  • @ushireborn

What makes you say or believe that Dr. Jerry Alan Johnson is a fraud?

    @HiddenPalm

Run a google search for Jerry Alan Johnson and you will get all the info you need on what he is up to these days.

He is moving very slow in these vids for the camera and the public.

  • LOL in the beginning I thought: tracking.. Tracking is known for its... "lool fail

  • how people still believe in frauds like this is beyond me.

  • @ushireborn Why what happened? I havent heard anything from him since the early 90's.

  • @HiddenPalm He is still around... And what makes him a fraud ushireborn? You make statements without proof or explanation of personal experience.

  • look at the drop at 2:01, watch the opponent. That's is really cool :)

  • This is a great video. I like the different expressions of Pa Kua.

  • That is outstanding Pa Kua!

  • its so fun to watch goofy americans play dress up and pretend that they're

chinese and they know pa kua!!

  • @bigkittysmile What's really interesting is why anyone would want to imitate this stuff. The world is waiting for a chinese martial artist to demonstrate, through full contact mma fights, that it has even a chance against a well rounded multi-disciplinary fighter. So far none has made it past the beginners ranks of world class full contact competition.

  • @in2food chinese pa kua is what it is and mma is what it is. most mma isnt that great in terms of real martial arts.

  • @in2food You live in the United States, right? Well yeah me too. Our television programming doesnt show us any fighting bouts from China or anywhere else in the world. China has MMA bouts and they show it on their TV programming. They are saying what youre saying. The world is waiting for the marketed UFC guys to compete over there. It's a big world. Get Chinese language packs 4 your pc so you can see translations and then just copy n paste to search on utube. 56.com has even more fights.

  • Wonderful video. Thank you for posting this. It is informative on many levels.

  • Stop the arguments let them go into the caged circle and see what happens, and it is true that many good internal masters are ass holes, you know who I'm talking about.let people practise the internal arts and let them get what ever it is that they will get out of it Can you please tell me who taught JAJ. Hell their is probably some guy living in the mountains of India who can take all of these guys with out even touching them, who knows, who cares.

  • Wow another needless pissing contest- after 35 years of training the same stuff: Look plane and simple after a while of seeing this stuff it all starts to look a like because it is- just different expressions. Guys like Peter Ralston, BKF, they went where you all have yet to go and none of us are them, meaning your experience although similar will be different not perfect because the perfection is about evolving- fights, fighting, war is not sustainable learn to look beyond the oohh and ahs

  • Thanks for this interesting video on Chinese arts. I am training for my black belt in Hapkido/Aikido, and many of these techniques you demonsrate are familiar to me, only with Korean or Japanese names. You can see the inter-relatedness of the arts!

  • Your welcome my brother!

  • Jerry Alan Johnson is extremly advanced

  • בנזונה

  • As a long term practitioner of T'ai Chi and Bagua, I can say that Jerry's embodiment is seriously lacking. His movement is disconnected and Kevinguillo rightly points out that he has many gaps in his postures. He does not know how to bridge, he uses excessive force, his projections are very muscular and have no subtlety. I have seen truly world class players like Luo De Xiu, Bruce Kumar Frantzis, Su Dong Chen, Peter Ralson, Wong Jack Man, Sonny Umpad, Sam Chinn, Akuzawa Minoru etc.

  • Bruce Kumar Frantzis?!?! People still talk about that guy?

  • Kumar is the real deal. He is easily one of the most skilled internal arts practitioners in the US.

  • In my opinion, there is no one better than Park Pok Nam. You want Ba Gua, go to him. Kumar is about as believable as John Painter (not very).

  • LOL!

  • I am sorry but Johnson keeps himself centerd , hands are always in front of his center where the power is.

  • Arbizm, don't apologize ... trust me. I don't wish to start an on line argument with MonekyAries, but some of what he calls "world class players" is not really all that.

  • absolutely right ......"world class players"

what does Wong Jackman have to do with Bagua ? He is a Northern Kung Fu man.Johnson is a Bagua man ,if you comment on an issue you should at least know the people you mention.

  • Actually, Wong Jackman has a deep background in T'ai Chi and Hsing-I besides Northern Shaolin. My comment is that Wong Jackman is a truly gifted martial artist who still can perform at an extremely high level. I never claimed that Wong Jackman was a Bagua person. However, he does embody high level internal principles that all internal arts (Hsing-I, T'ai Chi and Bagua) should express.

  • you REALLY should look into Jerry Alan Johnson, my friend. perhaps it's YOUR training that has been lacking.

he's one of the best, if not THE BEST, you will ever find.

btw, due to kumar's lack of control of his internal power, Johnson had to hand him his ass once.

no one's work is more comprehensive than JAJ. his books are even setting the standard in china! no joke. JAJ is as real as it gets, and he's miles beyond Kumar.

i wouldn't be surprised if Kumar admitted this himself.

  • I would agree that JAJ books on medical qiqong are excellent. The commentaries about Kumar are interesting. Did you actually personally witness this exchange between Kumar and JAJ? Unless you did, I would be careful about claiming this as a fact. I have met Kumar several times and I know that his skills are real. I have had the fortune to meet very gifted practitioners and JAJ has many fundamental errors in these videos. Granted, these videos are old and he MAY be better right now.

