  • This is GREAT!

  • My favorite Stooges song! Live! Fuck yeah!

  • Jesus Love The Stooges...

  • my idol.

  • Holy FUCK!

    AMAZING PERFORMER

  • offbeat

  • @Koolkitties yeah but still fucking GREAT

  • haha "lead stooge is ah....freaked out....n...jumped over duh fence....lost power, to the amp."

  • this is when they sacked Dave Alexander, and there is NO bass on this

  • kinda loses its rarity when its posted on youtube, don'tcha think? thnx tho!

  • @candlewhiskey how do you figure that....rare shit is cool to find especially this old!

  • I guess you can say Iggy invented punk rock

  • his ribs were clearly visible. in a cute way.

  • At last some footage of Iggy Pop doing one of those famous back flips

  • FUUUCK I LOVE SMOKING WEED!!!!!!

  • Now *that* is the real RAW POWER. Bass is barely hearable but the Asheton brothers are tearing it up -- Scott's rock solid with great fills and Ron is pushing the envelope to the very edge. This band meant what they were doing.

  • KISKING ASS!! HAIL TO IGGY POP!!

  • The hippie shit sure got integrated into mainstream in the 70's. Then Reagan total BS struck and they got obliterated.

I am a true fan of Stooges truth. But I sure as hell prefer hippie dreams to Reagan BS.

  • Saw iggy live at The NORVA (Norfolk Va) on halloween night 2000, i still remember that show above all others( and i've seen over 160 live acts) great venue with awesome acoustics, before that night i knew some iggy tunes but as of this halloween i've been a hard core fan for 10 years. THANK YOU IGGY...and just incase she ever runs across this (ex-sister-n-law) THANK YOU AMY!!!

  • Iggy stuck a shiv in the Heart of the Love generation. I grew up in Detroit and got to see him many times at The Grande,The Rock and Roll Farm, The Primo Showbar where he did a gig with the Bob Seger System one night. Saw the Detroit reunion tour too and almost lost my fucking mind when he started the set with Loose. There ain't a rocker in the world who can do what he does and he's over 60 and still takes no hostages.

  • LOL - more proof that punk was no where near a British invention. Great stuff!

  • True... And I'm English.

The pistols started up playing Stooges covers. Say no more!

  • Yes I know he shot guns and dope. Drank like a fish. Looks like a walrus & got a new liver?kidney? Just saying he got all fat and rich and was and is a Hippy. All part of the anti War/ Peace and Love area crap.,Two Tards but IgGy was the complete opposite and was part of the end of that area. When IgGy and The Stooges got inducted into The Rockin Roll Hall of Fame/Shame. The First thing IgGy siad was" Hey Woodstock" and Gave The Finger with both hands. Not a fan. I did like Norm Crosby Though.

  • Love it.

    So far beyond their time!

  • Would have been a great band to see in their prime.

  • @Technosphile

Just saw the stooges last night- they are still in their prime.

  • the greatest ever!

  • Wish I was born 25 years earlier. Because I lived only 8 miles away from Goose Lake.

  • He who angers you controls you. LOL...Mission accomplished. I cannot cotinue to lower my mentality superiority to you,,im on a much higher plane in all aspec6ts of phsychological phases...Later Faggott

  • @wichititty1 are you still talking?

  • Again fucktard i will reiterate my point that numerous musicians were inspired to perform due to others. BFD,,Thats rich ?. Use the english language properly you nonintellectual, Suck whaat ?..I detect homsexual tendecies.

  • totally new to iggy pop and the stooges...just listening to them after reading trainspotting....whats this song called, its so good!

  • the song is called '1970'.

  • Thanks for sharing this man. The old Stooges stuff is SO RARE and love this footage!

  • I wonder if this was Goose Lake? Dave Alexander was fired after that gig because he was too stoned and forgot all the songs. I don't hear any bass on this track.

  • igg was inspired by the doors

  • I can't tell whether Iggy and the Stooges were so unbelievably ahead of their time, or whether all of punk and grunge just ripped them off and ran with it.

