@Ruzzhh There are definitely some origami shapes that look exactly like their creatures, and other shapes that are more "impressionistic painting" style. You can learn the ones which match your personal style!
@MrNortek It all takes practice! It often takes 3 or 4 tries at a given shape before it starts to look right. Get a fresh piece of paper and start again, you'll get the hang of it!
lisa, the background sound of lovebirds or parekeets are they real, -your pets? I'm so aware that cats you're making may not be friendly to them(birds). lo'l. -ed.
Black and white paper would be really hard to see, because you would have no way to judge angles! Really, try a few examples yourself. It's easiest to see when one side of the paper is lightly patterned, and the other is also lightly patterned (in a different pattern) :)
The thing is the videos can't go slow enough to meet everybody's needs - if they did they would bore 90% of the viewers :) But if you use the pause and rewind, that lets every level of folder use the same instructions. Make sure too if you're new to origami that you start with the more simple shapes! Start with the cup and the dove.
Do you mean how is the ending shape a cat shape? The two ears are pointing up, the tail is pointing right, and the cat has both front paws in together in front of her. There are no eyes, just a nose :)
You know, you might think that, but with plain colored paper in a YouTube video you can't see any of the folds or lines at all. They all blend into one solid mass of color. The patterns really give you the best chance of seeing where the paper overlaps. The DVD even more easier to see because it has the highest quality image. I did the best I could with YouTube's restrictions here.
If you mean your result was not cat-like, remember this is a harder shape. Practice with the helmet and crane first. Get those two down before you try this one.
Yup, that one was a bit dark and people asked me to do a better version of it. In fact if you look at my other cat video you'll see there is a comment on it telling people to come try this one if they need a better view :)
This was alot easyer for me to understand than your empress one, my cat turned out perfect^_^ thanks xx

Thanks for the second video, though it would be cool if you learned the 3D one that stands up, instead of laying flat :D

excuuuuse me, but we don't have the same type of paper you do. What line do I fold it on to make the ear???
CatsR2cool 3 years ago
It's not a matter of folding on "a line" on the paper. Really for the ears it is completely up to you, how you think it looks best :)

I'm glad you're finding it helpful! You can make a whole family of cats and kittens by using paper of different sizes.
