What a beautiful song! If anyone would like to read a good book about the things left at the wall, see, Laura Palmers', "Shrapnel in the Heart". There has even been a play done, and music written about this book. I happen to be in it, but, I don't like to give my name. I gave a story about my best friend. He died three months before his 18th birthday. We celebrated our birthdays together in the park when we were little. I miss him to this day. Spectre1
that wall is the most touching thing I ve ever seen travelling the world from italy, my country. I LOVE YOU USA, please dont send your children out in the world to be killed like that anymore.
My dad a Vietnam veteran. Oh how I love him. He passed away 4-2311. Like most nam vets he died of lung cancer at age 62. My dad lived his life of hell just like his brothers. I respect and thank every single one of u. As a child of a nam vet I understand the hell u guys still to this day live with.my dad lived Vietnam until he took his last breath. My dad had no choice like many. The god awful way u guys was treated when u came home. My dad is at peace now. R.I.P. Mark Hicks Vietnam 1968-1971
thank you Bob! My God people, please thank a vet or active serviceman or woman. We badly need PATRIOTISM NOW!! Bless you all, and God help our America......
@50poiuyt What are you smoking???? Get your yellow-bellied, weak-kneed, lily-livered ass up & fight like they did, then try to live with the lack of gratitude & the post-traumatic stress they still live with today! You couldn't do it!
@50poiuyt There should be a memorial for "Hue massacre" too. Communists killed thousands of people in Hue. There are still a lot of witnesses still living in Hue. Death to Communists! God Bless America!
The first part of this video states "Thank God for the lives these 50,000 men sacrificed". As a WAC, I have to say that many women lost their lives in Vietnam too. Please don't forget those of us women who enlisted to serve our country too.
@traumaqueen45-People of my generation aren't especially PC and we use the term "men" quite often when we refer to a group of people made up of both sexes. Believe me, we are well aware of the ladies that serve in all wars and mean no slight.
those whom fought in the Vietnam War did for their country and for those suffering from their communistic leaders. Thank you to the children left fatherless, wives left widows, men left widowers, parents left without a child...your sacrifice and tears are remembered. no war should be forgotten. war is sad but necessary at times.
I have the upmost respect and admiration for all of our war veterans and this song makes my heart ache for the ones who gave their lives so i can live mine., Free.
Remember also, those who served, but did not die, & how they were treated when they came home. No "thank yous", no "we're proud", no "mega-greetings at airports", etc. Today, even the loudest "anti-war crowds" say they at least support the troops. Where were they during the vietnam war? They degraded & demoralized our veterans for their SERVICE. Upon returning home, some vietnam vets were literally, spit on.
@Itsmahere Those same anti-war hippy trash of the 60s have children / grandchildren fighting todays WARS ! And they want me to suck the hind tit of them! I dont think so! THEY SPIT ON (MY) FATHER AND THREW GARBAGE AT HIM WHEN HE CAME HOME FROM HIS (3RD) TOUR ALL SCREWED UP!! THEY PUT A WIRE CAGES ON THE WINDOWS OF THE MEDIVAC BUSES AT GREAT LAKES, ILL. TO PROTECT HIM FROM THE CROWD!! WHAT THE F@@@!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME? HE AND MY MOTHER (WILL NEVER) FORGET ! NOT (MY) SON, NO FRIGGEN WAY!
@ppspsd ??? I'm confused. I'm not sure you understood my post. Or maybe I am misunderstanding yours? I DON'T think there's any way we can ever make it right for our vietnam vets. Most were treated horribly, just like your father. My family has been personally affected. I've seen first hand the devastating, lasting effects the post-war treatment has had on vietnam vets. It sounds as if you feel the same.... so are you directing your post at me? If so, why?
@Itsmahere NO SIR we are on the same page, and I mean no disrespect to you or any VIETNAM VET in anyway believe me! This country OWES a DEBT of GRATITUDE TO ALL (VIETNAM) VETS that we both know that will NEVER be paid!! The only thanks that our Vietnam Vets even received was that they gave to each other, or from their own families! Whenever I see a NAM vet wearing a hat or jacket I always shake there hand, thank them and say WELCOME HOME! The reactions I get, (ONLY) NAM vets would understand !!!
@Itsmahere how very true this is , we were dope additices, and baby killers , but we only did our job ,god bless all true americans that know just how much our freedom COST
Some of these names are bro's I served with, and every time I go to see the wall, I see the names and can barely hold it together. To any other nam vets who may see this, welcome home to you, my brothers & sisters.
@stevedoug50 God Bless You, sir! Thank you ever so much for serving our country! Hey, can anyone tell me if there's a way to block certain users from seeing my comments???
@stevedoug50 Thank you, friend! You have a great weekend as well. It is because of Veterans like yourself that we are allowed to have good times. I will never forget that & neither will my children! :)

I morn for my forgotten brothers who lost their young and lives in Vietnam. Those I served with that, because of my own defense mechanism, I can't honor today because their names are buried so deep within my heart I can't access them. I see thier faces hear their cries. They haunt me.
May God, who knows each one, bless them and keep them in His care.

A fitting tribute. Unfortunate those who fought there had to wait until the Reagan admin to be treated like the heroes they were. The hatred for the war should never have been taken out on the soldiers forced to fight it. RIP to those who didn't make it and sincere thanks to those that survived.