  • Ok,,in MY OPINION...& where is Jim now ?,,Iggy still rocks after over 40 years..Morrison became a bloated washout who wanted to fuck his own mother & now is taking the eternal dirt nap

  • dude iggy was sik by far the best but show some respect for the lizard king man its not morissons fault that he had to be in the 27 club

  • True that erojas. The Igster was a homeless heroin addict living in a parking garage in L.A. after Raw Power days. Morrison gave him a leather jacket to stay warm. The Lizard King was brilliant as well. Loved L.A. Woman LP. I here the Stooges made the rock & roll hall of fame ? Peace

  • lets be honest. jim obviously didnt want to fuck his mother, you'd have to be pretty ignorant to believe that. he was reciting greek tragedy. and as much as you dont want to admit it, no matter the fact that morrison died young (so did hendrix, make him any less incredible? no) iggy wouldnt have done anything without jim morrison

  • Yea well just to sing of that is pretty fucked up,,true Morrison & Hendrix were very talented,, ,,as far as you saying Iggy wouldnt have done anything without Morrison we could find something of nearly every famous singer who would fit that in regards to support & inspiration from other groups so that theory of yours is pretty damned ignorant in itself...I refuse to have a battle of wits with an unarmed person,,LOL

  • NEWSFLASH- rock and roll is meant to be fucked up, you dont think iggy was fucked up? the whole point, its what its meant to be. a battle of wits with an unarmed person?...thats rich coming from someone who said jim morrison was bloated washout. its true, iggy would not have become a singer unless he saw jim morrison, he's said so himself along with plenty of other people around him even in this documentary. so suck my juicy ballsack

  • Iggy,,,The most powerful unique performer ever

  • thats a pretty big statement....what about jim morrison? iggy says he basically was trying to be him..

  • iggy ven a peru , please

  • lmao I love it, Iggy screaming "Outta my mind on a Satruday Night!" at some hippies. Wish there was more footage from '69 and '70 of The Stooges.

  • i feel allright-yeah iggy you're the best most underrated master of celebration !!!

  • pure emotion of the best live performer beside Tom Waits and a hand full more-But Iggy's the botn Live performer .He rocks the crowd 110%

  • Comment removed

  • i saw iggy at goose lake..i'm pretty sure this is from that..it was a 3 day festival ala woodstock..in michigan...

  • this video is better than Cincinnati Pop Festival

    thanks

  • Fantastic footage (although not much happens), I've never seen it, there isn't much around anyway. The audience must have thought the aliens had landed; not many bands sounded like that in 1970. There were Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath... the MC5, Blue Cheer, but nobody sounded as violent, alienated, industrial as The Stooges of the Funhouse era.

Thank you so much for the post

  • iggy on top form - great archival footage!

  • what song is this?

  • "1970"

  • thanks

  • Also known as I Feel Alright - let me add - as The Damned's cover, which ends their first album

  • Iggy's looking tired in this one. Not his usual self.

  • hes usually drank a 40 and on 5 different things

  • i just finished reading open up and bleed, its a great read check it out

  • Im reading Open Up and Bleed right now, I had no idea Iggy did so much acid and dmt!

  • An older friend of mine who was a big Blue Oyster Cult fan back in the day saw a triple bill in 1973 (in NYC) of BOC, the Stooges and Kiss - when no one knew who Kiss was yet. They had all the costumes and make-up and everything - so they were all the rage that night, but of course Iggy raged, too. And BOC wasn't too shabby in those days either.

  • This was shot at the Goose Lake International Music Festival held from August 7 to August 9, 1970, in the Leoni Township of Jackson, Michigan. I was there and everytime Iggy went over the barrier and into the audience the power from the amps and P.A. was turned off. Not sure why...

  • the quality is so bad hear it looks like some strange animation

  • Iggy's energy and performance is sooo inspiring.

RIP Ron Ashton, we luv you ALWAYS, if i was there I'd suck your ....

  • the weird colours of this video give it a very eerie and dangerous look

  • Totally strange and bazaar when he's choking himself with the cord!!

  • I wonder what the hippies thought seen this.

  • The Stooges induced bad trips. Guaranteed.

  • my mates and i thought the whole hippy thing was a pile of shit , this and Black Flag and Dead Kennedies RUled my airwaves

  • Iggy Pop back soon! let me break you boot of motherfuckers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!uhuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuh i fell alright

  • All the hippy's got rich and fat. IgGy just kept on Rocking and Kicking Ass. Big fat phoney creeps they all turned out to be. All peace and love and let's eat grass p*ssys. Hippy's like David Crosby....Big porka.> Farting on his couch on a hill somewhere. Doooy. Hippy-critt IGgy's still hanging out. Wearing the same size Dungee's. Twisting - jumping & Rolling around like a Rockin Roll Retard. For the fun of it. God bless him IgGy......Your alright Brother.
  • This is fucking HILARIOUS! You are a POET.

  • @WhiteBoy41

Well, as one who saw Iggy, The Sex Pistols, Clash, Black Flag, etc. in their prime I'm here to tell ya that David Crosby has burned through more drugs, bonked more groupies, done crazier shit, driven faster, done more jail time, fired off more illegal weapons etc than you, me and Iggy Pop put together. He's a flat out natural born wild man, and that's a fact .

    With all respect.

  • @ozruby yeah and sounds like a bitch.

  • SOOOOOOOOOO not HIPPIE! Thank God!