  • real vs not real isn't the issue here. it was a long time before kumar had enough control to stop hurting his students with his discharges.

just because kumar's abilities are real doesn't put him on the level of JAJ.

and no, i didn't witness the encounter first-hand, so i guess as far as you're concerned it never happened. i won't bother trying to make the point.

    i'll just say this:

ask him yourself. just generally, ask him what he thinks of Jerry Alan Johnson.

    then get back to me.

  • @MonkeyAries -In regards to BK Frantzis, his fajin videos turned me off and also his attitude. Jerry Johnson knows his shit. You should read his medical qigong book. I don't see anything wrong his apps presented here.

  • looks like ballet.

  • Very poor applications. Sad use of PaKua... Not even a scrap of real offense was used. Poor poor showing of what is a beautiful martial art and very effective. My Sifu and I are very very disappointed with this, especially on youtube...

  • I believe that people who critize sifu johnson's application characterizing them as not practicle must not have actual fighting experience themselves. You may argue that what he showes is not "orthodox" bagua (perhaps influenced by hsing i, which would be typical of a JRQ/ sun style baqua person) but it does work. His counters are all executed in one beat, involve his entire body in motion and end with the opponent on the ground. Put up or shut up concerning combat viability.

  • Great vid,

im starting pa kua this night so i was researching about it´s caracteristics.

    the phoenix rules!

  • Wow

  • Sifu Jerry Alan Johnson was a full contact san shou champion in the 80's for like 4 yrs then he retired he's not coming out his ass he's been tested and he is indeed the real deal

  • I love the Youtube experts...Jerry Alan Johnson has been doing baguazhang since the 1970s, and IIRC was very good judo and karate practicioner prior to starting the internal arts.

  • - he makes pre-signals before his attacks

    - he leaves many holes in which he can be hurt

    - his kness, head, elbows, shoulders, hips, and waist can't deliver powerful blows, since they aren't linked together... he's not able to be rooted...

  • -you can't guard everything all the time and be rooted 100% of the time, you have to move

-everyone sends signals, even if they are minimized. And I don't see where his signals are long enough to matter.

-this guy is fantastic, if you can't see that, it's too bad for you, because he is... i'm not even affiliated with his school. He's plain good.

  • I agree! What's with the kung fu movie moves before the attack/defense???

so choreographed in a bad way. Not good pa-kua chang

  • Oops!!! Type-0...

  • I love this Art!!! Im a student My-Self, and from experiance working at the Bars in Orange, Ca... It works to My advantage, wonderfully!!! This art is not to be under-0estimated...

  • monkey looks really good.

  • now why is it. . .a black guy was used for the monkey demo? That's like having all black people in a KFC commercial. . .LOL

  • About the Pa Kua for combat comment. You are not supposed to use Pa Kua on its own, it is part of the three sisters. Pa Kua's rounded chi, Tai chi's reception of chi, and Hsing-i for attack.

  • Pakua is its own system, ya know eight trigram boxing. Tai chi grand ultimate fist. Hsing-I Mind form boxing. Each very distinct, but sometimes combined. Each has all aspects of attack and defense. each a complete system. And this is a great demonstration of pakua in application.

  • good wushu throws

  • This guy was crazy. He used to charge money for people to fight him. They always came out messed up. He's not the typical 'white dude' asian martial arts guy.

  • great stuff!!!!

  • agreed. i trained with his class for a year here in taiwan, and he instills more than a "false sense of security" in anyone he comes in contact with, seasoned martial artists and newcomers alike. if he hit you, ConcerningThe, you might think differently about bagua's uselessness. you dont see many taiwanese or chinese bagua fighters on tv in UFC or whatever its called. they have their own fights here, with no cameras, etc...

  • ConcerningThe,

You have obviously never heard of Luo de Xiu or any of his students. It's never a good idea to extrapolate from limited data to absolute conclusions.

  • well narrated and explained, well done

  • Not bad, but do they have to do it with all the flare and fancy uniforms? I mean whats wrong with a t-shirt and sweatpants lol.

  • not a thing. this is just more traditional. i don't see why though, they were never meant as uniforms, they were just regular chinese dress

  • Part A

Nice introduction to form application. This sifu seems to know what he is talking about and the point that both him and his art have a lot to offer gets across. Please post more!!!

  • it gets the concept of form application across. You can tell this sifu knows what he is talking about and that he is just giving a quick introduction of an art and a man that have a lot to give. Please post more!!!

  • Pa Kua is good for physical fitness and focus but virtually useless for actual combat (I've seen it, it ain't pretty). It is excellent for building flexibility and discipline however and it is beautiful to watch. I just hate to see people actually interested in combat martial arts get suckered into a false sense of security with these arts.

  • Well, ive seen Pa kua used in san shou, though i agree overall it isn't ideally TAUGHT for actual combat, though it most certainly does exist.

  • If you understand what your being taught and train it.Then you can use it for combat. MOST people can't use their martial art for what it is nowadays.

  • I think that you should have some experience and understanding of what you are talking about before commenting. I have nearly 30 years martial arts experience and have found Bagua to be as devastating as anything I've done bar none

  • He was my teacher, I learned a lot from him. Trust me,the video is so basic for him, he was someone you wouldn't want to mess with.

  • oh-.-

  • Wonderfull video!very instructive! ty for the techniques!Upload more videos plz!
