i remember when the tornado just opened ! the part where your camera goes mad was the corkscrew section which they removed a few years after the ride opened. I think this is because you could end up with brain damage at that part due to the way your head bounced off the safety bars lol. bad design so they removed the corkscrew but the ride is pathetic now.
@Icecool851 - the corkscrew was there when I rode it! That's why the camera cracked up. It is the only time I have ever had an error message come up on my camcorder when filming on-ride.
@chloes9704 - I didn't find it scary...just painful. I know they have since removed the third inversion (corkscrew) which should have made it more rideable, but haven't ridden it since this recording was made.
Come on people give the rollercoaster a chance yes of course Alton Tower and Thorpe Park are going to be better (I would love to go to Thorpe Park really) because they are run by the same company "Tusssauds". I really liked this ride I went on it a few months ago they have made it less rattly and it doesnt hurt you're head as much. Still its better than Twist 'n' Shout at Louden Castle
@JRBouncerz2010 - Alton and Thorpe are owned by Merlin. Tussauds was bought out by Merlin Entertainment group in 2007 (and Loudoun Castle is closed permanently)...shame this coaster at M&Ds is still going...at least the removal of the 3rd inversion has reputedly made it more bearable than it used to be. Still my worst coaster-ride ever.
@davidjellis Louden Castle isnt closed permanetly my little cousin went last year and everything was fine. Still Tornado is still awsome to me because it was the first rollercoaster I had ever ridden and now I love rollercoasters thanks to this ride.
@JRBouncerz2010 - Loudoun Castle closed at the end of last season, sadly. I went there a few years ago, and enjoyed my visit, but sadly it is now closed. Check out their website loudouncastle-online.co.uk
Haha, I'm Scottish and this is all we got. In general M&D's is one of the worst parks ever, would love to one day go down to Alton Towers or Thorpe park or whatever but until then this is the best we have!
ITS FUCKING PISH! M&DS IS PISH IT'S FULL OF NEDS AND ALL THE RIDES ARE TERRIBLE!
This ride in all seriousness, ripped the bottom of my right ear, came off and the blood was gushing out of it, i don't have any pierceings etc. It's a coaster thats needing the scrapheap, along with the rest of that shity theme park!
I completely agree with you. I rode this a week ago. My head was banging off the restraints, my ears suddenly became hot because of the friction and your neck gets ripped around. Horrible ride. I came out with bruises behind my ears. Tsunami is nice and smooth though.
There are three other coaster manufactures that manufacture these type of brutal torture devices and they are Arrow Dynamics, Togo, and Zamperla. Unfortunately Arrow and Togo are long gone.
Whilst in general terms that is true, I have ridden good Arrow coasters, some pretty good Togo coasters and plenty of not-so-bad Zamperlas. B&M build great steelies, but their first ride, a stand up coaster, is a pile of poo. I have ridden some ok Pinfaris too, so the generalisation doesn't always run true.
I disagree...that was very painful last time I rode it. I preferred Viper at Magic Mountain, or even Shockwave at Great America when it was there...but my favourite Arrow looper is Fantasia Special, at Tongdo Fantasia in South Korea...three consecutive corkscrews and two vertical loops to finish with...smooth and very re-rideable.
So would british/scottish people prefer getting a severe beating from a british hedmaster at strict boarding school in stead of riding this? Is that how bad it is? By the way i LOVE PINFARI! The classical carnival colorful fealing of the roller coasters takes me bak to childhood! I would marathon on this NO QUESTIONS ASKED!!!
No questions asked...but I have one question to ask...why would anyone want to marathon on this. I enjoy Pinfaris but trust me, this machine was brutal!
The corkscrew had to be removed cause someone broke there back on it, so the overbanked turn is not a piece of shit cause its safety! If they had kept that inversion in any longer the ride probably would have been refurbished anyway!
Then again I don't know why they didn't take the corkscrew out sooner to PREVENT that accident from happening! In stead of that person having to get injured first before the removal!
The camera did jump...it was so rough that coaster. The next time I filmed on it the camcorder cut out altogether with a fatal error message...this is the only ride ever to have caused me a fatal camcorder error. Totally understand how someone could have got injured, but I don't recall it being worse than Son of Beast, which was my most uncomfortable ride ever.
Never been on Son of Beast it looks rough though, I'm going to M&Ds today acctually, so im going to ride, Tornado, Tsunami (which wasn't out when this coaster was filmed, and other rides most probably!
Tornado was bloody bruetal trust me sitting at the back of the train throws you at the back alot, but it was fun though when we was going up the lift, me and my dad were sitting at the back and as soon as we got to the top, it yanked us full speed right down the drop near missing the other track piece, cause the front is slower but as it kicks in speed the back pulls you down with force unexpectingly!!
They took the corkscrew out for the 2006 season, and all other POV`s of this ride onh youtube have bean filmed AFTER that! GOD! You are totally kick ass awsome!!!! They replaced it with some stupid overbanked turn or some shit!
The removal of the 3rd invesrion was to make the ride a bit more rideable...haven't been back there since. In my humble opinion, something had to be done about it...bulldozing seemed the best solution. I reckon people had tried to get POV years ago but found it was just to violent to film on...I found it challenging, and I am experienced with on-ride filming.
By the way you ever heard of that about a few rides getting removed from the park?
Cause once the ride Jammin' which was a spinning coaster got refurbished into Mine Train and moved at a different spot of the park, cause its previous space the ride White Water log flume and in the space were Mine Train was the Kami Kaze and twister were removed from the park. Also Jammin's ride sign got recyled into a crazy golf course sign!
YOU ARE MY HERO!!! A TOTAL SAINT! I have bean looking for a POV of this coaster WITH the corkscrew for 3 years! Finally my soaked crazy wet dream has been forfilled! Please respond to my comment! DAVID! I worship you!!!! By the way the worst coaster in Europe is the Goudurix Vekoma 7-looper at the Asterix Parc in France! First Comment!
Well...hero...I don't know! I prefer watching the POV to actually riding it. I actually found Gouderix pretty rideable when I visited the park two years ago, but it has got a bit of a reputation. Tornado was dreadful...no redeeming features at all.
M&d's isn't pathetic.. It's brilliant considering I go every month :DD

I live 5 minutes away from M&D's and it is awful. I've been once and The Tornado is a joke, you just get boxed about in your seat.
