  • YES! In the year 2000 everyone will speak German! Inventions in the dairy will bring us 90% milk. 90% fat, a shake right out of the bottle!. Clog the heart in half the time.

  • ...it's Czech.

  • They got the microwave spot on as well (apart from the actual appearance, but that's to be expected)

  • Punch cards LMAO

  • They got the infomercial and induction cooker right.

Maybe they meant grocery shopping as well. I guess they got that right...well it's not the TV but the internet..

  • Well they got the magnetic induction right. And punch cards?! Haha

  • Life is a rock, but the future rolled me!

  • yeah i wish, it makes me wonder about how all these scintist are saying we should have all this great stuff in 20 years. well shit 50 years ago and we still dont have some of that stuff

  • " Just set it... and forget it! " They got the infomercial part right...

  • Thats not a regular house, thats a factory! lol

  • damn still have to slice your of fucking turkey

  • I want a T.V!!! wait...I have one of those already! Thank you year 2000

  • fuck 21 st

only good thing in this time is you tube and porn others sucks

  • shit, go die youre too stupid

  • oh god i'd love to live in the 21st century

    lol xD

  • I see one thing they were accurate on, the women are still whipping up the meals!!

  • LMAO!

  • I'd like to have a fridge that keeps food for 6 months.

  • Except for the marble heater(probably it exists but it certainly is not practical) and the punched cards they nailed it.

  • that kind og a stove DOES exist now,, My aunt has one, works JUST like it but not marble, its glass

  • Ok but it still doesn't work as good as the one in the video. She is making a big quantity of water boil in just three seconds which is impossible

  • not impossible but just requires a lot of energy

  • You're thinking of an electric stove. The stove in this video supposedly uses "electromagnetic induction", an utterly fake technology.

  • NO im not,, My aunt has one that will boil water in 90secs, I can even provide a picture of the same one in the store with its stickers advertising the Eltromagnetic induction

  • ha its real dude. Um a griddle? that's electromagnet induction because it does not involve generating heat which is then transferred to the cooking vessel,

it makes the cooking vessel itself the original generator of the cooking heat.

  • thats it

  • seeing how youtube for some reason will NOT post the youtube link in a comment, look in my faves, the VERY FIRST vid,,, this is NOT fake

  • aside from the "perfect ingredient machine" and that weird cooking surface, they got most things right

I loled at the punch cards though

  • instead of dreaming about future technology we need to make it and stop dreaming and waiting

  • freakin punch cards hahahahahahahahahahahahahah

  • What's wrong with them ?

I'm sure copying them would be a lot of fun :D

  • Very true!!

  • No, actually it was a pain in the ass

Today you can burn a CD/DVD a thousand times over and over again...if you punched a hole wrong you were fucked and had to wait several hours for the "printer" to do it again

  • they totally overestimated but some things were accurate.

    this was hilarious!

  • we do shop from something called a computer and television i guess, qvc etc. etc.

  • They aren't too far off actually.

  • I LOVE those videos! haha that kitchen looks like a laboratory or something!

  • HAHAHAHAHAH PUNCH CARDS!!!!!

  • man,the reason they probably werent able to make these was probably because of all the money they wasted building fake ones lol

  • not bad ,u might say that they overestimated, but were talking about an eara, when people were preparing to be the first people in space,

the 50's and 60's brought about alot of development, the 70's and 80's seemed to slow down, the fact that they didnt include robots at least shows that they were trying to be realistic, shame they didnt build the car of 2000 thou

  • One day we will all worship are home appliance

  • The thing about induction was totaly right. We have a induction cooking plate in our kitchen and it works really good.

  • i wonder what the futer will be like in 2050

  • where's my flying car and robot slave?!?!

  • A lot of what they showed is real now, the electromagnetic induciton cooking, the infraed light stove, the "TV shopping" is what we now call internet shopping.

  • I think they had the idea of a microwave more or less.

Too bad they never thought about computers or labtops!

  • Yes, that tends to happen when people read advertisements for 2,000$ 'microwave-ovens' in the newspaper. (they've been sold commercially since the '40s).

  • bless them

    we always overestimate humanitys progress

  • silly little people of the past

  • Rofl hahaha

  • Wow, some of their perdictions are right on.

  • The prediction on electromagnetic induction stove was correct. I use one in my kitchen.

  • LOL seriously why would people think that robots the moon Bush has destroied that hope

  • lol yea right. my dish washer dont even work.

  • Punch cards lmao

  • And here I am using my non glass refrigerator like a sucker!

  • hmmm infrared toasted chicken yummy! :D

  • "we'll must eat only by ourself, even in 21st century."

    They got that part right.

Then again, considering those "feed bags" that I saw in that Onion video, eating by "ourself" may be the better option.

  • LOL

  • My Kitchen it's just like that! LOL

  • Punch cards? Come on, even by 1957 the potential of even magnetic strips was obvious and we do use that now in credit cards and most ID cards.

