What a beautiful song! If anyone would like to read a good book about the things left at the wall, see, Laura Palmers', "Shrapnel in the Heart". There has even been a play done, and music written about this book. I happen to be in it, but, I don't like to give my name. I gave a story about my best friend. He died three months before his 18th birthday. We celebrated our birthdays together in the park when we were little. I miss him to this day. Spectre1

My dad a Vietnam veteran. Oh how I love him. He passed away 4-2311. Like most nam vets he died of lung cancer at age 62. My dad lived his life of hell just like his brothers. I respect and thank every single one of u. As a child of a nam vet I understand the hell u guys still to this day live with.my dad lived Vietnam until he took his last breath. The first part of this video states "Thank God for the lives these 50,000 men sacrificed". As a WAC, I have to say that many women lost their lives in Vietnam too. Please don't forget those of us women who enlisted to serve our country too.

@traumaqueen45-People of my generation aren't especially PC and we use the term "men" quite often when we refer to a group of people made up of both sexes. Believe me, we are well aware of the ladies that serve in all wars and mean no slight.

Remember also, those who served, but did not die, & how they were treated when they came home. No "thank yous", no "we're proud", no "mega-greetings at airports", etc. Today, even the loudest "anti-war crowds" say they at least support the troops. Where were they during the vietnam war? They degraded & demoralized our veterans for their SERVICE. Upon returning home, some vietnam vets were literally, spit on.

So gutless.

So sad.

Can we EVER make it up to our vietnam vets?

Most were treated horribly, just like your father. My family has been personally affected. I've seen first hand the devastating, lasting effects the post-war treatment has had on vietnam vets. It sounds as if you feel the same.... so are you directing your post at me? If so, why?

This country OWES a DEBT of GRATITUDE TO ALL (VIETNAM) VETS that we both know that will NEVER be paid!! The only thanks that our Vietnam Vets even received was that they gave to each other, or from their own families! Whenever I see a NAM vet wearing a hat or jacket I always shake there hand, thank them and say WELCOME HOME! The reactions I get, (ONLY) NAM vets would understand !!!

I morn for my forgotten brothers who lost their young and lives in Vietnam. Those I served with that, because of my own defense mechanism, I can't honor today because their names are buried so deep within my heart I can't access them. I see thier faces hear their cries. They haunt me.
