Im in cali and i called Los angeles BATFE and california dept of justice bureau of firearms and botj said they dont see anything wrong with using gutted airsoft shells as dress up kits. They said to make sure its not an assault weapon. 16" minimum barrel length. 26" minimum overall length. No short barreled rifle. No supressor. 10 round mag. No full auto. They told me follow penal code 30515 and make sure its not a Class 3 / Title II assault weapon.
awesome man. I did a 10/22 conversion with a Barrett M82 , M14 EBR, M249 SAW, and Beretta RX4 Storm. Other .22 conversions using a Marlin 795 with a M60, UMP, SCAR, TAR21, and Barrett M99. I have pics and video.
how will you make a magazine for it and how will you eject the magazine considering the action is inside a bunch of plastic? just wonderin cus if it works I might just do that myself
@DramaticGnome1210 I make a hole through the bottom and I use a 25 round mag that fits up in there nicely. I have an extended mag release lever that I can reach to pop the mag out. It's easy after a few times.
@blingblingjon34 He's not making anything. He's putting on a stock, even changing parts. Not illegal. When you machine a receiver, which is the part that's actually registered and considered a firearm, now that's different.
@cliffcox66 That isn't illegal either; you are well within the law to make any legal firearm (something that meets federal and state law) you please, as long as you don't make them with the intent to sell. For that, you need to get a manufacturers license ($3000/yr) and keep records of firearms produced.
I think p90's look weird, but that's one hell of a creative conversion.

is this not illegal because i would think this is unless your lisensed to manufacture firearms

@blingblingjon34 It is just like changing your stock on any other gun. As long as you keep the dimensions with in what your state allows.