  • caralho!!!!!

  • Is this from Goose Lake?

    RIP RON

  • yea in Michigan

  • omg omg too beautiful

  • PUNK!

  • I HATE HIPPIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But the stooges are the best punk band of all time

  • fuck you. punk is not all. prog and pyschedelic music (hippies) is a great gift to history rock music. Punk music is only another music style or attitude

  • shhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

    DIE HIPPY DIE HIPPY DIE!!!!!!!!

Go listen to Simon and Garfunkle while smoking on a joint talkin 'bout how "crunchy" your tunes are, whilst contributing nothing to society.Ya Lil Shit Stain.

I'm not talkin bout hendrix, im not talkin bout Floyd being hippies.

I'm talking bout the dirty greasy uncivilized primates that claim to be human that slumabout the gutters of san fran cisco.

    LIKE YOU!!!!

(no disrespect to the stooges)-they werent hippie!

  • hey man, punk is 0$ anti-stablishment, childish, heroinmaniac... hippies was a real counter-culture, punk is pure heart working man- stupid junkie-truerockandroller.. ridiculous, like all punks, you are ridiculous. Stablishment used punks against true public enemies, hippies

  • Blow out St. Peter's eardrums Ron. RIP. Stooges Forever!!

  • at end of clip (during solo) it sounds like Ron "lost power on the amp"! ;)

  • RIP Ron

    Thanks for the music.

(killer solo at the end of this clip)

sad sad day for Rock n Roll...

  • if anyone can find heroin by iggy and the stooges please send it to me!

  • whats the song?

  • It's called "1970".

  • I was definitely there! WAs a total blast of a weekend!

  • last night i wuz down in the lab...talkin' 2 dracula and his crew...yer right stingray...everything is shit, or at least everything that's being passed off as rock & roll today.

  • Everything is shit, no one has any balls today, don't get me started.....

  • I think I was at this show! Should be Goose Lake Rock Festival, summer of 1970 in rural Michigan....thanks for the emories, since I remember practiaclly nothing of thier set....too much acid.....hehehe

  • Please Fabrizio....give this some low EQ.

Just put the sound through some

    music editting software.

  • whoa! on the side it says iggy pop and nico!

iggy pop and nico did a song together? no way!

  • Iggy and Nico did more than SONGS together ;)

  • They drank wine together!

  • awesome!!!

but i think when it comes to heroin, i like the velvet underground better. but man, this one rocks. i guess it just depends on what mood im in...

  • go Iggy! shake those hippies!

  • Thanks for posting this rare footage man, Scott Asheton's drumming sounds incredible! I don't understand some comments:1)This song is called 1970, also known as I Feel Alright (on The Damned's first album)2)The sax-player is Steve McKay who played on The Stooges 2nd album, FunHouse, recorded at the same time as this gig 3)Somebody wrote that he liked the Velvets' version better, but they never did this song 4)The Stooges didn't like the California scene, but everyone was a "Hippie" back then...

  • wow. rare alright. iggy doing the hippie fest? iggy and the stooges is my favorite band, but i have to say i think i like the velvet underground version better

  • ... helped to wipe out the sixties looking forward to the future ...

  • Iggy, ron and scott asheton hated hippies

  • and Dave Alexander too :)

  • shame on me :(

  • How would you know...You're only 52.

  • Say what you want about the Stooges, but they make a lot of the hippie shit look so passe. Funhouse, fuck yeah.

  • What song is this?

  • 1970

  • Note a sax player 2:22.

  • ...yeah...

  • iggy rare dance at the end krishna

  • WOW, those hippies must have been terrified with Iggy

  • IGGY POP ... YOUR THE MAN !

  • I would have loved to see performances from 1973 when Raw Power was out or when they recorded Metallic K.O.

  • "Now, you're going to boohh"

    cool IG!

  • Dave Alexander's amp dies in the middle of this or what? is he too drunk?! hmm...

    Alexander R.I.P...

  • yeah, it was his excuse to say that he lost power in his amp. it is the footage from goose lake and he was so drunk and stoned that iggy adamantly decided to fire him.

  • wow. what a way to go. Isn't that overreacting? I mean, the stooges weren't the most organized/tight band in the first place...

  • yeah, Ron Asheton was surprised about's Iggy attitude towards Dave. But maybe Ig was right. Dave definately was 'out of order' by that moment in the group.

  • looka that ribcage!

  • the asheton brothers = crucial

  • this is just terrific, thanks for posting! early stooges footage is a real energizer.

  • The first second or so of this video is Hare Krishnas chanting the maha mantra. This video, with the Hare Krishnas at the start, used to be up here on youtube. Anyone have it?

  • O melhor vídeo do youtube

  • great footage ! thanks a lot
