Depends on which ACR you're talking about. The Gen 4 ACR (08-09) would be fast at the beginning of the race, but then the downforce would slow it down a lot. Same with GTSR. Hennessey might be overkill

Yes, I am fully aware that a four door heavy sedan would not bet that Viper around a track. Of course, I am thrilled to see that the American car companies are finally getting their act together and building better cars (it's about time) to compete with their foreign rivals. For example, after driving the new Camero I was actually impressed (with the V8, the V6 still has a ways to go). My only issue with American cars is their quality - it's getting better, but it's still very bad in comparison
I live in US - and i can tell by trafic on streets, that its more old ass US junks on the road then import. And one more thing about Bimer i new more then 10 ppls who buy a 7 series or X5 brand new from a dealer and it went down in less then 3 weeks. Some of them even preorder those cars and pay more then 100K and after big disappointment and monts of repairs they return it to dealer. So now i can tell that any US car will kill BMW for quality even cheapest ones :)

did you consider the cylinder and valves in each cars? The Shelby gt500 gets a better gas mileage and has the unique V8 sound. Also, the Ferrari is 6x more expensive! You are comparing apple with bananas here
Valves? MPG? A M6 is faster and has better MPG, and a lot of budget european hatbacks have 5 valves per cilinder.

Whats the point about this? Us americans dont care about building a N/A engines with the most horsepower. These days we care more about building faster cars that actually handles well. And thats what we do. The 09 Cadilac CTS-V is in my opinion the best 4 door car out there. And thats why cars like the corvette ZR-1 and Dodge Viper ACR has beaten so many european cars around "the ring". And not too mention, us americans still have "the worlds fastest production car" the SSC Ultimate Aero.
The CTS is just a bit faster than M5, but in quality and ride has a big gap. The new porsche panamera could be the ugliest thing in the world, but for sure it its the best 4door saloon. I dont like the Viper, but that's taste, but i do realy like the ZR1, just because it is fast in straight line, but incredible also in the corners, with a proper manual gearbox, best car ever made in US along with the ford GT, congrats:)
BTW, SSC isn't the faster, its matched by 9ff GT9-R and beaten by brabus TKR
I'm not even sure if the 9ff GT9-R and the brabus TKR are actually production cars. Have they been officially sold yet? I've been looking for production information on these cars for the longest. But anyway, these cars might be faster than the world record breaking Ultimate Aero. But the new 09 Ultimate Aero has 1287 hp and still managed to keep its weight at roughly 2,750 lbs and is projected to reach 270mph.
they are both production, the GT9-R are productiong now to bustitute the GT9 "non R", and TKR is too a production car, but his top speed is not official, like the viper ACR nurburgring lap.
I like some american cars like the saleen, ford GT, and Vette ZR1, great cars, a shame that thos engines are so rude, they will be even better than they are with a lighter engines.
Those 3 american cars, keep going fast with simple mecanics and manual gearbox, and Im getting sold now for them over europeans

But the thing is we have learned how to make our car light even if the engine is big. Just look at our Mosler MT 900s, it weighs no more than 2,200 lbs, which is lighter than a McLaren F1.
You are missing the point because the Mosler roadcar is a homolgation car, that is why there only exist 3 of them, they were made just for homolgation. Its like being here with the Merc CLK-GTR road car, wich was a homolgation car for the race tracks. And look at the toyota GT-one road car,but you cant compare them.
That mosler, has 350hp, and 2,200ln. Imagin it now for example with a e46 M3 engine, you will get the same power with much less wight, so it will be faster, thats my point

well to be exact, the cts-v is a bit quicker, but the m-5 is definitely faster. it may be hard to find, but see if u can find a 0-top speed race, by 150mph the m-5 will start reeling that caddy in, but you must think well who will drive that fast. well i will and every single time, but thats besides the point. the caddy is quicker on lower speeds 0-130mph, but after that, the m-5 just begins to come alive
I saw a drag between both and it was pretty even, but maybe de CTS will be fastar around a lap, because in the end the CTS was made with the benchmark on the M5, so it shloud be a a bit faster. But you know, in the end i stay with the M5, the CTS can be very fast, but who cares, the M5 works like any other luxury saloon, much better build quality and materials, much more confortable. The CTS-V is very fast, but very hard and unconfortable, and in that way i prefer a real sports car
@TZIRNI Alpina is the modification package for the BMW. Hennessey Venom is modification package for Viper so i would like to see this Bimer try at least to kip up with real race car :)

