several times in his MMA career, and then after winning the DREAM belt, he came off a one-year layoff because of the head injury. Plus with aging, his recovery has definitely decreased. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets KOed again soon.
yea dude the ring is better, they say guys can be trap against a corner, fall out, or get tangle but i see more disadvantage in a cage, like guys getting crush against the cage and being ground and pounded, fighters always use the cage as a takedown defense and the guy on his back can walk up the fence and flip his opponant...japanese mma rules just work better for the ring
I think it's a combination of Hansen being drained from the weight cut and Takaya being extremely heavy handed and skilled in striking. Hansen did state in a post fight interview that he felt strong, well conditioned, and ready in this fight. He just got caught. It's crazy to see Hansen get KO'd flat like that. He's taken shots from the best and walked right through them. Great win for Takaya.
@BushidothePhenom true, he's strong at lw. he's also been at welterweight before, didn't do bad there either. the draining when he cuts weight prob weakened his chin which is tested before.too bad, hope he comes back. maybe they can do a strikeforce matchup with him
hansen is done

As already stated by others, Hansen needs to go back to LW. 1 he looks like he can't handle the weight cutting 2 He's too slow for these faster FWs.