There are some ovens that use combined infra red and microwave cooking, they even read the packaging's Bar code to know exactly how to cook it. But even now these are rare, most just have a regular or microwave oven.

This is not amazingly close or hilariously off, just reasonable predictions... boring.

  • "Whatever we think up will only be 10% correct if at all. My money is on flying cars 50 years from now. Seriously what happened to them... I mean come on its 2008 and no flying cars yet?"

Flying cars are a stupid invention. Why? Because, it'll cause so many accidents, its not even worth it.

  • yeah, and we already have something that flies, the plane, so why do we need cars that fly??? doesn't even make sense.

  • Might as welll ask why we would want cars when we have the bus

  • True, but it would have to be different, in a city it's much better, but where I live, I need to travel 14KM to my school and I use the bus, the only problem is that there are only 2 buses back to my town one after lunch and another at 5:35 PM so days where I get out at 3 I have to wait 2 and a half hours. My luck is my laptop I can get work done before I need to catch the bus. Plus cars save time, my bus has to go through a bigger route than I need, I should really get my drivers license :S

  • far out

  • Take the train or the tram.

  • yeah, I would, but they stupidly stopped the train station in here, it's only used sometimes to transport building materials and such. It was actually the best thing they had here and it's no longer functioning for about 16 years

  • i still want my flying car---or at least that hoverboard from back to the future.

  • Flying cars will have AI's controlling them using GPS.

  • man, they were so wrong! People today shouldn't even dare try to predict the future, they'll just look like fools! LOL

  • Wrong back then, and the things people are talking about today, will be just as wrong.

  • lol at the punch cards. It shows how certain things just cant be imagined.

  • Well most of that is reality now, don't see why it is that funny.

  • i wish

  • They at least got the stove right... EM induction baby. And home shoppping network anyone?

Whatever we think up will only be 10% correct if at all. My money is on flying cars 50 years from now. Seriously what happened to them... I mean come on its 2008 and no flying cars yet?

    We're so behind.

  • want!!!

  • A little off i say.. of course how can we perdict 50 years from now.

  • hell no

  • some ideas are nice but the desgins and features are old!!... they did not predict the future... they taught its going to be new gadgets but without better design...rubish!

  • Aww... I do not know whether those appliances exist in 2008... Those look so useful... :(

  • GLASS FRIDGE LOOKS SWEET

  • All this retro-futurism... the actual year 2000 was nothing special!

  • none of these things would be an improvement!

  • wow they were way off ha

  • um... this stuff and more cud be made but instead we spend billions on a broken machine in Geneva, kool tv shopping tho

  • Don't insult the LHC!

  • or what, i know loads about the large hadron collider, it is broken because we are messing with unknown forces, we are piting the whole human race on finding out about the higgs boson, dark matter, anti- matter, and watever else. the problem is simple, the odds are that the particle collisions will create mini black holes, scientists are certain that hawking radiation, just another THEORY will destroy these holes. in short, a THEORY WILL STOP US FROM BEING KILLED BY BLACK HOLES.

  • Shutup

  • if it does go berserk i hope it only swallows up people like you.

  • the magnetic induction stove actually exist but people don't pay attention to it! lol they were very close! :)

  • lol Recipes will be stored on punch cards.

  • I would like recipes being stored in SD cards or special optical-reading cards!

  • what would be cool is storing it all in a flash drive so that its portable

  • SPOT ON

  • wow lol

  • Wow we don't have as many of this stuff lol! What a dissapointment!

  • we're not behind, that stuff could be made, its just not pratical, who wants to spend all that money just to not have to measure something

  • wow, even today, we're still pretty far off from what they thought we would be at, the punch cards, way out dated, but, that's what they thought

  • punch cards?!?! that's like the 1970s

  • Man, we are so far behind, haha.

  • děrný štítky :D

  • Well ...

    - induction cooker is real

    - Online shopping too ...

    - Infrared is what you have in any electric oven with grill

    - Fridges now, are way closer to what they imagined than they were before. Besides, there are all kind of packaging methods, which didn't exist (milk that can stay for 1 year)

    - And ofcourse, there are many cooking devices in the kitchen. Some of them run Linux :)

It's true that some things didn't happen. But that's because they are not practical. And will not be soon.

  • whats ols is now new ..or are we just dumb to think it is

  • Punched cards???!!! LOL use SD memory cards instead :)))

  • i like it beeter in 1957 look so real than 2008 lol

  • Some of it isn't really that far-fetched. TV shopping is real (QVC, HSN). We can buy meat, or anything else, online. Push button premeasured drinks, they use that in fast-food places.

  • more like the year.............bout a milion years from now.

  • More like year 9000.

  • Guys, it was from Czechoslovakia. Note 'Praha' (Prague) in the closing credits.

I bet they didn't expect their country to be divided and capitalist.

