  • i'm so jealous of anyone who ever got to see the clash live.

  • "he's fucking dieing, lets get im out "....they don't em like Ray Ganges/Johnny Green anymore....

  • pistols split clash sold out

  • @ryandundas2007 more the other way round

  • perhaps joe should have sung donald wheres yours troosers , great footage thou

  • British at their best

  • What happened to the guy at the end of the video? he passed out or what?

  • what energy!!!

  • @oiclash77 hell yeah!!

  • punk! the 3 chord bash

  • what its all about...fuck these pussy bands these days and have more of this.......LONG LIVE THE CLASH

  • i hate you for that. im so jealous.

  • Really glad you posted this, what a band.

I don't think kids these days can imagine just how big punk was in 1977/1978, I mean like practically an entire generation was caught up in it. You can split the 1970s down the middle and find two different eras. There is the time before punk and the time after.

    great video

  • this is clearest i ever heard strummer ennunciate while singing...

  • I hate myself for being born in the 90's.

  • @4nier7 Oh, baby, don't say that. You're making me cry.

  • what the fuck ever happened to this?! all you see now-a-days is posers on a giant stage with security behind fences beating people up

  • @guitargczr699 wtf. Just because you don't go to underground punk shows doesn't mean they don't exist.

  • @RockandRoll2471 I live at the corner of bum fuck and you got a purdy mouth so there aren't many punk shows here lol

  • the best 4 ever

  • were does joe go after 1:49 ?

  • @SuperPunk1995 Yeah after 1:49 Joe turns invisible

  • its a movie SCOTSPUNKBOY, for example - when Mick shouts GET OFF THE FUCKING STAGE, it looks like its aimed at Ray, when hes actually shouting at the cameraman.

    Stay Free

  • ...y en el octavo dia Dios creo THE CLASH!!!!

  • ive seen rudeboy a few times and was at the gig and still think the bit about hes dying was dubbed in !!! calll me an auld cynic lol

  • I missed this gig, only live 20 miles away but my excuse to this day was I was only 10 years old at the time....how fuckin sad!!

  • does anybody know the name of the reggae song at the end?

  • @MrBloodDrive it was ska not reggae

  • @AnnoyingBeast

Ty. i didn'y know. i'm very new to ska and reagge

  • 0:50-0:54, Mick takes his hand off the guitar yet you can still hear guitar. Ah well, it must have been awesome to be there.

  • @matedog2

Hi matedog2 - The reason for that is the Clash re-recorded the sound footage for all the live action in this movie. I seem to remember that there was something wrong with the actual sound recorded on the footage they had and so it was all re-recorded in a studio and made to sound live.

  • @currylord - yeah, they didn't have the foresight to record off the board so all they had was the camera mic which was probably awful. It only bothers me a bit as the visual is so awesome.

  • @matedog2 I think mostly the shot with super 16 and had a NAGRA to synch sound or maybe not...but their recording gear was probably half OK...just maybe the engineer didn;t know a great deal about CHAOS...I'm sure there's more unseen (unheard) footage...

  • @matedog2 It might be the looper or echo.

  • Bloody hell, Strummer got the words right to his own song! We used to laugh at Clash gigs at how he would mangle the words to tunes.

  • How come Brits talk so funny?

  • @JizumChrust

Because we invented the language you Yank cunt. You are the ones who talk funny.

  • @wiggedtroll Ha ha ha

  • con ese tema quien no se enloquece

  • What a massively great band they were.

  • This is awesome. Checking out all The Clash I can find on YouTube and I keep coming back to this.

  • Bloody brilliant, not seen that clip before.

Ray Gange out of it as usual.

  • @middxdiehard NO he was good there I thought...helpful and...bang on...I betcha he preaches the BLUES now down the CIRCLING LINE or on Stockwells high roads.

  • Joes like a careing dad isnt he,.(at the start).bless him,,Rotton would of should moaned about it,..