It's not quite the same. Alpinas are more than just tuned BMW's. They are whole different brand of cars. Alpina cars are registered as Alpina, not BMW. They are a registered car manufacturer.

Only Saleen of those used to be a registered CAR manufacturer. Mugen even isn't owned by Honda, and the rest are just racing/tuning departments of a car company. I don't think you get the point about alpina.

All Japanese manufacturers register its racing and luxury departments as manufacturers. Like Honda make Acura (everywhere in the world Acura called Honda but not in US) Nissan register Infinity, Toyota register Lexus. If you want to be on biggest market in the world you have to do it. Need to do more research but i think Alpina has same history.

X5 have traction control problems. I use to be a big fan of BMW but change my mind after owning this car few times and all of them was cars with problems.

And up until the last generation an E60 M5 generated as much power as an SRT10. Uncomfortable? Now that is bullshit, until you press any of the buttons to put it into sports mode it's as comfortable as luxury saloon. It doesn't matter if no one notices you, i'd see that as a plus point. They're better looking than Viper's anyway.

Anything can be modified for additional power absolutely - how streetable it then is is another question - try driving a top fuel car to the shops.
What I was saying is that for minimal expense the GTR has the greatest ability for power increase and with AWD can put it down - I drive a supercharged Ford and power down is definately the limiting factor (but fun). The ZR1 returns amazing grip and lateral Gforce as does the ACR - for any 'dramatic' improvement though 'much' more needs to be spent.
ZRI and ACR are awsome, pity is they only just beat the GTR35 on the track and can can really not be modified much more - the GTR is in fairly basic tune and can get wicked up really easy - a retune adding boost can add 100hp and 150nm safely and take it into the 10's. I think thay need to take that round the ring! By the way, I'm not a Japper fan, I drive blown 8's only!!

It has such a low top speed due to short gearing and massive downforce. An ACR Viper is about one minute faster on the Nürburgring than an M6, one minute, meaning that the ACR Viper is lightyears faster on the track than an M6

Some of you need to get glasses or be more objective when you look at this video. First race the BMW took off first it appears. 2nd race was a much more even start and even with a horrible driver the Viper still pulled away dispite a misshift. BTW the Alpina is a modded BMW regardless vs a bone stock Viper. Run what you brung but lets be realistic people. Viper would win 10 out of 10 if the races were started evenly. The Viper driver misshifting and still pulling away speaks volumes.
I know that Alpina is its own brand but it is using a BMW as a base lets not split hairs on what it really is:)

There is nothing that I have driven in 40 years of automotive experience that comes close. I worked for Ford SVO and did the fuel balance and EPA work on the Ford GT. I have almost 150 hours in the GT and friend the first time I nailed the throttle on the ACR I knew I had worked for the wrong people. Check out the Chrysler APG website.. if it still exists. peace.
I can tell you a company that owns Porsche. Where is this conversation going. When is the last time you've seen an Alpina? Its a rare breed that was build for luxury with a touch of power. Tell me a car that can handle like a sports car and carry 4 passengers for the price of a BMW or Alpina 5. This is an unfair race and the Alpina can keep up.
Closer then i expected it to be but the driver of the Viper was not amazing to say the least. If the cars had two top drivers the Viper would win everytime. Not a Viper lover but i know what this car can do and how it also not the easiest car to drive fast. Of course it depends on wo gives gas first: most of the times the drivers are in synch, sometimes not. When the cars are very evenly matched every part second is important, as seen. At really high speeds and they cannot ovetake each other, then the cars are very similar.
0-xx race are alot more room for errors related to the start.