  • lol i like how they are using everything they think will have by 200 when they are demonstrating it-_- -♣♦♥♠

  • Lets make a prediction of a time we wont be living in :P Then we wont have to know how horribly off we were. lol

  • ROFL xD that's all so stupid and microwave is already done but they haven't any idea that somebody make that and there's no way to make that cooking thing where hand wasn't burning but the water was boiling after second in that pot. that pot should be 1000c hot to make water boil so quicly and then the pot would be too hot to handle. and if somebody have a ring and he touch that thing the ring would burn to his hand :D

  • Well, there are some things that are sort of right.

There are TV shopping networks, but it's not quick and principally easy.

Induction heating is a reality for cooking foods.

And there are practical ways to cook foods using IR, such as my toaster oven, a Panasonic NB-G100P.

But, yeah. To recite an MST3K quote from the movie "The Pumaman."

About this stuff being real in the future: "In a wrong sort of way, yeah."

  • its funny when you look at it. i bet we'll laugh at our predictions for the year 2030 when it comes

  • Okay, so lets try for the year 3000??

  • Someone did.

It's called "The Planet of the Apes."

  • The punch cards are my favourite part

  • they just don't know how wrong they are

  • the thing is, who does all the cleaning?

who gets the foods and drinks ready so that you can just press a button?

  • What do you mean who does the cleaning and gets the food ready... The robot servants of course.

  • there wasn't robots in homes 8 years ago. and not even after 2020 maybe. ofcourse some bill gates can buy something like that but not normal peoples who aren't rich

  • Rosie, the robotic maid.

    It's the future, after all.

  • haha, it's amazing what we don't have

  • lol i need some of this shit now days.

  • hahahahaha stuuupid

  • hey i can't do that at the butcher's shop or any other place, i never see a fridge like that a future shop, my kitchen doesn't look like that, my cook book are still books, punch card are no longer use, i never see a infra red oven?, where can i buy one and does it cook only chicken?

  • we will also have bad translations in the year 200!

  • i mean 2000! see?

  • french , aint got a fucking clue

  • Not French, sweetie. Try doing some traveling and not be a typical ignorant American.

  • ignroant ? haah a, your ignorant , u assume im a yank , " sweetie"

  • How... racist. D:

  • Racist? Wtf?

  • racist because he assumed s/he was an american right away, and the language is most likley russian

  • I figured. The 'wtf' was because of the person's stupidity more than anything else.

  • You're proving to be an ignorant American yourself.

Had you researched "girlsdrinkfeck," you would've seen, at least according to the member's profile, that "girlsdrinkfeck" is in the U.K.

Their flag is certainly red, white, and blue, but it's the Union Jack and not the Stars and Stripes.

But, the language isn't French, so at least you got that right.

It sounds Slavic in nature and it had to have been from a country that was not a member of the Warsaw pact back then.

  • just FYI the language is czech...

  • Thanks for the heads up.

And the former Czechoslovakia (now the Czech republic) was not a member of the Warsaw pact until 1960, so this clip predates that event by three years.

  • Czech and SLOVAK Republic, view the word slovakia...

  • Simple mistake.

  • i love the year 1997 and 2000

  • they have one thing wrong...the monitors will be way bigger than that! xD

  • i'd prob be like the year 3000 before our world would be like that

  • actually like the year 2036...

  • that doesnt look right at all lol what a couple of idiots

  • i think all of that is possible with our tech now exept the tv shoping part

  • where my electromagnetic stove thingy? its 8 years late!

  • I have one, except it's glass.

  • drop me a link! I MUST SEE

  • Just search "glass stove top" on google.

  • TV Shopping will never be easy.

  • You know, it's shocking how much they got right.

  • lol seems like a good future world, if only we invented things that sensibly

  • TV shopping lol. i think they predicted the internet!

  • more like QVC

  • The infra-red oven is a step away from a microwave oven I suppose, and the automatic draws exist.

  • Actually, there -are- infrared ovens. They just tend to be gimmicky infomercial products. Not that they don't work, though!

  • Amazing how partially accurate it was. You should see "clothing of the future," where designers of the 50's predicted the next fads. Some of the stuff was right on (the sandals) but everything else was...wow.

  • gaspxitsxbecca; What was accurate about it? o_o

  • actaully i just saw that same vid; they predicted that women would be wearing pants instead of skirts, and electric clothing!

  • just lets you know what the government already know.......and we call em discoveries.

  • marble stove FTW!

    it was pretty accurate

  • hahahahaha, punch cards, we had those in colledge.

  • what happened to the marble stove? that is awesome.

  • It seems like this commercial was predicting the Microwave which could pretty do a lot of the things that were being discussed in this video

  • all the technology in the video was very possible then, and is cheaper now, but then so is the stuff that still works such as cooking with gas , induction cooking is great fun, but it has its own impracticalities

  • yeah, they'd be like " dude,....what the fuck? why are you still using the same shit we were?" the only real difference we've accomplished with the kitchen, is the fridge. now you can get get water from their and ice comes to you at the push of a button.o0o0o0o.man we suck.

  • We had all that in 1998, it's just it's a lot of money xD

  • silly old era

  • OMG!