    R.I.P...Joe

  • nothing comes close these days

  • Oi,, does someone know what song they play at the end to calm down those kids

  • @wtfjunkie

I wonder what song was it, but i know they used a lot of reggae music before and after a concert (and not only they, when there was no punk records...)

  • Yes, The Clash is the best band ever, and they still take on followers, young people that didn´t listen to them when they were about. Like my daughter, seventeen years old, she loves the clash, joy division and velvet underground.

  • introduce her to the libertines

  • I tried with the Libertines, I like them a lot, but she seems to like babyshambles a bit more, and that annoys me! But, what can I do, still, she has got a indie/garage/punk rock heart, and she has got her own will, with nobody trying to tell her what to say or think! That´s freedoom, that´s what my daughter to have, a free will of her own!

  • The money is still in the hands of the people rich enough to buy it...

  • @liamuk08 *all the power in the hands of the people rich enough to buy it

  • I agree: nothing can beat THE CLASH. I love their energy, lyrics, music, everything. Fucking classic! And I really miss Joe.

  • Does anyone know the name of that reggae song playin at the end?

  • sounds to me like bob marley

  • Somehow the scene on this video, where Mick's trying to tell Joe to get on the drumstand, it somehow reminds me of the scenes in Vietnam based movies, where a friend of yours is trying to get you out from the line of fire. They were all brothers in arms. I wanna riot, a riot of my own!

  • Is this an out take from Rude boy?

  • @dortyhoor yes I believe there must be quite a lot of unseen footage. HAzan Mingay sometimes argued about what was acceptable to film. Many/various good camera people sent to the frontline also. Best band and best ROCK film I've seen. Not pompous rubbish with 12 cranes and BIG BOOMS...just straitforwartinyerface - 16mm like steady-rock-cam before its time. Watch more recent films by HAZAN...he under-rated BIG TIME

  • @PoireauMan68 Will do, ta.

  • Holy shit!! I've never seen this before!! Thank you!!!!

  • classic

  • yo who lnows what tha song is at the end playin in de background at like 2:06

  • Such bad overdubbing.

  • @matedog2 ye cool that's HOW we like it here in Samalarapang, India

  • KE ROBE!!

  • in reply to CyNN82. i know what you mean. my son is 21 and bang into the clash. his mates thought i was a bit mad. then i started showing them clips of the clash. and pointed myself out in the crowd. they all bought instruments and make their own music now. thats what punk was about. don't buy music make it ! ! in 77 we had riots in most city's huge unemployment.and no future. that provided the recipie for punk. just like today. the clash sang about the society of the 70s. its very simular today

  • Yeah The Clash are the best band ever. Know your rights is the truest song I've ever heard.

  • I have a Fender electric guitar that I bought over a year ago and am trying to learn to play. Damn, just looking at this video and the band keeping their cool and calming the kids down. The Clash forever...

  • And also I'm just stunned at the number of fans there. It's just too much to control. Yikes!!

  • @dadswizz u

  • @PoireauMan68 dad

it's very similar but NO GOOD TUNES to listen to...just BEYONCE's BIG FAT ARSE to wank over...the kids today...fuck me...what a big fucink VOID...artistic void there is.

  • i was 18 in 77 and seen the clash 5 times. being from newcastle we had to wait for the white riot tour to see them for the first time. this looks like that tour. things will never be like that again, it was against what the music industry now is. happy hedonistic times never to be recaptured. the clash have provided the music to the backdrop of my life. R.I.P joe & topper.

  • Comment removed

  • you were lucky!

I'm 17 now and without a doubt I would've given anything to be 17 in 77! and be part of the movement and the whole generation and more specially see the band that changed my life live :'-(

I really think I was born in the wrong era... I mean.. my generation sucks!

PS: I don't think topper is death.. is he?

  • topper is still alive, thank god

  • @CyNN82 this so called movement was DEAD by 1979 mate.

  • your hedonistic time may have came and gone, but im goin out there and making myne happen!

