brought a tear to my eye........they had relativly sad lives because of Harry H Corbett being typecast from this role, and Wilfred Bramble was a homosexual when society was very closed mind on the subject, he also was an alcoholic. Tears of a clown
@whakawhakapapa Never bothered me about Bramble being gay but i was hoping that the allegations made by the press in the last couple of years that Bramble was involved in the Jersey kids home sex abuse scandal is not true
I had heard that as well also that Bramble used to travel to the orient to have sex with young boys because they turned a blind eye to that sort of thing because the illegal sex trade brought in a lot more money than the legal houses of prostitution.
@gamewizard Yuk, well i hope they were the oldest possible near to legal age for their own country cos its vile to think of anyone preying on pre-pubescent kids
HHC and WB hated each other like Laurel and Hardy did in real life, a shame really. Great tune though, one of many Ron Grainer wrote, mostly for BBC TV shows in the 6Ts and7Ts. Thanks for posting it.
its a horrid misconception that L&H hated eachother, i can assure you they never did :) sadly, other comic teams are never so compatible... god bless ol' Steptoe and Son!
This claim was made many years ago, it was not my intention to cause offence to anyone or to the memory of Wilfrid Bramble and Harry H Corbett, as they are both no longer with us. I am not the only one who made this assertion in vsrious ways, please see others' comments on these pages.
@buddyfan1959 if you'd seen the documentary Curse of steptoe you would see that they did hate each other and were barely on speaking terms off stage and were never friends
Laurel and Hardy did NOT hate each other. They were very good friends in real life, more like brothers actually. Stan missed Ollie so much after he died that he continued to write new material for them up until his own death.
the bankers have come a long way.

Sounds a tad like "Interstellar Overdrive" was inspired by this eh?

it makes me sad that such a succesful show made two people ultimately hate one another
