People who become paleontologists often work with the real bones and try to make discoveries of their own. You want a real fossil? Hell I can find dozens of fossils across pebble beaches in the great lakes. These where once real creatures, but we still don't know much about them.

They speculate based on their bones. You can tell alot from an animal's bones, such as with humans. Just by looking at human bones you can tell that they had sex (obvious) and similarly you can tell by the animals we see today (mainly birds) and the bones of dinosaurs how the dinosaurs reproduced.