  • CLASH = AWESOME

  • Wow, the guy at the end of the video is Ray Gange..is this some original footage from Rude Boy ? Maybe something kept out from the movie?

  • Its all on youtube matey:)

Jus search Rude boy part 1. That's how i watched it, Some really great footage of live gigs:)

  • Get im out, he's fuckin dying!

  • the crowd just swallowed joe strummer in the middle of the song. i don't think the clash enjoyed that too much, but anyway it's a good video ;)

  • gives me goosebumps

  • The kid in front of Joe at 48 to 52 secs with the leather bomber, white tee shirt and raised fist is me. I saw this on the dvd bonus bits recently and showed it to my son, who never believed that his old dad was a punk who had met the Clash and been to loads of their gigs. He couldn't deny it after seeing this. This gig ended with the riot you can see on the film. The band were moving further and further back as the crowd advanced until all four of them were on the drum platform. What a night!

  • thats awesome. i wish they could have finished the song though, it sounded really good.

  • omg you lucky lucky bloke, what was their best song live my freind?

  • The crowd always went wild for White Riot but I always loved the Clash version of Police and Thieves. The mixture of reggae and punk was always brilliant and there was no band better than the Clash when it came to playing that fusion.

  • that is so badass

  • i seen you bro thats fucking great..i bet your sons proud

  • Nah, he still thinks I'm an old fart. I taught him how to play guitar though so watch this space.

  • jezz mate was that really u can i ask where they the best live shows of your life cause i would have given anything to see that band live, do u say there one of the best bands ever? oh and can i ask u about what u thought about them when albums like london calling and sandinista came out what did u think about them just wanted to know what fans thought back in them days?

  • It was me. My mate is on the footage as well. I saw the vast majority of the punk bands at the time. The Clash were by far the best band I ever saw live as Joe was a great front man and Mick was a fantastic guitarist. I still play London Calling. I think there are songs on it like Rudie Can't Fail and Spanish Bombs, which still sound brilliant today. Sandinista varied in quality, probably because it was a triple album. As a double album, it would have been a classic.

  • damn! I'm so jealous! I would've given my right arm to be there where u were....

  • me too ..

  • @currylord

Damn Im 19... and i wish i were there in 77´s england...

  • @MrBloodDrive im 18.... and wish i was there to

  • @currylord THAT IS FRACKING AWESOME!! I would give anything to be in a 70s Clash video!!!! Awesome dude.

  • @currylord That's amazing!!

  • @currylord Lucky Fucker!!

  • @currylord Ur the luckiest person in the world and i hate you because of it ;)

  • Lucky yours, i'm jealous mate! The Clash were and are the only band that matters, definitely they changed my life, in 1977 i was only 3 years old, this concert was 3 years after the Revolution in Portugal 1974 against Fascism. There were really bad times there was no time for opposition but now the problems are similar with the difference the Clash are presents. I never saw The clash on stage lucky for me I met personally Mick and Joe

    Best wishes

  • @currylord it good to see young people into the clash ,they seem to command more respect than the music that pre-dated us .i mean i wear clash/ramones t-shirt nowadays ,which i never did `back in the day` i often see young blokes/girls looking and they seem to be thinking `he might be old (i`m 50) but he`s OK.` what other bands did you see in dunfermline i imagine a lot of the bands only played glasgow/edinburgh,were`nt the skids from dunfermline?

  • @currylord ...You were there for more than 4 seconds mate!...Im the same...Saw them play Leicester De Montfort Hall in 84 after Jones had left!....They came on and absolutely tore into "London Calling" and the crowd went ballistic!...When I die....I want my name on my gravestone followed by...."He saw The Clash"!

  • @nealtracy hate to be a bit of a dick but the clash for me and a lot of people was 1976-83 after mick had left it just wasn't the same without topper and mick.

  • @currylord You are one lucky guy!!!!

  • @currylord your the fucking man!

  • Fantastic footage!!!!!

  • grandi!

  • whats this from it looks like rude boy but i aint seen this bit nice one any way

  • its on the bonus material on rude boy