True, with the same displacement, ferrari can produce a more powerfull NA engine that a ford with supercharger.
Example:
Ferrari 430 Scud - 4.3 liter NA = 510hp
Shleby gt500 - 5.4 liter SuperCharged = 500hp
Imagine the ferrari with a supercharger....
This americans dont figure out, why european cars are more expensive... they are because they are all round better.

did you consider the cylinder and valves in each cars? The Shelby gt500 gets a better gas mileage and has the unique V8 sound. Also, the Ferrari is 6x more expensive! You are comparing apple with bananas here

Valves? MPG? A M6 is faster and has better MPG, and a lot of budget european hatbacks have 5 valves per cilinder.

Whats the point about this? Us americans dont care about building a N/A engines with the most horsepower. These days we care more about building faster cars that actually handles well. And thats what we do. The 09 Cadilac CTS-V is in my opinion the best 4 door car out there. And thats why cars like the corvette ZR-1 and Dodge Viper ACR has beaten so many european cars around "the ring". And not too mention, us americans still have "the worlds fastest production car" the SSC Ultimate Aero.

The CTS is just a bit faster than M5, but in quality and ride has a big gap. The new porsche panamera could be the ugliest thing in the world, but for sure it its the best 4door saloon. I dont like the Viper, but that's taste, but i do realy like the ZR1, just because it is fast in straight line, but incredible also in the corners, with a proper manual gearbox, best car ever made in US along with the ford GT, congrats:)
BTW, SSC isn't the faster, its matched by 9ff GT9-R and beaten by brabus TKR

I'm not even sure if the 9ff GT9-R and the brabus TKR are actually production cars. Have they been officially sold yet? I've been looking for production information on these cars for the longest. But anyway, these cars might be faster than the world record breaking Ultimate Aero. But the new 09 Ultimate Aero has 1287 hp and still managed to keep its weight at roughly 2,750 lbs and is projected to reach 270mph.

they are both production, the GT9-R are productiong now to bustitute the GT9 "non R", and TKR is too a production car, but his top speed is not official, like the viper ACR nurburgring lap.
I like some american cars like the saleen, ford GT, and Vette ZR1, great cars, a shame that thos engines are so rude, they will be even better than they are with a lighter engines.
Those 3 american cars, keep going fast with simple mecanics and manual gearbox, and Im getting sold now for them over europeans

Lighter engines? lol Thats the most anti american thing there is. We just love the way our engines roar when you hit the gas. But the thing is we have learned how to make our car light even if the engine is big. Just look at our Mosler MT 900s, it weighs no more than 2,200 lbs, which is lighter than a McLaren F1.

You are missing the point because the Mosler roadcar is a homolgation car, that is why there only exist 3 of them, they were made just for homolgation. Its like being here with the Merc CLK-GTR road car, wich was a homolgation car for the race tracks. And look at the toyota GT-one road car,but you cant compare them.
That mosler, has 350hp, and 2,200ln. Imagin it now for example with a e46 M3 engine, you will get the same power with much less wight, so it will be faster, thats my point

well to be exact, the cts-v is a bit quicker, but the m-5 is definitely faster. it may be hard to find, but see if u can find a 0-top speed race, by 150mph the m-5 will start reeling that caddy in, but you must think well who will drive that fast. well i will and every single time, but thats besides the point. the caddy is quicker on lower speeds 0-130mph, but after that, the m-5 just begins to come alive

I saw a drag between both and it was pretty even, but maybe de CTS will be fastar around a lap, because in the end the CTS was made with the benchmark on the M5, so it shloud be a a bit faster. But you know, in the end i stay with the M5, the CTS can be very fast, but who cares, the M5 works like any other luxury saloon, much better build quality and materials, much more confortable. The CTS-V is very fast, but very hard and unconfortable, and in that way i prefer a real sports car

It's not quite the same. Alpinas are more than just tuned BMW's. They are whole different brand of cars. Alpina cars are registered as Alpina, not BMW. They are a registered car manufacturer.

