  • Does the Mustang IV have good bass? I am interested in buying one and I am very picky about

    Bass. Thanks

  • @steverichards13 The British 80s amp model is pretty bassy and full but in general this is not a bass heavy amp. Try before you buy!

  • Wow. The more I listen, the more impressed I am! It sounds as if the pick response is very close to that of a valve amp. Is that true, or is it just my wishful thinking?

  • @Bogie6588 you are so right! and just rolling off the volume on the guitar changes the tone just like a valve amp would

  • Hello sir! Great demo! Have you used a wah pedal with the amp yet? If so, does it respond well? I love all the amp models and effects it offers. I use my cry baby wah extensively in my sound, so it certainly would be nice if they worked well together. Thank you for the nice demo!

  • @Bogie6588 Got myself a vintage re-issue Vox wah. God it's great with this amp. I'll do a vid in the next couple of days if I get a chance.

  • @Bogie65check my chanel for a wah wah demo with this amp

  • @examiner Nice video! Incidentally, there is a cover made by Fender for this amp. Sweetwater sells it for just under $20. Their item number is 'Mustang3Cvr'

  • @rjoz5150 Thanks for that. Unfortunately I'm in the UK and I can't get one locally. They'll arrive on these shores eventually.

  • It comes with a 2 footswitch pedal right?

  • @koalacheroki thats correct. Can be used for up and down of patches or you can have a couple of favourites. I purchased the 4 button too. Very useful having both.

  • What about the fizzy artifact issue?

  • @waao2005 there isn't one! I use clean sounds a lot as my band plays some Eagles and early Beatles, and its sweet. The software upgrade from ages ago fixed that problem.

  • Hey i got this amp this christmas but how do you save stuff? Like if i wanted to save a distortion channel and a clean channel how would i do that? Great vid btw :)

  • @JdBekk45 Find a sound you want to edit. Edit it. Press SAVE, choose where you want to save it, IE patch 00 to 99,( it will be on the patch number you were editing to start with) press SAVE again. OR use Fuse software to download some great sounds and save in the same way.

  • @examiner alright that's good to know! Thanks

  • So would you say this amp would hold up for traveling and small and medium size gigs? Great vid by the way

  • @xylophoneblaine yes I think it would hold up to traveling, but there is no cover for it, so the black covering will mark. Having said that, I've put mine in and out of the car many times and it still looks great 'cause I'm careful! The knobs and switches seem sturdy. I was playing last night on a pretty large stage with a full band and LOUD vocal foldback (the lead singer is a bit deaf!) and I had the master volume on only 3.5. Loads of gigging power.

  • Excellent review - thank you! Thanks to you, I will seriously consider getting this amp.

A quick question though please! What kind of ports does it have on the back? A line out? (Fingers crossed it does!)

  • @nelrazor1 There is nothing on the back but the footswitch ports (2 and 4 button) and the FX loop. There is an emulated heaphone out on the front. The only amp I ever heard with a decent line out is the Blackstar. If you want to record directly, use a pc and the USB out. It sounds exactly like the speaker out, and you can choose stereo chorus and delays in the amp.

  • @examiner Apologies for the delay in responding, but thank you for the information! :) Again, top review, really informative. Please do keep it up.

  • When you strummed that first chord I was ready to go into "A Taste Of Honey"

  • @wivl1 Ah, someone that knows great music!

  • What do you suggest? A vox vt80+ or a mustang IV? And what is FX Loop? Is that important?

  • @CrossHolder92 No idea M8, never heard a vox vt80, or even seen one. FX loop allows you to add external fx like reverb or delay pedals to your setup without affecting the original tone of your guitar. I feel it's totally unneeded when all the fx are built into the amp

  • I was thinking of getting this as a first gigging amp. I've never had a tube amp before, and would like this, so was wondering if this is much worse than tube amps in the price range (£200-£300), and whether it's good enough for gigging.

  • @hazuinf I use it live. Gets over a loud drummer and bass player fine and we are not mic'd up. I truly can't comment on the tube amp thing as I don't use one and didn't try one. Too expensive and too damn heavy

  • Thanks for ur answer ;) And one more question, is it enogh loud for playing in band?

  • @BaDG0oD I use it with a live drummer, another guitarist and a bass player and rarely turn it above 4! 100 watts is loud when it sounds this good.

  • Hi, i was looking for new amp. I need an amp, with which one i can gig, and play with band.

I dont really like this processors in amp's, classic is better i think :)

I have checked some amps, same price as Mustang.

Fender FM212R; peavey Bandit 112,Line 6 Spider IV 75, Line 6 III Spider Jam and ofcorse Mustang III :)

I play Stuff like White Stripes, Nirvana ... like hard rock, classic.

I dont play metal at all.

    So what do you reccomend?

    Sorry for my English!

    Thanks :)

  • @BaDG0oD Sorry dude, don't know anything about the other amps you mention, I am just a player like you, but out of the amps I tried the Fender had the best tone for me. I needed some sparkling clean sound for my band but some great lead sounds with huge sustain for my own stuff. Mustang 3 delivered.

  • @BaDG0oD you should buy or the peavey vypyr 75 or line 6 spider iv 75 this is what i'm wondering

  • Does this amp make alot of humming or buzzing noise? Thanks

  • @playerslightregular In my experience, 35 odd years, it is the guitars that buzz and hum, not the amps. If I play the guitar near to the PC, it'll hum because the pickups pick up the RF interference. I have never had any problems with strange noises when gigging.

