This goes on because we the people are not holding our own MPP's to account. If you voted liberal, and you are against your own MPP supporting HST on hydro bills, write, don't call... write you mpp's office and the McGuinty Government and tell them that you were not consulted as to whether or not you support HST on hydro therefore you will not vote for them in the future. They represent us, not the other way around. They should consult on each vote... with the public.
Increased taxation to pay the interest on all the loans from the banksters for the money for all the construction projects. Canadians are amazing for 'taking it' again and again. Next is the EI, CPP, income taxes, uhh yeah! Cuts in everything else. Look at Europe. Whatever they can get away with there will be done here. Try two hundred, three hundred dollar road tax and municipal vehicle permits on toll roads and bridges. Gouge, slash and stomp. All government levels will be forced to comply
The HST is one of the worst economic decisions in history. Im a small business owner in Toronto and im being forced to lay off workers because fewer people can afford to actually go out and shop. Just down the street, a swiss chalet that has been there for 25 years just went out of business all together, as did many other businesses all in my area. And this all happened in the last 2 months. The HST doesn't help my business nor does it help anyone else's. Raising taxes in a recession? wow...
@treysparker I study a bit of economy in college, and I tend to disagree with what you said. Here why: in short-term, it does create some instabilities but this is volatile. In long term, this is somewhat more neutral since it replace another system of taxation with tax values that are similar.
What I think is; the blame should go on the recession, which is not-over yet due to fear of using capital to buy products, the market trend these commerce were on.
@therrydicule Then why are manufacturing companies relocating down to Mexico, or to Quebec? Is the recession, or is to lower operating cost? Also why is the cash business increasing all over Ontario, I have not studied economics, but I can tell you the HST is just another Liberal Tax Grab! Why HST on prepared food, not every Ontarian can afford these added costs. HST on fuel also increases prices on everyday needed items. You must not of gotten a passing grade if you think this is good.
@gto69tony1 For moving in Mexico, this is a longer trend that is not necessary linked to the HST, but more to globalization and to seek of profit by looking at a cost and benefice. Quebec? That Charest subsidizing them to create more job, otherwise they quit for Mexico or Vietnam. Why the HST applied on "on-the-go" food? Well, that purely bureaucratic: the RST was exempting them but not the GST and since the two merge together, they have to merge the exception.
@gto69tony1 Oh, and for the info: I don't know what you mean by liberal... It is not the Ontario liberal, tough: that a 1996 plan of McKenna, Savage and Brian Topin. It is not suppose to be a provincial issue more than a federal one, somehow... But, since taxes are mixed level and that the atlantique province wanted to save money on paper work - this is really all there is there, but since they save "x" maybe they should cut it a bit... Like 1% or 0.5% less.
@therrydicule So the trend of business moving out of the provinces has been an ongoing tread? They are moving out at a larger rate now. How can anyone stay in business while hydro rates double, added HST with no end in sight of more hikes. The Micro Fit program, what a disaster, Ontario should buy electricity from Quebec at a rate of about .6 kw and it's all green power generated from water. Instead lets spend Billions on wind mills that will produce only 1% of power usage.
@gto69tony1 It is not only moving out of the province, but nearly of the continent. It just does not worth much to made some cheap t-shirt in Canada or USA and pay $65 a day when you could pay someone in Vietnam $65 a month to do the same job. Just look where your clothe are made...
And, if you think that hydro and hst that causing a recession, well... I could tell you there is no job in Detroit, and the liberal are not there. Not that I like the Ontario liberal, but it's not all their fault.
@therrydicule Can you tell me who's at fault for the misleading solar and wind projects that were to bring 15000 jobs to Ontario? wheres the jobs? maybe installers for the equipment which is temporary. How about increased tax on fuel tax on tax on tax is this right to you? how about eco fee's, what a joke a bag of concrete that would cost $ 4.00 had a eco fee of $ 4.50 that's OK to you. People on fixed incomes are having a hard time paying their bills, these people helped build Canada.
@gto69tony1 I never say they were perfect, I'm not even saying that they are doing a good job... I'm just saying that there is some socio-economic factor behind the failure and, that, somehow, I just don't think that any party will do well in Ontario. Particularly on ecology they are not really attacking the most important problem - the urbanisation is so dependent on petrol when you have to take a 3 hours ride to go in downtown Toronto. What' you gonna do when the petrol will be at "WTF?!"
These poeple do not represent us, they clearly represent the corporations. The pc and the the ndps wil do the same in the end. Democracy? What a joke, Two wolfs and a sheep deciding what's for dinner.
McGuinty has just lost another vote! He is nothing but a lying scumbag and I will NEVER vote Liberal again. I can't AFFORD to!!! From Hamilton: McGuinty, I hope you burn in the next election. I hope the people of Ontario realize that they're dying a slow taxing death by debt!!!
Hudak makes all that noise about the HST and can't be bothered to get himself or half is MPP's out of bed for this vote.

How can the Liberals, or any other party, defend the practise of taxpayer funded corporations donating to their political campaigns? Outright theft!
And what exactly does management at these public utilities have to gain? Further privatization in hopes of fattening themselves personally, perhaps?
