  • jeez dude that sounds wicked!

  • Do you have any issues with the GT10 not putting out enough signal to adequately push the Special 6 amp, when you run into the FX return? I assume the volume control on the amp does not work when hooked in this manner. It seems different amps work different in this regard. I run my RP-500 into the FX return on my Peavey XXX head, and the volume control is still active.

  • @nickwarhead I run the volume on the GT10 at about 25% on the 3 watt setting on the amp. It's plenty loud since I mic the amp at rehearsal. If I need more volume, I run the amp at 6 watts. But still not more than 30% on the GT since it can overdrive the loop and distort. Pretty much only the wattage attenuator works on the amp when running into the loop.

  • @nickwarhead ciao, il loop send e return non funziona bene con rp500 perche' rp500 non ha la funzione per collegamento a 4 cable, rp1000 ok,boss gt10 ok,line 6 x3live ok. ciao

  • hello setup vht+boss gt10 4 cable?

  • @ROBYRH4 The GT10 output is set to Combo Return. And I'm running from the mono output on the GT to the effects return on the VHT. That means the volume and the tone control on the VHT ore bypassed and don't function. Also running the VHT at half power so it's 3 watts. Does that answer your question? Or are you asking about my patches on the GT?

  • @MrDarinWarren ok, I understand I also like you to use boss gt 10, Boss GT10 use both pre amp and my amp Cicognani simultaneous midi great killers, boss gt 10 I will open the send return the presets that I like so 'return and the sound is perfect. Hello, thanks

  • @MrDarinWarren I was thinking of getting this amp and bypassing the pre amp with the Guitar Rig programme, my question is if the master volume is disabled how do you control the volume of the power amp?

  • @foraquid Not sure about Guitar Rig. But, each patch has amp model level, as well as patch level. Plus, the pedal controls the output. So there really is 4 levels of volume control. Not quite sure if that answeres you question though. I have had a LOT of amps and pedals. The GT-10 isn't the perfect solutyion for everything. But it is usable, and with some serious time tweaking, you can get it to work well for you. Factory presets stink. Even someone elses patch may not work with your setup.

  • Man, I just don't understand. I have a Special 6 Ultra head and it sounds like crap. I run a TC Electronics Flashback delay in the loop and it sounds horrible with the amps distortion. Your tone at the end of this video is fantastic. What kind of distortion are you using on the GT there? Is the distortion going through the loop? Have you changed out the stock tubes or something? I cannot get mine to sound anything like yours. What kind of guitar and Pickups are you using?

  • @blairphillips7 I am using only the power amp section. I am running the GT-10 into the return of the effects loop on the back. I also have the power set to "LOW". The clean on the amp is pretty good. I suspect it might take a gain pedal pretty well. If I didn't have the GT-10, I'd probably be tempted to run a Visual Sound V2JH Jekyll and Hyde Overdrive and Distortion or The Fulltone OCD pedal in the front. Both are quite warm gain pedals. I would avoid a Boss DS-1, it's too brittle.

  • @blairphillips7 I did try using the GT-10 in the front. I tried it with no amp modeling on the GT-10, just using the distortion pedals. I didn't get any tone I could use. I ended up using the GT-10 amp models with the preamp turned on, and bypassing the preamp of the VHT altogether. The advantage of doing this is, the BOSS GT-10 has a lot of flexibility as far as it's built in effects and wah. Also, I have several amp models/patches set up for different guitars and songs.

  • @blairphillips7 This is the guitar I'm using

It's a guitar that was built for me 21 years ago. It has a Bartolini in the bridge pos and a SD Cool Rail in the neck. It's pretty much modeled after a Jackson guitar.

I bought this setup, the VHT and the GT-10 to use mainly with this Reverend CK290. In this video.

Keep me posted as to how your situation works out.

  • @MrDarinWarren Thanks for your replies. Again, great tone. Do you run your setup like this: guitar > Boss GT input > Boss GT output > VHT FX loop return? You have no guitar cable connected to the clean or ultra channel input on top of the amp, right? Also, the "GT-10 amp models with the preamp turned on" that you mentioned, is that going through the return of the loop as well? I am confused as to where your distortion is coming from and if it is running in the loop. Thanks for you advice.

  • @blairphillips7 Yep, just guitar > GT-10 > Return loop on VTH. Instead of using the preamp on the VHT, I'm using the preamp models in the GT. I did try running into the front/top of the amp and having the tone control of the amp to use. But it just doesn't sound good running a preamp into a preamp. The GT-10 is made to run direct into a PA or a power amp. I before I bought the VHT I was running it into a JBL powered PA speaker, which sounded darn great, but looked funny.

  • @blairphillips7 You could do the same thing with a Line 6 unit. I'll try that tonight, I'll run my Line 6 POD 2.0 into the loop and record that and post it. The VHT is a pretty sweet little amp and has potential. It just need a little help. :)

  • @blairphillips7 I just posted a new video the GT10 into the VHT

  • Great sounds!

  • I was hoping to get a Fender Blues Jr for this set up. But I ran across the VHT. It seems to work really well. I like that the VHT has a wattage attenuator, 2 speakers outs and an ohms switch on the back, and well as an effects loop that I can run the GT into. I tried hard to get the GT to work in the front of the amp, and not using the pre amp on the GT, and just using the pedals to overdrive the clean channel on the VHT. In the end, the GT into the loop return worked well.

  • very nice sound !!!!!!!!!!!