  • hey i need some advice i have a dean 350 custom floyd rose and i like to play metal rock i love bfmv and a have my guitar in drop C i think but i like to play all kind of stuf do you think that this amp is good for me? sorry for my bad english

  • @zemanel1231 The distortion sound are great, both the amp overdrive and the distortion pedal simulation. I'm afraid I have no knowledge of drop tunings and I don't play heavy metal, but great sound is great sound, and this amp rocks.

  • @examiner thanks =)

  • Thank you for this video Examiner. I ordered one yesterday and it should be here by Friday. I'm very excited. To follow up on the last comment do you think the British 80s amp is convincing for Marshall tones? A lot of modeling software and amps I've tried don't have good Marshall sims. I have read nothing but good things about the Mustang though.

  • @DJMannas Please let me know what you think when you get it. Yes, all the amps and cabs are very authentic. With the Marshall you can get great pinched harmonics and it's fat sounding. Have a great time playing.

  • also can you record with this as well?

  • planning to get me one since i have not too much money to afford a tube amp, does it have a decent tone for guns n roses and bon jovi tunes? it sounds amazing on the video...

  • @wretcheddog I think with a little patience you could get just about anybody's tone. The amp simulation "british 80's" is a marshall. combined with the 4x12 speaker sim I think you get pretty close to Slash tones, especially if you have Les Paul style axe.

Load up the Fender ASIO drivers and you can choose the amp as the recording input, and the tone from the USB out is exactly the same as through the speaker. It records brilliantly, especially as you can choose stereo delays to record

  • Great review, mate!

  • Hi, excellent review. Can I just ask if it is possible to play VERY quietly in a small flat, or does the volume control seem to jump high between 0 and 1 like on most big amps? Thanks for your time.

  • @thestrid82 The master volume does, as you say, jump suddenly. I have never tried to play "very" quietly, but I can program a patch with very little volume on it so I can turn up the master. The headphone out is great.

  • @thestrid82 i just played one at guitar center today and it doesnt have a really bad jump would be good for that situation

  • Hey, thanks for the review. I have a question....I'm flipping back and forth whether I will get the mustang II or III. I'm a house/room player only. I think it's worth the extra money for the screen and better celestion speaker in the III. What concerns me is if it is too much for the house. I know modelling keeps it's tone for the most part regardless of volume but do you need to crank the III a little bit to get it to sound better and get the speaker moving? Thanks.

  • @presatito Well, I have a friend with the II and it's not bad, but the III is much easier to use and a lot of the programming can be done on the amp itself. You HAVE to use Fuse software with the II. With some careful programing the III can sound really good at low levels, as you are still driving the preamp hard, but you can program the master really low.

  • @examiner Ok, thanks. I basically only want the III so I can do tweaking on the screen itself. I don't need as much balls as the III has haha. The upgraded speaker is a bonus as well I guess.

  • Fender finally gets modeling right, everyone else is playing catchup now.

  • ..thank you very much..!

  • Fender Mustang 111..... must be one huge amp!!... haha

  • ...is it possible, to play quietly (apartment) with the the amp...?

    greetings from tom

  • @tz750 Yes. Just edit a sound and reduce the volume on the preset. Then use the main volume on the amp to adjust for your room.

  • How many user presets can i save to the amp? and does it have a built in looper?

  • @fran6283 100 presets. you have to over-write a preset for your own sounds but the software it comes with is a librarian to save as many as you want. No looper. The fx are purely guitar fx and amp/speaker modeling.

  • hey man nice video sounds great but is gig worthy?

  • @MrShredder666 well it's pretty solidly made and very nicely finished. There are no metal corners on it which would have been nice. As far as knobs and electronics go, I'd say very gig worthy.

  • @examiner thanks man do you think the 100 qatt is loud enough for a gig just looks rather small

  • @MrShredder666 It's impossible to say. It IS small which suits me. It gets over a drummer and bass player no problem at all, but I'm not playing hard rock or anything like that. I have never had the volume knob above 4. Another guy in the band has the next one up with 2 12" speakers. Not that much more money for the extra power if ya think you might need it.

  • all of my channels on mine sound the same any suggestions? im trying to get to a 50's rock style

  • @mikewashere01 Hey chap, have you worked it out? If all patches sound the same then all 100 patches should have the same name. Get it attached to Fuse software with your guitar attached and try some sounds form the community. There are some lovely fender clean sound that would work with rock n roll

  • man, does it have also a sound card to record inside so ican also use it like a sound card to register on my pc?

  • This amp should be priced more.It it absoultly amazing, I turned my amp to master volume at 6 and I played it at a gig and it was utterly just too loud. The sound hits you right in the chest yet the sound is so pristine. I play alot of Red Hot Chili Peppers and this amp fits the tones I want them to be with out pedal boards. The Footswitch is use full at gigs. I love this amp!

  • hey thanks a ton man being a huge metal fan who also plays blues and jazz, i was worried if i would like this since i only got to play i for a short amount of time but my mind has been set

  • @toasterjoe70 thanks for the comment man. I wanted to do the vid 'cause I was excited about the amp so I hope you love it too. All the best.

    E

  • can I plug my guitar into a multieffects pedal and then to the amp? Will the amp respond to the variety of sounds of the pedal-board?

  • @NtGism yes indeed. My advice, for what it's worth, get the nicest clean sound you can on the amp without the pedal board, then use the pedals. If you have true bypass on the pedals you can use some of the programing features on the amp. It gives lovely sustain. I use NO pedals anymore!

  • briliant ok so sometimes your base player doesnt turn up? lol just busting your balls great sound nice review
