After numerous attempted excruciating therapy treatments and two MRIs that indicated no tears found, I ended up having this surgery, where upon opening- the major tear was found. Ouch!! Now I only have the healing pain which will be successful, because the recovery pain is nowhere the aching nagging pain of the injury prior to surgery!
@volunteernation16 on Sept 2011, it will be 1 year since my surgery. Unfortunately, I am impatient,....so, I began doing "light cleaning" dusting my end tables, sitting on a short stool, I fell onto the elbow of my injured arm, thus I popped my shoulder. I went back to the doctor, who said, we need some more MRI's ... I instead opted, I'll allow time to heal. Up until now, I cannot use that arm completely to stretch. Life goes on..
Yes your arms can be moved in any direction - you just cannot move them by yourself - if your palms are UP!!! WIth palms down - it is very easy!!!!!!!!
Both of mine were partial tears - until I was sent to physical theropy - and the excersises they asked me to do - make the tears complete!!!!!!!!!
What they are showing (because I had a 100% rotator cuff tear) is that you CAN lift you arm - with your hand DOWN - that is easy!!!! But put your hands UP and you cannot lift your arms at all!!!!!!! My doctor said it was just a poor design - but so is the knee!!!!!!
@Earthlinked in the video the patient cant elevate both arms without using some trapezius and deltoids strenght,(watch how he shrugs)and a very limited movement but the arms can be moved and go up with doctors help

@corina1usa I've had MRI's as well that came up negative. I was relieved, but after hearing your situation I'm starting to worry.
