I own a 2005 Mitsubishi outlander, completed 136000km recently it was recommended that I replace the rear upper control arms and rear lateral links, after doing that I get a lot of creaky noise from the behind, very severe as it goes over bumps. Anybody out there with this type of problem, would like to know.
Toyota & Mitsu has extensive history of building SUV(Land Cruiser & Pajero). Not too many technical car buyers now a days. Thats why CRV is popular due to word of mouth, coz everyone & their mother has a civic or accord (I'm guilty too) for buying a 2006 CRV. But year 2009 it won't happen again. I ended up with an 09 SE 4WD over a tight decision between two other very credible units like RAV4 & Forester. Remember, Honda is not the brand 2 go for if u want a 4WD/AWD feature. Do your research.
i was almost sold on a rav-4 v6 until i came across this. outstanding reliability, 10 year warranty, as good or better looking, more tech, more sporty, better sound system for less . only slower in a straight line. but a better drive i think. plus paddle shifters and no one has one in my neighborhood.
A Touareg is more money, and is a step better. One more thing to keep in mind is that Touareg takes premium fuel + gets less miles to the gallon. For the money, Outlander is it. For performance and overall fit and finish, Touareg takes it.
what are you talking about man , i mean , the touareg as is own looks and the cayenne too. The cayenne is more of a sports car . The touareg is more of a luxery vehicule. ... anyway , thats your opinion and i wont change it....
Mitsubishi is going under, so you can't beat the deal on these. I saw these in LA for 15,500 0 percent and a 10 year warranty. I am going to buy a suv in a few weeks and I think this is the one, of course i am going to offer them 11,999.
Are you kidding me? Can yopu buy a 2007 model outlander for under 15000 dollars? I checked the used pages here in Norway, and a 2005 model cost about 55000 dollars.
We have had our Outlander since August 2007 and WE LOVE IT! On the open road, in 2 wheel drive, it averages 27 to 30 mpg depending on terrain and wind...and it has enough clearance that it can go on most back roads with ease...in the weather, the all wheel drive on the fly is excellent...we have the sound and sun package and love the stereo and the open roof...very comfortable!
Yes, it is a family-oriented vehicle, but one of the selling points for me is that with its relatively powerful engine, it has a towing capacity of 3500 lbs...enough for a sport boat! Plus it still gets 19/25 MPG?! Sounds like a steal!
mainly meant for children, although im not sure why companies are insisting on making crossovers 7 seaters now, ruining the point. buy a van or large suv lol
alot of people want 7 seats for the once a year they need them, and its making a difference in sales, this is why these companies are offering. for me having 7 seats is only a bonus if you can easily hide them for cargo room, mitsu has it right.
Can somebody who has driven cars with these engines give me any idea which one is better: the 2.0 VW TDI or Peugeot's 2.2 HDI? I like the look of the Outlander and since it is equipped with both these engines I have trouble deciding which is best. Are the differences in economy too great? (In terms of performance I know the HDI gives some 20hp more) And what about overall reliability? Thanks!
I have had the Elegance version for about a year, unfortunately the UK version does not have the option of automatic transmission and the six speed manual takes some getting used to.
The car is ok though nothing to get excited about - bland would be a good description.
I have been watching this vehicle.... The new model has been very reliable... Consumer reports show outstanding reliability... I would take this cuttie to RAV4 or CRV any day...
This is a great family vehicle. Nice ride, great extras (leather, nav system, environmental sensors, bluetooth, voice recognition, keyfree doorlocks.) kickass sound system, Plenty of interior room for your growing kids. I would recommend anyone looking for a crossover to test drive this vehicle and see for yourself
One thing I notice the old Outlander tail light resemble the shape of my 2004 Subaru wrx and for 2008 it has the same look alike LED tail light as the new WRX. look to see for your self if you don't belive me.
isnt this thing a family car? why the heck there is V6 inside? dont understand why the americans are unnecessarily after huge engines. 2.2 TD is a very good option for compact SUVS like Land Rover has it for Freelander2 (TD4)
i have to say my dad got one of this def real nice and the paddle shift is crazy really good job by mitsu although i have to say im not blown away by the looks but other then that seems great i have to admit
I had a chance to experience one of these vehicles at the 2007 Indy Auto Show, and I was blown away. The Rockford-Fosgate stereo SMOKES anything else I've ever heard as factory equipment. The (magnesium) paddle shifters rock....in short...I WANT THIS VEHICLE!!
Yeah, outlander's @ss looks like sta fe's front. japanese copying korean? maybe you need to wake up from your daydream. hyundai sh!t didn't enter dakar, why? it won't last a day in the dakar? get ur facts straight.
These car need to climb hills and a little bit of rock crawling. Good for snow too but none of these car is even close to the Forester XT in performance handiling capability.
Nice review. I was impressed by the reviewers ability to drive while reviewing the car out the driver-side window. I'd be afraid to crash it AND have video evidence of it for the insurance company. :-D
honestly didnt think i would enjoy learning about this vehicle...i must say i was impressed - then again, mitsubishi always gets the job done with all of their vehicles. don't think ill be buying tho - unlike the reviewer, a vehicle's appearance is a major factor for me.
Brought one 09 and loving today

Hard to find tests that tests the CVT 4 cyl version.
The 6 cyl apparently is *quite* the pig on gas, and Mitsubishi is lying through their teeth with their pants on fire about fuel economy....

you will will be getting alot more mpg than 19/25 more like 35/40 thats what i get from mine

That sounds like the 4 cylinder model without AWD. I'm talking about the 2007-08 models with the 3.0 l V6.

VW TDI is much noisier but uses 1,5l/100km less. That is I think the most important difference.