All Japanese manufacturers register its racing and luxury departments as manufacturers. Like Honda make Acura (everywhere in the world Acura called Honda but not in US) Nissan register Infinity, Toyota register Lexus. If you want to be on biggest market in the world you have to do it. Need to do more research but i think Alpina has same history.

X5 have traction control problems. I use to be a big fan of BMW but change my mind after owning this car few times and all of them was cars with problems.

And up until the last generation an E60 M5 generated as much power as an SRT10. Uncomfortable? Now that is bullshit, until you press any of the buttons to put it into sports mode it's as comfortable as luxury saloon. It doesn't matter if no one notices you, i'd see that as a plus point. They're better looking than Viper's anyway.

Anything can be modified for additional power absolutely - how streetable it then is is another question - try driving a top fuel car to the shops.
What I was saying is that for minimal expense the GTR has the greatest ability for power increase and with AWD can put it down - I drive a supercharged Ford and power down is definately the limiting factor (but fun). The ZR1 returns amazing grip and lateral Gforce as does the ACR - for any 'dramatic' improvement though 'much' more needs to be spent.

ZRI and ACR are awsome, pity is they only just beat the GTR35 on the track and can can really not be modified much more - the GTR is in fairly basic tune and can get wicked up really easy - a retune adding boost can add 100hp and 150nm safely and take it into the 10's. I think thay need to take that round the ring! By the way, I'm not a Japper fan, I drive blown 8's only!!

It has such a low top speed due to short gearing and massive downforce. An ACR Viper is about one minute faster on the Nürburgring than an M6, one minute, meaning that the ACR Viper is lightyears faster on the track than an M6

Some of you need to get glasses or be more objective when you look at this video. First race the BMW took off first it appears. 2nd race was a much more even start and even with a horrible driver the Viper still pulled away dispite a misshift. BTW the Alpina is a modded BMW regardless vs a bone stock Viper. Run what you brung but lets be realistic people. Viper would win 10 out of 10 if the races were started evenly. The Viper driver misshifting and still pulling away speaks volumes.

Yep Earnhardt Dodge in Chandler AZ. Lied my ass off, showed my bank balance and drove one.
There is nothing that I have driven in 40 years of automotive experience that comes close. I worked for Ford SVO and did the fuel balance and EPA work on the Ford GT. I have almost 150 hours in the GT and friend the first time I nailed the throttle on the ACR I knew I had worked for the wrong people. Check out the Chrysler APG website.. if it still exists. peace.

I can tell you a company that owns Porsche. Where is this conversation going. When is the last time you've seen an Alpina? Its a rare breed that was build for luxury with a touch of power. Tell me a car that can handle like a sports car and carry 4 passengers for the price of a BMW or Alpina 5. This is an unfair race and the Alpina can keep up.

Closer then i expected it to be but the driver of the Viper was not amazing to say the least. If the cars had two top drivers the Viper would win everytime. Not a Viper lover but i know what this car can do and how it also not the easiest car to drive fast. But the new 08 Viper is a while nother story get some videos of that car taking out the CGT and SLR thats a 10 second 129+ mph beast cant believe they finally made something to take the C6 Z06 out

it depends very much who kicks first the throttle.
an half second is enough to decide who wins or not,these test u cant take too serious.
there should be 0-xxx races :-)

Of course it depends on wo gives gas first: most of the times the drivers are in synch, sometimes not. When the cars are very evenly matched every part second is important, as seen. At really high speeds and they cannot ovetake each other, then the cars are very similar.
0-xx race are alot more room for errors related to the start.

Yeah! A stock viper lost the first race to an Alpina B5, but not by much. Then it won the 2nd race. That's pretty good to me!! :D

LOL, the ACR Viper absolutey rapes any BMW on the track. The ACR Viper is about one full minute faster on the Ring than an M6, you heard right, one full minute!!!!!!!!!!!

Alpina cars are nothing to look down at .... They do amazing work to BMWs which allow them to take pure horsepower cars like the viper.
