The one and only Starship troopers movie was filmed in 1997... Just Amazing, your're getting goosebumps, you are overwhelmed by the story, the details and quality! Now... The other two movies are the worst shit I've ever known. I mean the quality and stuff. You aren't into the movie as you seemed to be in Starship Troopers.

Religion is just a means of survival. What pissed me off about this movie was what they did to the Federation at the end. I could forgive the poor CGI. I could forgive the poor acting. But the ending? No. In the first starship troopers it wasn't like ALL religions had ceased to exist, indeed, the Federation fully knew of their existence. Just ask the poor denizens of Port Joe Smith. Why all the sudden this huge conversion? The first movie purposely conveyed the UCF as a militaristic, scientific and non-religious world government.
@1tacoman17, by non-religious, I mean non-affiliated with any one particular denomination. So they're non-denominational. That doesn't mean that religion didn't or does not exist in the federation, it just played no particular role in how it was governed. In ST3 the federation made a HUGE about-face in how they perceived the basis of their own authority, and humanity, by embracing a particular religion. In ST1 the federation believed their authority came from military sacrifice, not "god".

Also, medieval Popes were hardly priests, they were much more of politics. Crusades weren't called to spread Christianity over the world. I was looking forward to this movie for years when I saw Rico was back in it i thought, hey theyre giving this one an actual try, after the first 30 mins in the trenches it just became scenes of Desert Walking and God Talking . . . watch it again and just count how many times a scene starts with the desert followed by the blonde going on about god......

What pissed me off about this movie was what they did to the Federation at the end. I could forgive the poor CGI. I could forgive the poor acting. But the ending? No. In the first starship troopers it wasn't like ALL religions had ceased to exist, indeed, the Federation fully knew of their existence. Just ask the poor denizens of Port Joe Smith. Why all the sudden this huge conversion? The first movie purposely conveyed the UCF as a militaristic, scientific and non-religious world government.

@1tacoman17, by non-religious, I mean non-affiliated with any one particular denomination. So they're non-denominational. That doesn't mean that religion didn't or does not exist in the federation, it just played no particular role in how it was governed. In ST3 the federation made a HUGE about-face in how they perceived the basis of their own authority, and humanity, by embracing a particular religion. In ST1 the federation believed their authority came from military sacrifice, not "god".

Read up a bit about high ranked Nazis, they were all interested in old pagan beliefs, magic, things like that. @FoosMasoos People didn't have the same mindset back when crusades were rolling. There was no place for tolerance like in modern world. Also, medieval Popes were hardly priests, they were much more of politics. Crusades weren't called to spread Christianity over the world. They were called to gain new lands in Asia Minor, reducing Europe's population at the same time (people couldn't get any more land, and couldn't split their own lands, so younger sons of nobles had to migrate).

Although i do actually like this better than the 2nd one, i think this was more on track. The 2nd one was a bit weird. Like a horror film, but without anything scary happening.
Despite the God aspect, (which tbh i think would've been ok, if it hadn't been the bulk of the film) it was actually a decent film.

When someone tells me that atheism is 'just another belief', I tend to point out that I agree and personally BELIEVE that the Big Easter Bunny is the one true God (and just as an atheist, naturally, cannot conclusively refute the existence of a God, I'd like to see anyone conclusively refute the existence of the Big Easter Bunny). Athiesm is a friggin belief: it's a belief that there are no omnipotent beings, or Gods, that control everything. That there is no after life. We randomly exist, and then eentually cease to exist.
